We found out that Devin had Strep on Thursday. Last night dw got a sore throat and Cory woke up twice crying. DW and Cory spent the afternoon at the doctor. They both tested positive. I wonder if it just a matter of time before it is my turn.

Strep has now made it's way through DS's day care/school three times. DS and I both had it, but DH managed to dodge the bullet. Good Luck, and change ALL the toothbrushes in the house.

My DS had it for two weeks, just when I thought the first bout was over he got worse. Had to put him on a stronger antibiotic. Thank goodness neither myself or DH caught it from him.

Another reminder: Don't forget to change the toothbrushes!!

Hope everyone recovers quickly!

I am sending PD hoping everyone recovers quickly and that you "dodge the bullet"

Oh no! Hide!!! Sorry to hear that it has invaded your house! DS8 had it and was out of school for a week. After that DD4 got a double ear infection. Just this week BOTH kids were sick with something that started as a fever (DS got as high as 104!) and had them wiped out for a while. DS missed 3 more days of school. DH & I have both been on the brink of things but I am trying real hard not to catch anything!

We are hoping once the weather breaks and we can get out more we can get rid of all these sicknesses!!

Stay healthy!

Jill

Strep has invaded our kids' school as well!!! Both my kids have gotten it along with Scarlet Fever   . It was actaully the Scarlet Fever Rash that brought us to the Dr.'s office. Neither one complained of having a sore throat. I hope everyone feels better really soon!!!

In addition to strep both kids have an ear infection and dw has a sinus infection. The illness seems to bother dw more than the kids.

When I had strep last year, the doctor told me to throw out my toothbrush and to buy a new one. Had never heard that one before. But, took his advice and threw it out and bought a new one. Hope everyone feels better soon.

Doxdogy - the doctor told me the same thing about getting rid of the toothbrush.

Okay! Does this mean I'm going to get sick too? DH has had an ear infection since last Friday. It's been over a week and the meds don't seem to be helping. DS was away for the weekend at a school retreat and came home last Sunday with a temp of 101.2! It seems one of the other students had strep the week before and since he was feeling better and on meds he would still go on the retreat!! Well, needless to say DS tested positive for strep on Wednesday and yesterday was diagnosed with pneumonia!! I'm taking vitamins and drinking plenty of orange juice hoping to ward off these sicknesses!! Annmarie

hope everyone gets better soon. :)

i seem to have a natural immunity to strep. my sister had it *9* times when we were growing up and i have never had it.

On the toothbrush thing. .....
My kids Dr told me to wait 48 hours and then toss the toothbrush. said if you don't wait till antibiotics kick in; the kids will get "strep "on the new toothbrush and will reinfect themselves when they come off the antibiotics. My DS is a pediatric RN and agreed.....

Lots of get well pixie dust headed your way. Hope you don't get it too. I have a new respect for strep. It's what caused the terrible foot infection that my DD was in the hospital for 9 days with. It's sure nothing to mess around with. Hope you're all feeling better soon.

I hope you don't get it and that your dw and ds's get better soon.

Strep is nasty stuff.

I was just reading your post MerryPoppins. I'm glad she is getting better. I know there are different strains and some are flat dangerous. This one seems to be sensitive to the antibiotics. At least Devin is feeling much better today.

Bless their hearts. Strept is a miserable affliction. I hope you don't get it too.

DS was out all last week with it. We went to pick up his homework, and the secretary said that 6 other kids out of his class alone were out with it, too.

Oh boy, I hope everyone is feeling better soon.
I had strep alot growing up, and then not once in 12 years, until last winter. It was going around the school bus I drove, and I finaly caught it. It was worse than any of the times I had it as a child. I was so sick, I ended up in the ER.
Stay healthy!

DD had it last weekend. Thankfully it cleared pretty quickly once she started the antibiotics. The Dr. told us about throwing away the toothbrushes after 24-48hrs . It was the first time I had heard this but it does make sense.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

OK - bad news. On Monday I went to the doctor because I had a sore throat. Yep, strep. I also had her check the UTI and guess what - I still have it. Good grief. She gave me a shot for the strep and pills for the UTI. Can I never get well? :( :( The kids are getting better and I am feeling better today. Thanks for the well wishes.
