My sisters cat, who has been in the family 5 or 6 years, has the weirdest quirk ever.
At night, she literally begs and demands to go out on the balcony, or on a walk. She paces back and forth by the door, and cries. Its the weirdest thing ever.

What put me over the top last night was talking to my sister, and she said " I have to get home soon to let Fiona out or give her a walk"

It's like she is a dog. :o
When I was cat sitting her, I was not able to walk, so I'd let her out into the hallway (she'd have to escape thru two more locked doors to get outside. The crying was insane. :cat:

I've had two cats (brother and sister) that liked to sit behind me and paw at my head while I'm on the computer. At least until I turned around and acknowledged them. I have one now that will quietly meow until I open the door for him.....but that isn't enough. I have to go outside with him(and the dog) and walk around the yard and check on plants and chase him(and the dog) around. He also will come get me to pet him while he eats. I had another one that would play hide and seek with me. He loved to hide and jump out at me. He also liked to eat green beans. I love cats and all their quirky habits :)

We have one that meows at the door to be let out. She's a litter box class failure, so we do let her out. When she's done, she meows at the door to be let back in.

My cat is SUPER weird. Every night... EVERY...NIGHT... She opens all of the bathroom cabinets. I have no idea why. She's not taking anything...She's not sleeping in there. If I open them all before bed she meows like crazy until I go close them for her and get back in bed(then I can hear her opening them again).

Now see.... crazy stuff like that is why I like having cats. :)

I love hearing about the quirks of other people's cats. :) My indoor cat is 13 years old and up until a couple of years ago she would drink out of her water dish, by her food dish. But then she decided she wanted water in the bathroom sinks. And it has to be fresh. She'll jump up onto the bathroom counter, after she has meowed enough that you know she wants a drink, and will watch as you put the stopper in the sink and put 2-3" of water in the bottom. Then she will drink, but only if there are no soap bubbles from soap residue left on the sink. She likes drinking water from both downstairs bathroom sinks, and if I go upstairs and she follows she will run right to the bathroom up there and sit on the counter and wait for me to fill THAT sink for her as well. :)

And when she uses her litter box for #2 she will tear through the house when she's done, it's the only time she will run in the house so we always know why.

Another one of our cats is really confused. They have a natural instinct to bury their treasures in the cat box. But this one paws around near the cat food dish when she's done eating. If someone drops a sock or glove near the cat dish, she will use it to cover up the cat food left in the dish. (Thankfully it's dry food). I still laugh at her over it.

Winter is really rough on my cat, and once we get to March where the sun is actually high enough in the sky early in the evening he likes to lay in the sun for the very short time it comes through the window. The first spot it hits is the top of the couch. He will snooze there until it moves, than move to the chair across the room where the sun ends up hitting next. Now the sun will not hit the chair, it shines on the hardwood floor. He sits up on the chair and meows loudly while looking back and forth at where the sun is hitting the floor than at me; as if I can rotate the earth and make the sun shine on him.

We have 4 cats. (I know what you're thinking. No, I'm not the crazy cat lady. DD#2 rescued C#1 as a baby, and gave her to me. DS wanted a cat of his own, and C#2 picked him out at the animal shelter. We went to a pet adoption fair to look at getting another dog, and ended up with 2 baby cats. DS and C#3 just connected, and C#4 attached himself to me.)

They are all different. C#1 thought she was a dog. She didn't learn how to "cat" until the last two came. She is finally crawling up onto my lap and nudging at my chin to pet her after 4 years. Before that, if she wanted to be petted, she would rub on my foot and sit there until I reached down to pet her. She couldn't jump off of a stack of two boxes (at less than 2 feet from the floor). She's willing to climb on the cat tower now, but only if I put catnip out. Otherwise, she'll lay on the bottom only. When she's on the cat tower and wants off, she'll meow until I pick her up and put her back on the floor.

C#2 wants to be left alone, unless she wants to be petted, then you had best do it right now! She comes when DS calls her name and clicks his tongue. She hates C#4, and hisses and bats at him, but will play with the other two just fine. She likes to climb up on the tops of the cabinets and will move from room to room to follow the sun. She also likes to open cupboards...I can't count the number of times we've shut to door, then after hours of searching for her, open one up and find her sound asleep in one! She loves McDonald's hamburgers (on the rare occasions we go there, we usually get the dog a plain hamburger. Found out the cat likes them too, and will brave the dog's growl to get at it).

C#3 is all baby cat. She will "talk" to you if address her, responding to you with her baby meows. She'll stand on her back legs and look around, like a meerkat, for 10-15 minutes at a time. If there is a flying bug, she'll catch it, but will freak out if a crawling bug runs AT her...one night a palmetto bug flew in when we let the dog out, and C#3 went after it. The thing was on the floor and ran right towards her. C#3 jumped almost straight up in the air, turned and ran to the room where their litter boxes are. Didn't see her for two hours.

C#4 is the only male and is stubborn. DH says he's not smart, but I think he just likes to test the waters. He will look at you, and do what he's not supposed to do (climb on the table, claw the couch) just to get a reaction out of you...if you're not looking at him, he won't do it. He's so chill though; he can be toted around for hours. Loves to have his belly scratched, just like a dog.

They all eat the dry food from the same bowl, and share the dog's water bowl, but when I put out canned soft food, I have to break it into 3 bowls. C#1 doesn't eat it, bothers her tummy. The other 3 have to have separate bowls, or C#4 will stretch his head across the bowl to eat from where the other cats are eating, and that makes them all hissy.

My one cat LOVES the smell of bleach. It is like catnip to him. He will roll around on the counters after we clean them in ecstasy. He follows the cleaning people like a dog. One day I was cleaning their litter pans in bleach water in the bathtub and he was standing in the edge of the tub inhaling the fumes. His big sister cat took that opportunity to try and get rid of him by knocking him in to the bleach tub. (This was before I knew about his bleach fetish or I never would have left the door open.) He got his first bath that day.

Our cat does that too. We call it a "poop and run"

My cat doesn't "cover it" either. :( So, thankfully she does run all through the house after she goes, so then I know to run in there and take care of it. :) I always thought cats covered, but mine doesn't. I guess her mother didn't teach her properly. :)

My cat has weird bathroom habits too.
We have a nightly pee together every night before bed. Her litter box is next to the toilet so if she's in there(or I don't fully latch the door) she's right next to me doing her thing.

I don't know how my animals got like this!!! They were both adopted... You'd think they'd be appreciative but they are the most spoiled, high maintenance pets I know.

I've never had what I would call a normal cat, they have all have strange quirks. All of my pets do, my dog and guinea pig are no exception.

Gotta love the felines!
Mine this past year has decided she only likes to drink from cups. She has a nice water tower feeder thing, and really doesn't touch it. Today, her cup was basically empty yet she shoved her whole head in the thing to try and get some water before looking at me. All while 3 feet away her water tower was full.

One of my cats is a thief...sad but true, all her life she has been a thief. She steals my daughters clean knickers, bras and socks, be it from the laundry basket, her draws, or freshly folded piles of clothes.

It is only my daughters clothes, no one else's and it is only freshly cleaned clothes, not dirty socks tossed on the floor. All our clothes are washed together and go into the clothes basket together but she will dig through the basket to find her treasures...she stashed them under the beds and couches....lol

Was hilarious one day, we had guests and Louie decide to pick that moment to run through the house with my daughters lacy bra in tow...we all laughed daughter didn't.

Our cat "nurses" on our earlobes. Weirdest thing ever. It is like a comfort thing for her, I guess. I found her outside in one of the ambulance bays at my work when she was about 6 weeks old, so we assumed maybe she had been separated from her mom too young or something and it would eventually stop, but we have had her for over 6 months now and she still demands the lobes. She will meow and meow until we pick her up and then she crawls up and starts sucking on our ears. We tried giving her a pacifier, which she actually used for a short time, but she got tired of that quick and went straight back for our ears. She will even wake us up in the middle of the night sometimes because she will crawl right on top of our heads to get to our ears. So strange!
