I just finished working a 2 week notice. I turned in a written notice that was very nicely worded. I am a registered nurse in a hospital and recently received 2.99 out of a possible 3.0 on my annual evaluation. My boss never acknowledged my quitting with one word. Never a "we hate to see you go" or even a "kiss my foot". He is our unit manager and never talks to any of us unless you're in trouble. I've never had a true conversation with him and this is true of most of my co-workers. It does feel odd to quit and the boss never say one word. Anybody else think this is strange? Now the Director of Nurses did acknowledge my leaving and said if I ever want to come back, please do. But my direct boss - not a word.

It seems strange to me.

He is very anti-social. Just stays in his office with door closed. I have never worked for anyone like him and I have been a nurse for nearly 20 years and have many bosses over the years. I am so looking forward to my new job and hopefully will have a boss who can interact with people. I don't expect a lot from a boss, but this was just weird.

Sounds a little strange to me. I hope your next boss is more personable and friendly :)

That doesn't surprise me since it's a hospital. I've seen nurses leave who were going to the hospital "across town." They were asked to leave the same day, forget the two weeks.

I had a boss whos ONLY words to me the on my last day were..... Are you happily married??? This was also a medical office and this doctor had never spoken to me the whole time I was there. I have NO idea where that question came from. He was a married man fooling around with the office manager so maybe he was looking for a replacement?? I have no idea. I gave him the Are you NUTS look and told him YES VERY HAPPILY MARRIED.

Good luck with your new job!!!!
