Stork due to visit in October

When I was little my mom just bought a bunch of cheap hand towels to use for burp clothes. I have to admit, it was a clever idea. Untill I was two mom could give me ANY hand towel and get me to go to sleep. That was my blankie.

Congratulations!! As the mother of five and grandmother of eight (almost), I can tell you that this will be the greatest adventure of your life. Babies are such a blessing. Enjoy!!

Oh Congrats! It's such a great time in life. Don't worry...you'll find your own groove with your baby and how you like to handle everyday things!:yay:

Thank you all so much for the good wishes and wonderful tips. It can all seem so overwhelming....we had been told by two doctors that we could not have children so we are feeling extra blessed.

Happy girl - you asked if I was hoping for a girl or boy and of course we just want a healthy baby - but I will confess I would like a boy - we like the name Nathan (we can't agree on any girl names yet) and I just think it would be lovely for my DH to play baseball with his son

Either way - we are thrilled...

Thanks again for your insights, tips, suggestions and good wishes :flower3:

You have names already? That's impressive! I'm so tired during the first trimester I can't think about what I'm having for lunch, let alone what I'm going to name this baby. I'm afraid I'd choose something like caffeinita or coffey pleaz :)
Nathan is a great name!

Congratulations! We had an October baby last year--fun time to be born. Most of the girls I knew who had babies then brought them home in a Halloween costume (the baby wore the costume, not the mom :rotfl:).

I tend to be pretty practical, and the first thing I would do, if you haven't yet, is find the best doctor you can. Ask around, talk to any pregnant girl you see, or if you know a labor and delivery nurse--they're great because they see the doctor's bedside manners. Also, ask around about pediatricians.

Stock up on your sleep whenever you can. Your body needs the rest; it is doing an insane amount of work right now.

Do the research on products you may need and be interested in. You'll have plenty of time in your second trimester when the energy starts to come back and morning sickness wanes--should you have it--to start shopping. However, sometimes you see that cute "thing" you JUST HAVE to have for baby, and it's okay to treat yourself to that too.

Get thee to the BabyCenter October 2010 birth board! It will be a great place to share thoughts, feelings, frustrations with others who are going through the same thing you are. It's nice to know some days that you are not alone as you deal with the highs and lows of pregnancy and childbirth. Very supportive group.

Best of luck and here's to a healthy pregnancy.

Oh, and I agree with "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy"--Hilarious!
