Stories by the hearth

I have seen mentioned a few times Stories by the hearth at GCH. What sort of stories are these and what time is it done?

I'd be interested to know more about people's experiences with storytime too! We are staying at the GCH in December and might like to see a story time if its worth going to

Awesome- so close!! We aren't heading there until December so the suspense is killing me lol

I happened to catch just a little bit of the storytelling about a month ago. My husband went to get something from the car and I just happened to be in the lobby as it was going on. The story was a version of Aesop's fable of the Lion and the Mouse, but I think they changed it to the Bear and the Squirrel, or some kind of forest creature. It was very cute. Pretty small crowd, maybe 15-20, gathered in front of the fireplace. The storyteller was very animated and got the audience participating (like making roaring sounds and such). I can't remember the exact time, but there will be a daily schedule that you'll receive when you check-in. If we had our kids with us, we probably would have stayed to listen, but it was just us and we wanted to get back to the park so we left before it was over.

We stayed there in December. My kids wanted to stay in the room so my husband and I went to the lobby just to enjoy the decorations. We found a spot to sit by the fireplace. There was about 10 other guests sitting there as well. We knew nothing about the story time. All of a sudden this forest ranger looking guy walks up and starts talking to everybody. The kids that were sitting there were excited. He then sat by the fireplace and said let me tell you a story. We got the story about the bear and squirrel. He was amazing at telling the story. My husband and I really enjoyed sitting there listening. My kids are older but at that moment I wished that they were with us and not in the room. I highly recommend making a point to not miss this especially if you have smaller kids say 8 and younger.
