Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Hey! I'm caught up again, thanks to the snow day we're having today. :sad2: So much for my three-day weekend this weekend (President's Day was our second snow make-up day). It's slowed down now, but we're supposed to get another round this evening, along with 40 mph wind gusts. Seeing as how I teach at a rural school, I might have some extra DIS time tomorrow, too....;)

I'm glad you enjoyed Cirque. My mom and aunt are going when we're there in June. They're really excited. We love to explore DTD, too - it's my husband's favorite first stop the day we arrive, actually. Yes, he has the shopping gene - actually, all the men in his family do. He's actually a better shopper than I am!

Hope you're feeling better!

So, I started reading yesterday, and to be honest, skimmed all your non-trip posts and read the Disney trip ones, but I'm all caught up and am so excited!

I am very lucky about the epilepsy meds and with the severity of my epilepsy. I know that can change at any time, but so far so good.

I am loving your TR because my kids are so young we spend a lot of time at the MK. I get to experience the rest of the world with you. It has been about 9 years since I've done most of the older stuff at Hollywood Studios and the rest of the parks. Though my 5 and 6 year old loved Tower of Terror and we went on it twice this last trip!

Yea! A snow day. We don't get those here in our part of the South. I think the last time we had a semi-large snow was several years back....like maybe 2001 or 2002. Anyway, a long time ago.

We absolutely loved Cirque. That was the best money I have ever ever spent at Walt Disney World. Have your mother and aunt ever seen it before? If not, they are going to be blown away. Heck, even if they have seen it before, they'll still be blown away.

All of us love exploring DTD too. Even if we don't buy much, it's fun to go walking through all of the stores.

Thanks for the "feel better" wishes. I am still feeling crummy but not as crummy as yesterday.

It's perfectly okay that you skipped the non-Disney related stuff. That's why I tried to put the Disney installments in bright blue. Easier to locate.

John hasn't had a full blown seizure in almost 13 years. He still has little face twitches and days when he feels all tense but that's better than the alternative!

We've been going to Disney World since our son was just 1 year old. It's so much fun watching him take it all in. My Mother is going with us on our next trip and is excited to see how much the World has changed in 10 years.

Your 5 and 6 year olds are braver than I. It took me 14 trips to WDW before I ever got on Tower of Terror. My kids still tell me the only reason I like it is because they actually sat and prayed for me the entire time.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks! I just came over to your trip report. I subscribed. Now I have to really read the details.

I hope to get a trip installment posted sometime today. I've been trying to sort through my photobucket pictures. In the meantime, I thought you guys might like to see pictures of Lacey and her boyfriend, Jesse. These were taken by the pastor's wife and I had to scan them on my scanner. They are a little washed out looking and I didn't take the time to fix them. The one on the top is black & white.

Those almonds look so YUMMY!!!! :)

We did the construction/music thing so I know what you're talking about. It really didn't hold our attention either.

Bummer that Living with the Land was closed....love that little boat ride!

Cute pics of Lacey and Jesse! They look like they have a lot of fun together! :goodvibes

It took me 12 trips and 17 years to be able to ride Haunted Mansion with my eyes open the entire time. I could hit all the Mountains and RnRC with no problem. I'd ridden ToT before that too, though it's not my favorite. My stomach doesn't agree with being a yo-yo. Yet, I'll admit, I was mortally terrified of Haunted Mansion. It took me until I was 14 to be able to get off without crying. And even now that I've ridden it, I'd still prefer to skip it.

Mom and I don't care for Innoventions. But that's because Dad INSISTS on spending at least an hour in there, in the not-fun techy side where there's nothing to do. The last couple of trips we've figured out that if we buy a popsicle right before, it's a good excuse not to go in. Don't want to drip all over the floor now do we? ;)

When I was at Pop Century the lady at the hair wrapping stand had a "pet" squirrel. She was telling the little girl she was helping all about it, and how she'd named it and he'd come every day for food. In the summer he'd eat it right then and there, but when it starts getting cold he takes it to bury. Makes me wish I could make friends with the squirrels here at school, but they're EVIL. Seriously.

Lacey had three things on her list of my have snacks: 1) cinnamon sugar almonds, cotton candy and a turkey leg. She never did get around to getting the turkey leg. But, before we left, she used three snack credits to get cinnamon almonds.

I am so glad that you knew what I was talking about when I tried to describe the construction/music thing. It wasn't that fun.

Living with the Land is one of our favorites and we were all bummed that it was closed.

Lacey's a little more outgoing than Jesse. He likes to have fun but doesn't show it as openly as Lacey. You can't keep that girl from acting silly no matter where she is.

Isn't it weird how some things just freak us out when others can ride them over and over and over again. Hunter can't stand Splash Mountain. The entire time he's riding it, he's thinking about the last drop.

Innoventions are okay. We don't usually do them on the first day because we're too busy doing other stuff but we try to do stuff in them on the second day.

I guess Disney has converted most squirrels into semi-pets.

John finished off his Mickey rice crispy treat about the same time the kids finished their piggy bank adventure. Hunter said they were just shy of having enough money to take a nice long vacation.

While I walked around and took pictures of the Piggy Bank Adventure, I saw that there was a Segway tour just a little further down and asked John if he wanted to try it. He said it sounded like fun so that's where we headed.

John got in line and signed the necessary "If I bust my head wide open and bleed to death, I won't sue Disney" forms.

Soon, he was trying to stand on a segway. He was bobbling around that thing like crazy. I got tickled as did the kids. I was beginning to think that he wasn't going to get the hang of it.
The castmember was super nice and kept standing in front of the segway and putting his hands on it until John could get his balance. You can see from the picture that this man wasn't a large man. All I could think of was "Mister, if I were you, I'd stand to the side. What if my 200 pound husband topples over on you?".

Finally, John quit bobbing back and forth and the guy let him start going down the lane:

Turning around didn't seem to be John's forte either because it took him a little while to do it.

SANY0171.jpg

Here he is coming back:

SANY0172-1.jpg

And here he is waiting for his "I Did It!" sticker.

SANY0173-1.jpg

By the way, they don't really give out "I did it!" stickers. I just made that up.:rolleyes1

John made his way back over to us. Of course, we were laughing still at his rather unique style of segway riding. He said when he was going faster, he could keep control. It was only when it was slow that it was hard to keep upright. I told him it probably doesn't help that he has to take a handful of epilepsy medicine four times a day either.

***I need to stop here. I can't find some of my photobucket pictures (again). Hope to be back to post another installment today.

How cool is that?!? I wasn't even aware of the segway thing. Probably because like I said before we're doing things geared for much younger kids right now. I'd like to go with just dh and do all sorts of fun things like ride Everest, but I think the guilt would get to me. I might miss them too. LOL

Great updates!!:)

We were really sad that Living with the Land was closed when we went last August too!! I knew my mom would have loved it.:sad2:

Yum...Lacey's almonds and frozen cherry lemonade sound so good right now!!:thumbsup2

I'm hoping in April we will have more time to explore Innoventions!! The Segway tour looks fun!! I'll have to check it out!!

Great pictures of Lacey and Jesse!!!:goodvibes

Lacey looks very happy. They're a cute couple!

How fun that you got to watch John on the Segway! My mom has decided that she and my aunt are going to do the tour in Epcot one of the mornings we're there. (Mom's big on over-planning her time there...she kept us going until we dropped in 2000, and we never even got to all of the parks!) I'd pay good money to be there to get pictures of them....:rotfl2:

It's funny because I jsut read about this segway thing in a newsletter I got yesterday in my email. I never knew they had "free" rides to do this.

If you have an extra day at Epcot, definitely check out the Innoventions buildings. There's enough stuff in the buildings that even little kids would find things to do.

I would love to go to Disney with just my husband. I say that but then I'd feel so much guilt about leaving Hunter that I would enjoy myself.

Great updates!!:)

I didn't realize that the picture of Lacey and her cherry lemonade was sideways until I had posted. Now, I'm too lazy to go back and fix it. I could go for one right now too even though is 38 degrees outside.

John asked me if I wanted to do the Segway and I just looked at him like he was crazy. I can hardly walk and chew gum at the same time.

Lacey is happy! I don't mean to brag but that girl has the most giving heart of anyone I know. She's give somebody the shirt off her back if she felt they needed it. I guess that's why I don't mind spoiling her.

I think John would love to the Segway tour of Epcot because then he'd have space to pick up the pace.

I don't blame your mom for wanting to fit everything in. At the same time, I've learned to slow down and enjoy the little things more over the years.

It's funny because I jsut read about this segway thing in a newsletter I got yesterday in my email. I never knew they had "free" rides to do this.

I didn't know they had the free rides either. That was the first time I had ever seen them.

:rotfl2: You guys have me laughing my rear end off! I can just see it in my mind's eye, you guys pedaling as fast as you could up the hill, dying laughing all the way!

And flinstoning it up the hill, GOOD ONE! :rotfl:

Hunter was too young to drive but when we got to the wooded area, we stopped and let him have a go. He was a little nervous that we would get caught but we kept an eye out for the lifeguards who were patroling the lake. I told John....."see we break rules!"

First, I miss Mel. But that day we so enjoyed the pool.

Second, I'll just have to make replys as I read. I have lots of catch up to do. You total heathens you, breaking all the rules. Totally shocked. Now to read more.

Just a note back to Silver Dollar City. I have done "fire in the hole' many times even with my eyes open cause it's dark in there. Thunderation to me is more like Big Thunder Moutain RR. I have ridden it over 100 times but never with my eyes open. It is just rough like BTMR. They have those 2 new roller coasters and the one even goes upside down but it doesn't look as exciting to me as Disney.

Ok, back to more reading.

I'm coming back in a little while to respond to the posts. Right now, I'm trying to sneak-type a trip installment while the boss has a client with him. Don't anybody say anything to my boss!

I am so contacting him. Of course I have to write to every attorney in Monroe. Ok, I won't be a tattle tale.

Lacey's a little more outgoing than Jesse. He likes to have fun but doesn't show it as openly as Lacey. You can't keep that girl from acting silly no matter where she is.

That is why they get along so well. Sorry I missed Lacey being home the first of the month. I know how excited and happy you were.

I am all caught up now so hopefully I can stay that way.

Have a good day\
Ginny

OK all caught up again...so sorry I have not been around again...busy planning a Disney trip that will be here before I know it...along with taxes , helping Dayne with his decision about school in Nashville...enough about me you know where I have been OH and yeah I do need to mention with all the:yay: Saints excitment!!! and my crazy trip to New Orleans

We had snow for about five hours this morning; stopped around 10:30...I bet you guys were hit pretty good with the white stuff! Hope Hunter had a great time!!

I love the pictures of Lacey and Jessie!!! great pictures they look so happy!
I did not know about the Segway... I think Danny and Dayne would love that (I wonder how old you have to be), the almonds look good too (I have pecans in my freezer I need a receipe for them I would like to do in Praline coating),
and too funny about feeling like a newbie on your first visit! I always have to have some sort of plan...even if I need to readjust it :upsidedow

:wave2: Connie

Sorry to interupt here. My name is Jane and I am new to this thread. I have spent the past two days reading your Disney trip report. I loved every minute of hearing about your trip and getting to know your family. My only question is ... did I miss something? The last post was on page 159 and then went on to another trip. Is there going to be more to your Disney trip?

You have inspired me to attempt a trip report with my upcoming trip to the World in May. I will be celebrating my 50th birthday so I am hoping to get some "button attention" myself ... hope I get more than Lacey did. Do you have any advice on the best way to do the trip report? Did you journal every day or just jot it all down when you got home? My memory is so bad sometimes, I am thinking I should pobably journal each day.

Thanks for taking me along on your trip!
