Disneyland 70th speculations and news

I mean to each their own but the Show now is not better then the OG or 2.0 Show

The flow might not be important to some people but its like movie editing, an entire movie can suck because of just editing alone to say the flow doesn't matter on the quality to me is just not true.

2.0 Was the best the show has ever been, it was the OG soundtrack, Murphy the Dragon, extras added on like the Croc, ursula and Flotsam and Jetsam and updated effects and fountains.

The show now is fine and yes most people "like" it but The General Audience seems fine with most crap thrown in front of it, I mean they ignore Ellia and other Pixar films but will make a billion Dollars for Moana 2 a very generic and just blame boring film

But as someone who grew up with the show and used to tell everyone it was the one show to see, now....sure go see it but its just as good as it used to be and to me at points boring because there is no flow they just throw in things because and I love Aladdin but it doesn't fit the show, WOC used to have a great Aladdin Segement that worked sooo much better then this

But to me the people saying its just as good, its like changing 1/3 the floats to Paint the night, changing the music to flow less and taking out the big finale and claiming its basically the same show...its just not its lesser then it used to be and if you don't care cool but I can say its disappointing the shape the show is in

You’re falling into the nostalgia trap. I think the current version of the show flows much better than the original, sans the Pinocchio scene. I don’t like that they retired most of the props, but let’s face it, it’s a 33yo show and labor is significantly more expensive these days.

There shouldn’t be any doubt that the DL version of Fantasmic is the most expensive production at either DL or WDW. Quite honestly, it’s pretty remarkable that it’s still running with minimal changes. They could’ve closed Tom Sawyer Island down and erected permanent staging areas but instead, for 33 years they’ve been setting up temporary ones instead.

The WDW prosecution had the opportunity to be something special, especially as it was replacing the former nighttime spectacular (absorbing its budget). Instead, it has never been nearly as good as the DL version. I’ll take what we got.

I don't think we're all using "OG" and "2.0" the same way.

AFAIK, the OG version included the dragon and the crocodile. Are you saying that they were added later?

What I consider 2.0 was when the Columbia started being used for Pirates instead of Pan. Plus other changes, but that was the most noticeable one, IMO.

2.0 For Me was in 2008 (2009 for the Dragon)

It has the OG soundtrack and flow but upgraded the effect, added the Eels, redid the Dragon and also upgraded the Crocodile at the end of Peter Pan.

Thats when the Show peak, years later they changed to the Pirates stuff then changed more in 2024

Magic Keys are also paused again

No clue why, the parks don't seem packed and they have the 70 dollar resident ticket...so I wonder if its to create more demand or what

We are nearing price increase time. The last magic key price increase was October 2024. Traditional months in the past when Disney used to like to do price increases were January (though usually not for annual passes), August and October. Hoping they don't go with August this year as for some that would mean 2 price increases before they ever got a chance to renew. Guessing if there is a price increase, it will be in October. I feel like they tend to withhold sales until that time to build up interest again despite the increase.

Only the two priciest keys were available. Allegedly these have the smallest base. They’ve been on sale continuously since last fall, sans a couple brief pauses. So anyone who wanted one… has one.

I’m guessing they were paused to draw buzz when all four keys become available again, which will be sooner than later. Likely at a higher price.

They have been consistently raising regular (non-MK) ticket prices every October. I am interested to see what they do this year on single and multiday tickets. I'm wondering if they will change the tier pricing structure at all.

Yes, everything went up on the same day last October: magic keys, single and multi-day tickets, base price for lightning lane. I think in an unexpected twist, parking didn't go up last year, but I might be remembering that wrong.

Today was the last day of Better Together. After two summers, and Coco construction starting soon, I'm not sure it will be back again.

As terrible as that parade is, I’m going to miss that infectious music. I don’t expect it to return. August 3rd is early. Disney’s fiscal year begins around October 1st. Usually the cost cutting doesn’t start until then…

They had an entertainment gap last year too in August when they started ending summer stuff but hadn’t started Halloween stuff yet.

Was it this early though? The years are running together in my head at the moment, but I can recall seeing an afternoon parade over Labor Day.

The floats aren't my favorite but I thought they had a great group of dancers and performers this year.

Agrees! We saw this nice lady who was really into the parade, doing all the choreography etc. We complimented her, and she said her son was in the parade and she showed up to as many performances as she could!

I think it was early last year. The Pixar summer thing already wasn't going that great. My nephew went last August during the lull, and I remember having the "is it worth going at this time" conversation with him and looking over the lack of entertainment on the schedule and the ride closures. Because of work and school obligations he had to go in August, but he was able to push his trip at least so his last day was the first day of Halloween. He said the parks were pretty much dead for his first two days so he got to ride a lot, and then he got to experience the Halloween stuff for his last day so that ended up making it feel worth it to him in the end. But I remember that even if he had gone earlier in August, the entertainment schedule was pretty sparse. I do feel this is a newish thing though. I agree with you that there used to be more summer stuff going on through August. I think with a lot of schools starting up again in August these days and with Disney's focus on Halloween, the company has just decided they can treat the first half of August like off-season and save some money. I too remember the days when August still had a lot going for it, but I generally wouldn't schedule a trip for that month anymore myself since I don't live nearby.
