Lisa,~Thanks you for the update of IASW what fun and happiness to sing with the little ones!!! great photo update, as well!! hope the water starts to receed before the spring!!! if not ya'll are going to need piroge's to get around instead of cars:eek:

:wave2: Connie

Morning Connie,

I told John the other day that we shouldn't have sold our aluminum boat. We may just need it!

Looks like the rain is getting dangerously close, hopefully it will start to recede before it causes problems. We hopefully won't send any your way - I think it is going to be dry here all week...

It's still rising! Scary!

Thanks, Connie. It's great that they got Markie a rental car. Now, we have to hold our breath that they decide to "fix" his car. If not, we'd get the depreciated value of his car which is about $1100-$1200 and then he is back to being without a car, and we'll probably have to take him mine as we just can't afford to get him one right now.

Sounds like the same boat we'd be in if something happened to Lacey's vehicle. I will continue to pray that everything works out just the way you need it to.

Thank you for taking the time to post this awesome trip report. You take great pictures. I am getting ready for my first ever trip to Disney next April. I can't wait!!!!

Julie

Welcome to my trip report Julie! You can see that we have a lot of chatter and a lot of fun here. Please please feel free to post comments. We'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for the picture compliment. I have a lot of not-so-great pictures but I throw them in anyway to help tell the story.

Where will you be staying on your first trip to Disney?

I'm with Ginny, now that song will not get out of my head. I am finally caught up again. I love all of your pictures. The outdoor pictures are great. Dale fusses at me when I take my camera out on IaSW or Pirates. He says he hates it when flashes go off when he is riding these rides and he thinks I shouldn't do it :sad2:. It is funny that Hunter said "Not again". Dallas and Dale say that to me all the time. We were at Cordova mall yesterday and I had to go when we got to the mall and then when we were leaving, Dale, Dallas and Tyler all three said at the same time "NOT AGAIN".......:lmao:. Men just do not understand.

Were your ears burning this weekend 'cause I was talking about you guys. I was telling Hunter all about your family. I sure hope that we can all meet during our respective Disney trips.

I am such a picture taking fool even more so since I got a digital camera a few years ago. Gotta capture the moment!

Hunter and John are always shaking their heads at me and saying "not again". I don't want another "I gotta pee moment" like I had in 2008!

UGH! My TR got closed again. Hopefully they will re open it. I went to post more pcis from my trip and it was closed. The last post was only a few days ago too, so not sure why it was moved to completed TR's.

I don't know if I updated here or not, but Skip had his hip replaced last Monday. He came home Wed. and is dogin pretty good. he's bored and antsy, and can't wait to get back to work. He's been not too bad, thank goodness. Knock on wood, of course! LOL!

I didn't know that Skip had had his surgery. It sounds like he is doing well. I know that it's hard to keep him down especially since you have the farm that needs running. Did they give him any time frame when he could start doing a few things?

Good morning all my Dis friends!

The boss hasn't made it in yet but I expect him any minute. Gonna try and get an updated posted.

Oh and since I have the It's A Small World Song in my head, you should too:

It's a world of laughter a world of tears.......

Continue on!

Jen, I was wondering why I had not seen any post on you lately...well somehow your thread disapperead off my sub list! Glad to hear all went well with Skip's surgery...now the hard part for you keeping him down until its time to get up and moving! :lmao:

How long does his doctor plan to try to keep him off of it?!? Danny was 12 weeks/ we were lucky he made it 6-8 weeks. He started driving again at 6 weeks and back towork at 8!! :headache:

Lisa,
I have finally caught up on your trip report. Dad lost his fight with cancer last Sunday (10-25-09). Its been a long week but you and I know he's definately in a better place. Please pray for Mom she's strong but needs a lot of support right now. We are taking Mom with us to WDW at the end of the month 11/28-12/5 for much needed vacation.

Now that we we all had the Small World song imbeded in our brains, we knew that we had to do something to get it out. What would it be? How about Peter Pan? Ummm.....nope....45 minute wait. How about Dumbo? Ummm.....hope....40 minute wait. Let's just walk on over to Liberty Square and see how the ghouls are doing at the Haunted Mansion. Great! Just a 15 minute wait. Everybody must be in Fantasyland.

While standing in line, Hunter looked at his watch and saw that it was:

Because it was dark, I couldn't take a decent picture of anything outside the Haunted Mansion. We were soon ushered into the stretch room and, of course, we had to look up when the lights went out so we could see Master Gracy "hanging" around. Then, the doors opened up and the "herding" began. There's got to be a better way to do the next portion of the line. It's horrible.

Lacey and Hunter sat in one doom buggy and John and I were in another. I tried taking pictures without a flash and this is the only halfway decent one I was able to get and it's bad.

100_2793.jpg

We exited the Haunted Mansion and this time we knew our destination. Splash Mountain! All of us were excited except for Hunter. He hates Splash Mountain. My mother doesn't help the matter at all. I know what you are all thinking. "But your mother isn't on the trip." She doesn't have to be. Before every trip, she secretly tells Hunter that he doesn't have to ride Splash Mountain. Then, she tells John and I that Hunter doesn't like it...makes his heart feel funny. I love my mother dearly but she makes the ride worse for Hunter than it really is. Years ago, he liked the ride. Over the years, she has made him not like it.

I don't remember if I put in the previous installments that I had gotten Fastpasses for Splash Mountain earlier in the day. If I did, then I just repeated myself. If I didn't, then I just did.:rotfl: Anyway, we knew that the only way to get Hunter on Splash Mountain would be to use Fastpass. If we had to wait in a long line, he'd chicken out or try to weasel his way out of riding. Even with Fastpasses, he tried.

Call me a bad parent, but by golly, I wasn't leaving him outside by himself and he was going to ride. He finally stopped complaining when John told Hunter he could sit beside him and he'd hold on tight to him. Hunter said "if you don't hold on to me, I am going to kick you in the goove." Because we knew he was talking out of his scared little head, we couldn't get on to him. Then, we got tickled and couldn't stop laughing which, at first, Hunter didn't like too much. But, then, he started laughing too and it helped his scaredness a little.

When they asked the number of people in our party, they directed John and Hunter to the front seat and Lacey and I to the second. Hunter didn't want to ride in front, so we switched. Two logs came by and then it was our turn. Lacey looked at the seat and said, "it's soaked". Not a good sign. Just seconds later and we were drifting our way through the mountain. I could hear John pointing things out to Hunter and trying to take his mind off the final drop. Everybody was having a good time until we started up that steep last hill. At which time I hear Hunter say "You don't want a hurting goove do you?" which set off the fits of laughter once again.

We plunged down into the briarpatch and got just a little wet. Not bad at all! Our log turned the curve and we saw another log coming down the hill and SPLASH. We all saw the big wave coming and we all ducked down. Lacey and I were soaked. Kali River Rapids soaked. We drift on into the mountain and it's cold. Teeth chattering cold.

The first stop after leaving our log was in the store.....to look for shirts! Lacey and I found a shirt as did Hunter. Hunter and John didn't get very wet but we told Hunter that we'd buy him a shirt to commemorate his nerves of steel. He asked his Dad if he wanted one to celebrate the fact that he didn't get a swift kick in the you-know-what. John declined.

Purchases made, Lacey and I immediately went into the bathroom to change our shirts. My shorts and underwear were dripping wet. I squeezed them out best I could which wasn't good enough because I still had a few rivelets of water trickling down my legs. We combed out our hair which was just as wet as our clothes. I looked in the mirror and I looked like a drowned rat. I'm just thankful I always wear waterproof mascara when in Disney World or I'd look like a drowned rat with black smudges under my eyes.:thumbsup2

We found our guys waiting on us outside the bathroom. We put all of our wet shirts in a bag. Hunter had decided that he needed to ride one last ride before we headed back to our resort. Big Thunder Mountain was up next! The wait time was just 10 minutes. Lacey didn't want to ride so I stayed with her and told the boys that I'd catch it on our next Magic Kingdom day. We hadn't waited two minutes when Lacey asked if I minded if she went ahead and went back to the CBR. She said her stomach wasn't feeling so good. It was that time. :guilty: I told her to go ahead but call us when she got back to the room.

I finally spotted John and Hunter coming off the ride. It was hard to see them because it was so dark near the exit and they would have passed me by if I hadn't called their names.

Because the extra magic hours would be ending soon, we started making our way towards the front of the park. We stopped to take a picture of Hunter in front of the Liberty Bell.

100_2799.jpg

And, then, we were at the end of Main Street and I took a few pictures. This is the only one that came out decent.

*****Interruption: The boss came in while I was in the middle of typing the installment. Need to go get a few things done. Will be back to post pictures of the castle and the statues in front of the castle.

Lisa,
I have finally caught up on your trip report.

I will keep your Mother in my prayers for sure. I'm sure it's really hard to lose a spouse. I will continue to pray for your entire family that the hurt you are feeling will pass soon. As I have told you before, I know how you are feeling....relief that he is no longer fighting the battle but then, being sad that you have lost your father.

I hope that the anticipation of the Disney trip will help you all.

Great update. i would've been cracking up along with you guys. Too funny!

Skip's doing pretty good. But he is driving me crazy at times. I'm getting nothing done, becuase my routine is just messed up with him here.

Sorry for your loss. I really am. No more suffering at least, but you will grieve regardless of that fact. Hugs and prayers are with you and your mom.

A trip to Disney is just what the doctor ordered.

It will be bittersweet.

Hey, Lisa! Another great update! Too funny about Hunter and Splash Mountain and his dad's "goov". :rotfl: Glad it survived the ride. :rotfl2:

Poor Lacey! It stinks to have that time during your fun time. It's a hassle to have to deal with and it hurts, making it hard to enjoy everything.

Love Hunters new shirt.

So very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Our prayers go to your Mom and your family. It is such a hard time for those who are left.

I hadn't heard Skip had his surgery either. Good luck to him and good luck to you. It is hard having husbands home when they can't do what they want. Prayers for continued healing.

Thought I'd show you guy what we worked on this weekend. Hunter had to do a project on The Ten Commandments. It could be any kind of drawing, model, etc. It just had to have the ten commandments themselves written in Hunter's handwriting.

Hunter and John made two molds from scraps in the cabinetshop and we poured plaster of Parish in them and let them sit overnight. Yesterday afternoon, Hunter took them out of the molds and wrote the ten commandments on the tablets with a pencil. It was hard to do because we made the front uneven with lots of texture to it. Once he had them written in pencil, he went back and wrote over the words in black permanent marker. The lines aren't straight and even slant a little upwards but the originals weren't perfect either. ;) We totally forgot to look at a picture and see where THE TEN COMMANDMENTS was written so he just wrote it on top of one of the tablets.

Next, we got gray, tan and brown paint and dobbed it all over the tablets to make them look like stone. We probably should have painted the tablets first instead of leaving them white because now there's white all around the words. Lastly, Hunter got a little brown paint and put it on the raised places on the tablets.

Hunter was really pleased with the outcome. I had to do the unthinkable this morning......help him get into the school carrying all of his stuff. We had the two tablets wrapped up and in a box. The box weighed probably ten pounds. Hunter had his viola case and his backpack. I just walked into the school lobby and stood while he left his other stuff in the office. Thankfully, the school office manager said he could go to his class and leave The Ten Commandments before school started. Otherwise, he would have had to carry around an extra 10 pounds to three other classes.

Pictures, of course:

Beautiful job on the Ten Commandments. I think they are keepers when Hunter is done with them at school!
