Stitch's Great Escape?

I haven't tried this ride, can someone tell me briefly what it's about???

Basically, you are a guard in a prison, and Stitch is the new inmate. His cuteness lulls the head guards into relaxing, and then he escapes. It's fun, but definitely sit up tall when the restraints come down and hold your breath for the burp. Those two tips helped me to enjoy it, and my Stitch-loving, ride-disliking 20 year old does enjoy it. I ride it for her, but I wouldn't say there's NO storyline. I find it amusing, but would rather ride Buzz another time, if I was the one making the choice! Hope that helps! :goodvibes

It's silly, but it isn't that bad. Definitely sit up and/or push the harness up when it's trying to come down or it'll be uncomfortable.

DH and I have experienced Stich a few times and thought it was funny!
We've always had a good group of people with us who laughed their heads off. Give it a try and see what you think. Hope you like it too.

It is ok but there is so much else to do that I would put this LAST on my list - and would not wait in line for it.

:confused3 I thought it was cute! But then, I really appreciate animatronics, so I got a kick out of it. Go figure, I think many of the rides in Fantasyland (except Philharmagic) are dated and dull. Though I get the sentimentality of it.

Does it really hurt????? :sad1:

Treading into murky waters here, because one person's "tickle" is another's "torture" but...

I'll attempt to explain the harness' design and purpose.

In addition to containing the stereo speakers for the audio effects,
the shoulder-harnesses are part of the attraction's PHYSICAL effects.
They lower before the main part of the show begins and touch your shoulders, then retract above your shoulders.

They are designed to appear "threatening" (they are the same ones used previously in Alien Encounter: The Extra Terrrorestrial and that show was supposed to make you feel VERY uneasy to be sitting in your seats.)
In fact, the seats, themselves are designed to feel uncomfortable.

During the show, the harnesses move down a bit and touch your shoulders (again) as "Stitch is jumping around the room" in the darkness (HE is supposed to be the one who is pushing down on your harness.)

Now, I can't say the someone was not "hurt" who says they were "hurt" by these harnesses, but they (like a snarling dog) do LOOK very "mean" as they come down over your head and touch your shoulders.

And, if you were not expecting them to touch you in the dark and you lurched up as you felt them move down, it is possible that you might experience something akin to pain.

Again, I can't begin to tell anyone what did or did not happen to them, but having been in the attraction (Alien Encounterl and Stitch's Great Escape many many times, I will say that what happens to my shoulders is not dangerous or lastingly painful... but, again, that's just ME.

(I will say that I have not read any reports of injuries from the harnesses.)

This past June my DS(6 1/2 yrs old at the time) and DH rode it. They loved it and convinced me to ride it later in the week. The reason why I did not ride the first time because of all the negative reviews from the board. But when I was convinced by my DS and DH to experience the attraction I LOVED it. I thought it was different and fun.

Thanks for the reply... I know that it won't hurt as in giving injuries... but it just sounded like some people felt pain from it...

I guess in theory that's what they are suppose to do, but that's not what they did for us. They touched our shoulders, and then seemed to ratchet DOWN another notch, not up. My daughter was so squished, she was squeezed in sideways with one shoulder out of the middle of the harness the whole time, and I had to slide down as far as I could too. I think part of the problem is that we (along with over half the other people in there) had tried to pull the harnesses down ourselves at first. It seems like the logical thing to do in order to assure it is at a comfortable level, and they DO pull down. A CM started yelling at us not to, and then they jammed down automatically. Information that would have been useful BEFORE we sat down instead of after. And again, it was well over HALF the people in there, so there was no communication error/misunderstanding. There was simply no communication period.

I personally love the attraction, and do it multiple times a day when in the Magic Kingdom.

I have to 100% agree with Robo as well, as it is an amazing audio-sensory attraction that uses great technology!

So that you'll know.

Any guest can push up (takes some force) on the harnesses and they will "give" and stay in the higher position.

Its like a "stuck window" kind of thing.
Push straight up and the harness will "give way."

As you said, they DO pull down... they also push UP, but you just need to know that and use a bit more force.

Stitche's Great Escape is overrated in my opinion. For the show you get, it's really not worth the wait. I have only done it once because I really didn't care for it and I am a Stitch Fan.

If you are a Stitch fan and haven't tried it, you should try it at least once and see what you think. Personally, I doubt I will ever ride it again.

This is one of our must-do attractions at WDW. I'm still annoyed that Alien Encounter went away (that attraction was AWESOME!!!) but this one is still fun.

Rumor has it that AE scared the crap out of Eisner but I guess we'll never know. :lmao:

When the first version of AE was created, it was not very intense, so Micheal Eisner declared that it should be re-Imagineered to become MORE frightening.

After that, (in spite of posted strong warnings) AE scared the heck out of kids in every show.

Today, with the new Stitch toned-down version of (basically) the same attraction...

There is generally ALWAYS a "hate Stitch's Great Escape"
thread active on the Disney boards.

But before it was reconfigured to Stitch... there was generally
ALWAYS a "hate Alien Encounter" thread active on the
Disney boards.

AE was the most-openly-DESPISED attraction at WDW for
the entire time it was open.

All I can say is that if they ever DO remove this
Stitch attraction, there will be wails of despair from
all the thousands of posters (they will materialize
out of THIN air) who "LOVED" ('Stitch was AWESOME')
Stitch's Great Escape.

And, for once, I'm not kidding!

My 8 year old Stitch fan enjoyed it a lot.

I wish they'd got rid of the harnesses or redesigned them when they redid the attraction. They could just as easily had speaker headrests.

The way the ride loads, Disney does a lousy job of explaining anything to people about their seats or what's happening. They need a video before the show, with real information, instead of that boring audioanimatronic presentation.

Now THOSE are "fightin' words!"

Skippy... Boring?

:goodvibes

It's long, boring, and they pump in the scent of Stitch's chili dog burp. Yuck--what a waste of precious WDW time.

couldnt have said this any better.

never was interested in doing this attraction but on our last trip my entire family wanted to go on , no lines were there, so i went.

now i know why i never wanted to do it. after the beginning, the guard anamatronic was pretty awesome, the rest of the ride was truly boring and honestly i felt like i was in a ride that belonged in toontown. as tasha99 said a waste of precious wdw time
