With Avatar: Fire and Ash’s release this week it’s time to look towards the next Avatar movie. You will remember Avatar: Way of Water was released in December 2022. The following name and release month is an unconfirmed rumor:

Title: Avatar: Earth, Wind & Fire
Release month: September

I know it's a joke, but I'm all for it!

Yeah with Cameron putting pressure on Avatar 3 performance at the box office, he might not direct or might not even move forward with the other two planned stories.

But for the story he wanted time for his cast to age.... thus the planned 2029 release date for installment #4. But I'm sure he's also feeling his age (71), and maybe starting to think about other things he would like to do.

I agree with you. I definitely think other people should direct the fourth and fifth installments, for it be nice to see their take on James Cameron's world of Pandora. Any director suggestions that come to mind?

My guess is they'd have to follow his scripts to the letter....

I don't know that anyone other than Cameron could actually handle it - maybe Robert Rodriguez? Maybe if this movie has a decent "wrap-up" type ending and future movies could be a bit different, but still on Pandora, that would be okay.

I watched the first 2 in theaters but I don’t remember much. I’m watching the new one tomorrow. I hope I’m not lost because I don’t remember what happened in the other 2 movies

Just in a nutshell:

Earth company is trying to mine from Pandora and is in conflict with the Na'vi natives.
Jake's twin brother was a scientist, but was killed.
Since the Avatar is genetically matched, Jake can use it.
He goes to Pandora as a marine but escorts the scientists in an Avatar.
Jake meets Neyteri and becomes more like the Na'vi.
Jake sides with the natives against the RDA.
To win their trust, he must become the Tarouk Makto - rider of the Last Shadow.
They win the fight and force the RDA to leave.

Many years pass.
Jake has three children - Netayem, Lo'ak, and Tuk, plus Kiri, who is the daugher of Grace's unconcious Avatar body.
Kiri seems to have a special connection to the world and can influence life forms to some extent.
There is also Spider, the child of the Colonel who couldn't be sent away into cryosleep because babies can't tolerate it.
The RDA returns starting conflict. They are specifically targeting Jake.
Colonel Quaritch and many of his soldiers are now "Recoms" in Avatar like bodies, but with their memories hardwired in.
To protect his family Jake moves out to the sea people's land.
The kids fon't get along well at first, but evnetuall come around/
The Colonel uses a group that hunts the whale-like creatures to draw them out.
The kids are taken in as bait.
A big fight happens where Jake's oldest, Nateyem is killed.
Spider does save his "father" but does not go with him.
They are allowed to stay with the sea people despite bringing the war there.

Next up, fire people!

I could write about the third one now. It was one heck of a ride!

So….
Someone “did” an unconscious woman?

This must’ve been before #metoo

Thanks for the recap

Well, no. They did not reveal how it happened in Way of Water, but it might have been presumed that Grace was pregnant in her Avatar body before she died, meaning she may have had a relationship. Kiria an dNetayem are very close in age. It is revealed in part three exactly what happened, but I won't spoil anything here.

I saw it last night. I loved it. I have no idea what happened with Kira even though you said it was revealed. I guess I didn’t pay attention. My only criticism is it’s 3 hours long. If the movie is not Titanic or Lord of the Rings it shouldn’t be longer than 2 hours 30 minutes.

But I loved the movie!

It was revealed that Grace's avatar became pregnant when they tried to preserve her mind in the avatar body. Grace died, but Eywa influenced the avatar body to have a parthenogenetic birth - essentially creating a clone of Grace's avatar, which is Kiri. This is why she has a special connection to Eywa.
[\SPOILER]

I just rewatched Avatar 1 and 2 the last two days. It does explain where Spider and Grace's kid come from and how the bad guy was resurrected as a NaVi at the beginning of Way of Water. So now the story makes a bit more sense. With Grace she's in a water tube all pregnant (and naked....they left in some graphic images there) it's like "It's a mystery how she was pregnant." I don't think the mystery is "how she got pregnant" but "who she got pregnant by". It seems like Grace's avatar was getting freaky with a Navi gentleman...or maybe more than 1. I don't know, they left that scene out of Avatar part 1. But I don't blame her...she has been out there doing science stuff for months (or years) and she has some biological needs to attend to. In fact there is only one person who can determine who Grace was with....Maury Povich. But I don't think he's going to Pandora anytime soon.

Avatar 1 starts with them flying to Pandora on a space ship and the leader is saying humans have to wear a mask. Then half the movie humans are going around outside without masks. Seriously. I must've seen 20 humans walking around Pandora in the jungle without masks on. That helicopter pilot from LOST never wears a mask and she flies a helicopter into Pandora and the helicopter is a military helicopter with open sides....so wouldn't she suffocate? James Cameron I expect better of you!

The mystery of Grace's Avatar's pregnancy is revealed in Fire & Ash. In Way of Water it is speculated that it was Norm in his Avatar - but I always figured if that were the case, Norm would just say something. It wasn't Norm.

There are not homans running around in the first movie without masks - not outside. Only the Colonel does it for a minute in that one scene where he kicks the door open, but he gets a mask fairly quicly. Trudy's Samson helicopter has a pressurized cabin. It is sealed off from the back and from the outside. The Avatars ride in back or humans with masks on. It is clearly sealed, except when she takes soem bullet holes to the glass. They are later patched when she flies again because they would have had to fix them. There is one known brief scene where humans inside the command center are seen maskless AFTER Quarritch kicks the door open - they should only be scrambling for masks at that point, but that's the only case of that.
