I just came back from a trip to disney and I noticed that stitch is EVERYWHERE. I used to like stitch a little bit but they just make it annoying. Disney pins now have stitch in other character's roles. Kids are getting stitch painted on their faces and buying stitch ears. He is slowly but surely taking Mickey's spot :guilty:. Even on buses and monorails and stuff, he is there and calls Magic Kingsdom, Stitch Kingdom (not to mention his lame new ride)

What does everybody else think?

That won't last much longer than the release of his next direct-to-video sequel. Don't worry, mice are not an endangered species at WDW. (But I can understand your annoyance.)

In my family we love stitch. If you only had little boys, you would think that before Stitcn, WDW had replaced Minnie, Mickey, Donald and Gof with Princesses. You can obviously still find the main characters all over the place, but if you are looking for boy specific special events, it is rather difficult. Princess breakfasts, teas, book readings, etc...none of it is geared towards boys.

So, for now, I think Stitch is there answer to try to broaden the WDW appeal to everyone in the family. Besides, there is just something loveable (and very Disney) about how Stitch becomes one of the family and has a big heart. He IS a 5-7 year old little boy at heart and my sons identify with him in many ways.

I agree - it will lessen again, so hang in there.

I'm with the OP. When Stitch woke me up one morning instead of Mickey, that did it! Mickey was so cheery, with his "Up and at 'em, pal!" and he was glad I was there! But Stitch, with his yelling orders, "No more sleeping!" Well, to use a phrase from another DISer, I was shot for the day!

We were just at WDW and I agree that Stitch does seem to be everywhere. I like Stitch but he did seem to be everywhere. I didn't care for the Stitch decals on the busses.

Didn't see the movie, don't want to, don't like him, hate the ride.
I want Mickey or Minnie to wake me up in the morning, unless Johnny Depp wants to drop by.

I can't quite figure out what Stitch IS and how he connects to Hawaii.
While I realize he is harmless, and if he works for little boys that is great....personally, he just doesn't move me!

Well, I like Stitch so I don't mind the change.

But Stitch "taking over" is the point of Stitch. He's a troublemaker and takes over.

I guess I'm just seeing it as part of his character and laughing along with it. But I can see where others may not like him.

They should probably give you a choice of a Stitch or Mickey wake-up. My grandkids would pick Stitch.

Well I saw the movie in a movie theater with my daughter and my grandsons and thought it was good. I bought the video when it came out, but I have not watched it. My grandsons have never asked to see it again. I think the MK attraction would be a B ticket by the old system. With all the time it took to rehab this attraction, you would think the imagineers could have come up with something better than this. I wasn't a huge fan of Alien and was happy to see it go. But the rehab should have resulted in an entirely different concept. Basicly, all they did was replace the Alien with Stitch. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Stitch. But I think the Disney imagineers could have endeared many more people to him if his ride was more "child" friendly and if Lilo was involved somehow. After all, the movie is called "Lilo and Stitch".

Well, I like Stitch so it didn't boter me too much. With one exception-when I was riding the monorail and Stitch came on w/the spiel and announced we were pulling into Stitch Kingdom, that kind took me aback.

Kids love the movie, hated the ride, 7 y/o bought the head-munchin' hat. But, for the life of me, why are they over-hyping this??? They don't seem to market turtle-talk w/crush and that is one of the best experiences my kids had (me too!).

I don't like the takeover either. A few months ago I was really excited that the 30 year anniversary pin to Splash Mtn. was being released. I'm not a pin buyer normally, but I remember riding SM at DL when it was the new ride (okay, I am old now). What bugged me---Stitch is on the pin! Why the Hanname was he on there???---he wasn't even invented 30 years ago when SM opened. They need to get off this Stitch kick already.

When DH and myself were at WDW this past May, we have this very conversation. Why is he EVERYWHERE?

We went on Stich's ride once right after it opened. That was enough for us.
In fact, I think the ending has ben changed since we went on it. No big deal.

Maybe in November when we take my sister down for her first trip we might go on it. But if we don't, no big deal. Would rather walk across the way and go on Buzz.

This won't bother me at all. My one year can pick out a toy Stitch from about 50 feet away. It was one of his first words, and prob. the word he says the most.

The kids and I got quite a kick out of the Stitch wake up calls, not that I really care too much for Stitch, we did think those were funny

Well, my eldest son would think a Stitch o rama would be cool (is Stitch still onthe Empire State bld in MGM? Or did they take him off of there... can't remember, but I recall my son LOVED that when it showed up there!) He also collects Stitch pins.

Now as for me, their mom -- I'd personally like to give the little blue cretin an intergalactic helping of good home training! It's hard enough raising kids to be polite and show good manners without a nose-picking, burping, greedy, grabby slovenly alien making it all look "fun". Ugh!!

As for what the imagineers were thinking when they made the Stitch ride -- well, I think the deeper, more pressing question is, which one of those imagineers discovered the "chemistry of stinky-smell" and can we teleport that person off the planet?!? I mean, lately it seems like "It's a Smelly WOrld After Alll....." Geez oh man, you get it on Figment, you get it on Stitch... it's as if someone worked for 20 years analyzing that dreadful odor you get on your hands at Splash Mountian from the hand guards and said, Hey I KNOW! Let's bottle this odor! Let's bottle it and make MORE of it and then USE IT to make ALLLLL OF OUR PARKS REEK! We can pump this stuff right into our guests' FACES! Bwahahahahahahahaha!"

THAT person must pay. He should be forced to sniff the feet of a thousand park pedestrians (on a day with heat, then rain, and then 90 degrees plus humidity) all while listening to an endless repeat of Stitch's wake up call.

Another vote for Stitch here - I just love that little guy.

But as my Granny always said,..."this too shall pass."

I guess you solved your own problem then! If you haven't seen the movie you wouldn't know what he is or why he's related to Hawaii!

Personally, I am totally with llovell, I've had enough of the princesses! There is so little for little boys and Stitch just makes it! He is DS's (6 y/o) absolute favorite! I was never a girly-girl growing up and the now frilly dress thing and crowns and shoes and purses and the likes just doesn't do it for me! Yes, it may be different if I had a daughter, but since I don't, I just don't get it! Everyone has their likes and dislikes and the princesses are definately a dislike and Stitch is totally a like for us!

Yes Stitch is taking over WDW... and it is about time. I think he makes a great counter-balance to the Princesses (who by the way drive me nuts).

Personally, I think Stitch is one of the best characters Disney has created in the modern era (my opinion I know). I also think that his taking over and appearing everywhere is consistent with his character. To see evidence of this just tune into the special features on the Lilo & Stitch DVD (particularly the original trailers).

And as we say in some circles...

Long live Stitch!
