Stitch Height Restriction

If it is 44" my DD is going to be very close. Have to put her in tall sneakers.
:D

Seems that if a person isn't tall enough to experience all of the special effects that they should still be allowed to go on it. Are they saying that being shorter would make it dangerous to be in the restraints?

I'm assuming that many (most?) kids who are 5-6 yo would meet the 44" restriction. My son is average height and I think (with shoes on) he'll meet the restriction when we go in December (he'll be almost 5yo). I'm going to hedge my bet with him, though, and tell him that he might be able to ride the 44" restriction rides so he doesn't count on it. He doesn't know about the Stitch attraction, but wants to go on Space Mt and Mission:Space.

Funny sidenote...my husband was out of town for a couple days and when he returned the first thing that my 4yo said to him was "I'm 44" tall with my shoes on!!!". Jake so wants to get big!

I think part of the concern is also that children too small for the effects would also be small enough to slip out of the seat. From what I've read, it gets dark for much of the experience, just like AE, so if a little one got scared and tried to bolt in the dark, it would be very dangerous for them and the other guests. The seating system not only provides the effects, but essentially restrains you from taking off once it gets dark.

I wanted to update the thread with the following information posted on 10/18 at Screamscape.com:

2004 - Stitch’s Great Escape - (10/18/04) While few people seem to have had any luck getting into a sneak preview of Stitch, several have reported seeing them in action, though most seemed to be special groups with badges and on the chance it was open to the public, one person reported that they were only looking for famlies with small children. It seems the height limit will be lowered to accomidate the smaller kids and they wanted to test out the show and seat restraints on their new smaller audience members. (The rumored number being tossed about may be 35 inches, which is the same as the Barnstormer I believe).

Stay tuned!

Just wanted to add what I heard at MK the other day. As many of you know I work at MK and some of the research team where talking about a project they had at Stitch. They said they were brining in families with smaller children and they were doing a restraint check in order to find out what the height should be. Because the height requirment is not due to a "Safety" aspect like BTMRR or Splash but more a comfort level they were bringing kids of all sizes and they were going to have their parents write down everything they say from how comfortable they were in the restraint to how scared they were during the show. They were going to figure out the height requirment from there. So iti s still up in the air. Disney has created this ride for the kids so I would not expect the final decision to be 44' but we will see. If I hear more I will definetly post, but I wanted to let you know that they are in the process of determing what it should be with a test group.

Ok, so the minimum height will be at least 44 inches. Those of you with kids at 44 inches and above will be able to enjoy the attraction for sure.

Testing is going on to determine if the height should be lowered and to what height it should be lowered. So, those of you with shorter kids, don't fret until the official opening with the officially posted height requirement.

To anyone going for the AP preview at the beginning of Nov.... I imagine they will have the height requirement ironed out by then. So, pay attention to the sign and let us know what it says.

As for me, I'm less than 4 weeks away and will definitely be on this one as the official opening is Nov 16 - right smack in the middle of my trip. WOO HOO!!!

Ugh, my 4 yr old dd is going to be crushed if the ride is 44 inches. We are going in May 05 and I doubt she will grow 4 inches in 7 months! Most kids into Lilo and Stitch are in the pres-school crowd and I will be shocked if they do not lower the height requirement. Dinosaur nearly felt like I was flying out of my seat and that is only a 40 inch requirement. I wish I knew how they decide those height requirements.
