You know, Im reading your options, and it's ticking me off. It seems like theyre attempting to get out of having to file any sort of lay off / unemployment with Illinois.

Youve been with the company long enough to ask them to work with you, with this. It's not right, and again - you have paid into that unemployment (as have they, but thats too damn bad. That's why it's called 'unemployment insurance')

See what you can do about getting them to mark this as a LAY OFF (if you dont choose the reduced thing) because it doesnt matter how they slice it - it's a lay off. They can call it what they want, but it's a flipping lay off. This is probably part of the reason they're attempting to get around anyone knowing such by not emailing it out to everyone. That email alone, can get you unemployment.

Anything in writing about this?

You might want to post this as it's own thread, on the CB. See what thoughts you can get from other people, who might know more about this, than any of us would.

Maybe someone has had the same thing happen, and they can tell you which options are best. Or someone in HR that can tell you why theyre not calling this a lay off, and putting it in a voice mail!!!

Heck - what if you stayed strong, and see what happens when 'the lay offs begin'???

Well, if the 11 week package is signing anything about not suing them - and they dont mark it as voluntary, that could be a good dealio, for now.

I dont like that none of the options mark it as lay off. It's like theyre attempting to get out of the unemployment thing, and AGAIN that is YOUR money. And in a voice mail? Sneaky.....

My mom was a CFO/CPA, and dealt a lot with unemployment taxes, HR and the such - that is where my vast knowledge of this comes. Too bad she's not still alive, cuz she'd be a good person to ask about this. I could attempt a seance tonight, if you'd like SUN - but quite frankly, I have a lot of stuff to talk to her about, about myself.

Whoa! Hold the phone! Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, but I don't think I'm going to get laid off. There are going to be layoffs, but I think I'm safe as far as my group goes. We have a bunch of contract people in our group and I think they would be the first to go. Our group is also the part of the business that is expanding and there is a lot of growth. Our company did great last year, this year is going to be rough which is why the layoffs.

With that being said, I know I'm not 100% safe, but I think I am. (unless they track internet usage, then I'm in trouble )

The reason I am even thinking about it is the flex option is tempting even if I am safe. However, I do not know anymore than what I told you. I'd have to talk to HR to get numbers. I would love to work 3 days a week, not sure if I'd love the salary cut & reduced benefits that go along with it though.

I'm hoping my supervisor will call a meeting and give us some info as to how many if any she has to cut. I don't think she knows anything right now either. So, I guess it is a sit and wait unless I really want to pursue one of those options, even though I don't think I'll be laid off. Make sense?

Thank you for all that. I've been with this company since out of college so I do not know anything about unemployment, etc. I do appreciate all your responses.

Sunday..homework maybe get an early start on my research paper. Go grocery shopping.

I'm just doing house projects and cleaning all weekend. We are going on the market on Monday. I hate people walking through my house so I am really not looking forward to being on the market, but if we want to move into the fance new house that is part of the deal. Yuck!

Sun ~ that is COLD!!
Its a balmy 30* here today & we had a light dusting of SNOW!! UGH..

Ok so the date went very good.
I made chicken alfredo, steamed broccoli & crusty bread. (I had no idea that pillsbury had this stuff in a can, but it was good).
So he came over at 6:45. When he got here I started the pasta. We sat and talked a while. It was nice. We ate, talked, talked, talked, I think he is going to get hockey tickets for us. We stayed at my house until about 9 and then headed to Porterhouse. We had a bet on how many games were on this one machine. The loser had to buy the winner an AMF. Some sort of drink. We ended up at the Hog for the rest of the night. We went back to his house and played the game cube~ Mario karts & some other Mario game.
But it was fun. We talked & talked & talked. He is usually very quiet, most of the time. But I guess I will see him again when the bday party I am at ends up at Papa's.
While we were eating he was like this is really good.

Listen to how mean I am........ We had our stroller for Disney in the hallway closet and last night the snow / ice buildup on the roof started to leak in there. DH is so mad b/c it happened once before and there was a huge bubble so he broke it and let all the water come through. Well, when he was doing the fireplace wall, he fixed the closet which he said was a huge pain. Anyway, the point of my story. DD comes down this morning and says, "Why is the stroller out?" I'm like, "We're going to Disneyworld!" She's half-smiling like, "No, we're not." I'm like, "No, just kidding." She didn't believe me so it wasn't really mean.

So, whatcha all do this weekend? We ran lots of errands yesterday and then went to dinner. Today, I think DH is going to paint the dining room and then we will probably clean b/c everything is dusty from him sanding the walls. I can't wait until that room is done. Now, we need to get a dining room table and still searching for that computer cabinet!

My weekend has gone by pretty fast!!
Last night my friends suprise party was a blast!!
We looked so HOT!! She was so suprised!! We made jell-o shots & had wine coolers it was so fun!! Then we went to Papa's. I saw the new guy there.
Today I am not feeling so great.
Oh did I tell you that I might have torn my ACL? I will know after my MRI in the morning.

I've been planning our vacation all weekend, well in between cleaning the house. We are going to the Upper Peninsula for 6 days/5 nights in June. I'm going to book one of these cabins for one of the nights. I thought it would be fun. I love those campy (DH hates when I say 'campy') places, like 1950's roadside America (as long as they're clean ). I hope he likes this place, it's supposed to be a smaller version of Fort Michilmackinac that's up in Mackinaw city.

So, just an informal poll, do these types of places make you go or ?

We're going to Copper Harbor (the very tip of the U.P.) so we'll pretty much be driving/touring our whole trip. I wanted to stay in a Teepee one night (at a state park, they have them for rent) but DD8 if afraid of being eaten by a bear.

Cat, the tents make me go too. There was a time I enjoyed camping, I much prefer a comfy warm bed nowadays. (FTR, the teepee we could have rented had cots in it and a cement floor. )


I just love this corny stuff, I should start a thread on it. DH and I went to Niagara Falls a few months after we got married and I insisted we eat at the Flying Saucer:

He still shakes his head when I mention this one. FTR, the food was really good, we went for breakfast, and it was CHEAP too!
