Stinkeye!!! Stinkyeye!!! Stinkeye!!! Stinkeye!!! Stinkeye!!! Stink Eye ! ! !!

What's a bikini barista? :confused3

Good morning! UGH! I've been up since 3:30AM. I couldn't fall back asleep. So, I came into work at 6:45 so I'll be leaving around 3:00. :)

It is -5 here, -25 with the windchill. Lovely!

And we have bowling tonight. :headache: It's too cold to go bowling!

So, I was having a poopy day yesterday and came home to some good stuff! My Aunt sent me $100 for my b-day, which is Sunday BTW! (just had to sneak that in there) I have no idea why she sent me $ b/c I don't think she sent me anything the last couple of years which I don't expect anything at all. She spoils DD. They have lots of $$$$. She actually gave my sister $1800 for her new (used) car. I loaned it to my sister, then my Aunt gave it to me. Anyway, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Then, I had a voicemail from Southwest Vacations and they said they were going to credit me the full amount for our cancelled Vegas vacation. :woohoo:

Even better - we have Monday off of work for good old Martin Luther! I'm going to party like a rock star Sunday night for my b-day. (not really, well, maybe on the Wii :lmao: )

Whatcha all doing? Sleeping?

Angel - Have a fabulous trip! *insert stink eye*

Wow $100 and a full refund! SWEET! Thats awesome Sun!

A Bikini barista is a coffee shop employee in bikini. One of the contestants on Big Brother one time was a bikini barista. I just don't want anyone is such minimal clothing near my food and beverages! LOL!

I'm getting excited. Running around doing last minute packing. Just got the camera all charged and popped it and the charger into the carryon. Dh and I got married before our first cruise but he booked me under my maiden name which was fine because my passport is in my maiden name. But, this time for some reason we totally didn't think about the fact that the passport was still in my maiden name until it was too late to try to get a new one. So DH called Carnival and asked them about it and they were like no big deal we have that happen all the time, people get married, no biggie, just bring your passport, your id, and your marriage cert. So he is cool as a cucumber, but I guess because I wasn't the one who talked to the person on the phone, I am all nervous about it like they won't let me on the ship or something. He's like STOP WORRYING! But worrying is what I do best!

And yes I realize that it seems like the smart thing to do would be to call them myself and quell my fears but I am afraid I'll call and they'll tell me the other girl was crazy! LOL! I'm sure it will be fine I'm just a tiny bit nervous about it.

Yes, they are girls who serve coffee at drive up espresso stands while wearing nothing but bikinis. My co-worker was saying she thought they were just called that because they wear minimal clothing. She didn't realize we really had girls who only wear their bikinis. A stand was robbed recently at gun-point and there has been video on the news of this poor bikini girl running to the till and getting all the money out and handing it to him and then running to the back of the stand to hide. Poor girl. I prefer to go to work fully clothed!

I'm sure you will be fine. I hate that feeling though when you know there could be a problem and you just have to get there to make sure it's okay.

Happy Sailing!

Listen to what stick in the hiney did.....
:lmao:

Sun ~ that's great that they refunded all of the money! Darn it is really cold over there.

Angel ~ Happy Sailing..have fun...*insert stink eye*

Xena ~ is this the second time they were robbed?

I don't know how many times it is, they are always being robbed. They are an easy target I think because early in the AM there is a young girl in there alone usually. Espresso stands are always on the news.

I just bought my 2009 calendar at Costco. Have you ever gotten your photos done at Costco? If you do they have a complete section online of things you can make with your photos. I had this calendar last year and it was great so I got another. It is like a 5 x 7 spiral notebook day planner.

I made a Disney one of course! I have a cool picture of a garden that I love at the Boardwalk on the front cover. Then on the inside cover I sort of did a hidden mickey picture that I like. It is a closeup of the three plates on the wall of the shop in Morocco. If you spend much time in Morocco you probably know what I mean. The only bummer was they start in Feb 2009 now. I missed January!

We have a couple of drive up coffee houses here but none of them are bikini clad.

So I woke up this morning and..........I'm getting sick!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So I have cold-eez, airborne, a C-boost smoothie, a bag of veggies, anything to chase this away quick! I spent $50 at Wal-Mart!! LOL!

That should do the trick. Airborne always works for me. When I feel it coming on I take that one to two times a day and if I do still get a cold at least it is very minimal and I don't feel bad. Also, SLEEP!

Garlic kills it too, and my g/f SWEARS by Zycam (but Ive never used it)

What dirty man would go to get a coffee served to you by a bikini broad??? Perv's. I dont care what the dude looks like who serves me coffee, but I want him clothed. I dont want his nasty testosterone laden body near by jave. Blech! I need a clothing barrier!!

ZICAM! :thumbsup2

They are nasty, but that's what I took when I got sick before our pretend Vegas trip. I think it helped b/c it didn't last too long.

I hope you do not get sick, Angel.

Xena - Let's see that calendar, pictures please. REMINDS me, where are my ring pictures SLACKERS!

I used to take zicam but then I read reports about it that people were forver losing their sense of smell, so now I just stick with Cold-eez.

As soon as it ships in about a week I will get you some. I also have some pics of Noel in her purse and her cute doggie bed we got her. I was even so clever for you all that I put a ruler behind the doggie bed while I was taking some so you can see how tiny she is. I need to download all of this onto the computer and get them to you. I'm not going to make any promises about doing this any time soon however, as we are going to list our house on the market on Monday and I have a few more projects to get done. :scared1:

Welcome to Xena's Pet Peeve Moment!

How many years would you say it has been since we started using answering machines/voice mail? 20, 25, 30? I don't even know! I think it has been enough years that we kinda get it now. I call sooooooo many people every day at work and leave messages for many of them. I have to sit there first of all while it rings until they don't anwer. Then I have to listen to their pleasant little message. Then after sitting through all of this I have to listen to the automated message that explains to me how to leave a message. I get it now. I really don't want to hear the instructions again. Can we have an option for turning off the instructions for the phone users of America who have left a message before and remember how to do it well enough that they can do it again without the tutorial?

Thanks for listening, this concludes Xena's Pet Peeve Moment.

OMG get out of my head! I have this rant every time I call someone! Do we REALLY need instructions on how to leave a message???

btw:

The Ansafone, created by inventor Dr. Kazuo Hashimoto for Phonetel, was the first answering machine sold in the USA, beginning in 1960.:thumbsup2

Wow. It's even older than I thought. We really should know how to use it by now.

Xena - I agree! At work, we can press # to bypass voicemail messages, but some people know how to turn off that option so you can't bypass their message. UGH! Why do that? I can see if you are out of the office, but not your normal everyday message.

Want to hear my rant! I left my purse at work today! I can't believe I did that. I do not work in the office again until Tuesday! Luckily, a gal on my bowling team is going to bring it to me. Whew! So much for picking up dinner before bowling, I have no money!

Ok, so I didn't want to type this at work since I was on the network. Now that I'm not, here it goes. We had a company wide voicemail about layoffs. They are offering a voluntary layoff deal (4 options):

1.) retire (I'm not eligible, you need 30 years, I have 9, not even close)
2.) unpaid leave for 1 year, benefits remain (I'd love this if I had a baby, not so much right now)
3.) Flexible service / job share (reduced pay & benefits) - TEMPTING!
4.) Voluntary leave w/ a severance package (the package stinks, based on years of service, mine would be 11 weeks paid)

After those "options", they will do layoffs. :scared1:

Scary times!

Aww...Sun that just stinks. I hope it all works out for you.
Angel ~ I hope you get better super fast!!

Ok so I think I have my menu planned for tomorrow night.
Either shrimp scampi w/ angel hair pasta or chicken alfredo, steamed broccoli & warm crusty bread.

Agreed. I also hate how long it takes to listen to my own messages. After I delete something, it says "To undelete, press 9.....(long pause)" Just frickin' delete it already.

Oh crap SUN! CRAP!!!! :headache: :sad2: :sad1:

UGH! Im so sorry. MAN!

3 - is tempting, but how reduced is your pay (and will it cover your bills, etc. Who carries the insurance in the family? Can your husband toss you guys on his, if yours is gone? Will it still pay for sick days? That a big one to think about without a lot more details)

4 - When you say its a crappy package - money wise? Is that negotiable at all? Maybe it is. Let me also tell you, that in Illinois, if part of the severance anything you have to sign about not 'suing them' or proceed with legal action against them? Like - signing off on any rights on any proceedings against them....then you can collect unemployment, ON TOP OF your severance package. Which means, the day after you leave, you can collect unemployment (which is currently at $880 / after taxes - every 2 weeks, if you made more than $40,000 per year - for 26 weeks, and 9 additional emergency weeks, if you qualify) This would be in addition to your 11 weeks severance, and could put you in a good financial place, while you look for more work.

BUT - if they leave it as voluntary leave - you cant collect. You have to ask them to proceed as a lay off with it, as youre applying for unemployment. REMEMBER - that is YOUR money, you paid into it. No shame in collecting unemployment.

Just a couple thoughts to think about. AGAIN - Im very very sorry. It is incredibly stressful. Im so sad for you. :sad1:

What exactly is it you do? What's the market look like for your type of jobs?

Check here - www.simplyhired.com (it's a job search / search engine. So it lists jobs from Career Builder, Monster, Hot Jobs, all over the place) - see whats out there for you, before you make any decisions.

Another thought - unpaid for one year.....

Will they be marking that down as a 'lay off'? If so, again - you can collect unemployment ($880 / every 2 weeks, after taxes) and during that year, you can also be looking for another job, because you dont really know what is going to happen in a year.

And unemployment in Illinois has gotten ridiculously easy. You can apply online, and call in your status every 2 weeks, on the phone. You never even have to get out of your pajama's (I know you like that ;) )

That might be an option too, depending on how much money you guys need to 'make it' - kwim?
