Still Sassy after all this time!

Wow two long lost sassies are back. :yay: Hi Heather and Bonnie. It was so nice hearing from you again.
Heather I'm glad to hear that Joey is doing well with his new school. You know we haven't had a good Joey story in a long time. So how old is Kate now? I've got two teenagers in my house so if you have questions just ask away.

Bonnie I can't believe that Heather is already sixteen. My how they grow so fast. Kelsie will be 18 next month and all we seem to talk about now is college. That's so bittersweet for me.

I'm just giving this thread a much deserved bump. So where is everyone? I know I'm guilty too of not showing up here as often as I should.

Let's see where to begin............This weekend we took Kelsie and a few of her friends to the college she wants to attend in the fall for their preview day. We got to see all the dorms, tour the campus and meet with some of the professor's. We had intended on staying the night and going to a football game but the rain changed our plans on that.

Is everyone gearing up for Thanksgiving? My kids are off of school this week. They have a dentist appointment in about an hour. Good way to start off the week! I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for Mark's family. Remember he is one of 9 kids but thankfully some of his siblings will be celebrating with the other side of the family this year so I'll be having 28 for dinner. I've cooked on Christmas day before but this if my first Thanksgiving. I usually cook most of the same stuff for Christmas so it really isn't much difference. Wish me luck!

Hey Tricia! Good luck with Thanksgiving dinner -- I'm sure it will be wonderful. We are going to the in-laws as usual...It should be fun. I haven't seen my nieces in way too long and they are 3 & 5... I don't have to cook much... I get grossed out cooking poultry...I do it, but I don't like it...

When I hosted Christmas I did Braciole and pasta and it was wonderful. I am so hungry for that now...

I have to grade papers today and try to get in to the chiropractor. Then work part of day tomorrow and then off. I have to use vacation days up and then on Dec 11 begin my carpal tunnel surgeries. So don't know how much computering I will be doing....

I hope all the Sassies enjoy Thanksgiving and your families!!!!

Hi Sassies! November hasn't been very good for my family. First at the beginning of the month my brother's house had a fire and they lost almost everything. It has been devestating for them and at least now they are in a rental home instead of a hotel. They will be out of their house for about 4 more months.

Then last Monday Brian went to the dr. for what he thought was bronchitis. His dr. ended up sending him in for lab work and a chest x ray because she thought it was an infection around his lungs and not in his lungs. Turned out he need 2 stents put in arteries in his heart because they were 80% blocked. The dr.'s also think he had a very mild heart attack before that and he did have a mild heart attack after the stents were put in. There is no damage to his heart and he is finally home and feeling ornery that he can't do too much. So this Thanksgiving I am thankful for my husbands health, my home and his very thorough family dr.

Tricia, how nice to have your kids home all week! My boys have half days today and tomorrow and no school on Wednesday.

Julie, I saw a few pages back that the adoption didn't work out. I'm sorry.

Squiddy, love the trip report! Glad your new testosterone carrier enjoyed Disney!

Angie and Wilma, lets hear about those cruises ladies!

Hi Judi, Shannon, Kimmy, Bonnie, Heather and all other Sassies!

Have a great Thanksgiving Sassies and hug your family!

Oh Bex-how scary!!! :hugs: I'm SO glad Brian is doing better. We all really should be thankful for our health-we just take it for granted. Thank goodness they caught it before he had a major heart attack! And that's horrible about your brother's house. At least nobody was hurt. Was the house completely destroyed? Do they know what caused it?

Julie-I LOVE braciole. It seems like it would be really hard to make. It always makes me think of Everybody Loves Raymond. Did you ever watch that show? Ray's wife made better braciole than his mother, and his mother was not too happy about it!!

Our cruise was fun, but I think we'll try a different cruise line next time and definitely a different itinerary. Mexico was really hot and humid-even the first week of November. The food on the cruise was horrible. But they upgraded us to a balcony stateroom for free!!! :yay:  :cheer2: It ROCKED!! It was so cool to sit there and watch and listen to the ocean. We had a dolphin playing outside our room one day. Dwight was a little bored during our last 2 sea days. I was totally happy sitting on deck and reading my book, but he has to be doing something. I downloaded the Harry Potter audiobooks onto my MP3 player for him before we left, and that was a lifesaver. He loves HP!!

Tricia-28 people. WOW!!! I would be a nervous wreck. But I know you've done this before, so I'm sure it will be fantastic.

We're going to my moms for Turkey Day. I have to make the pies (pumpkin, pecan and apple). Luckily I only work a half day Wednesday. I think I'll make a turkey dinner for us Saturday. Plus I'm going to put up our Christmas tree and decorations this weekend.

Anyone doing the Black Friday thing? I think I might for the first time this year. Target has a couple of things I want. I go to a craft fair every year with my mom on BF, but we don't leave until 8:00 so that leaves me plenty of time since Target opens at 5. I just don't know how early I should get in line. :confused3

Julie-I LOVE braciole. It seems like it would be really hard to make. It always makes me think of Everybody Loves Raymond. Did you ever watch that show? Ray's wife made better braciole than his mother, and his mother was not too happy about it!!

Angie,
I think that episode of Everybody loves Raymond is a big reason of why I wanted to try it. It really isn't too bad to do. I mostly followed this recipe at the BOTTOM of this page: http://www.spaghettisauceandmeatballs.com/ Now, I was able to order my meat already cut "braciole style" and it was thin, so I didn't pound it out. It is better the longer you cook it and fresh Basil is a must. I have also been known to use toothpicks if I didn't have the string.

Sorry to hear about your cruise. Which cruise line was it? I have never been on a cruise...actually I don't know if I could...to many Poseidon movies...

I shopped some today and may do a little tomorrow. I don't like the BF thing, although online isn't too bad....:surfweb: :goodvibes

Have a Great Thanksgiving everyone!!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been so MIA... Not a whole lot of computer time lately, but I can check facebook from my phone.

Bex, I am so, so sorry about your family's hardships. Glad Brian's Dr. found his problems in time, and glad he is on the mend. I cannot imagine what you've been going through. And your poor brother & his wife... :sad2: Thank God no one was hurt. It must be devastating to lose all of your things, but at least it was things, and not loved ones.

Angus, which cruise line were you on again? Ryan & I went on Carnival for our honeymoon, and it was just "meh." Of course, that was partly due to his not wanting to do anything but sit in our room on sea days & watch movies. He HATES the sun. Not sure what I was thinking booking a Caribbean cruise.:confused3 How was black friday? Did you go out?

Tricia, how did dinner turn out?

Julie, how was dinner with the out-laws?

We spent the weekend at Ryan's dad's house in Ohio. Thanksgiving was actually my birthday, which was sort of a mixed blessing. Usually I'm in the car either to or from their house each year, so it was nice to not be in the car this year. However, I spent it at my in-laws. ;) (they are my annoying in-laws, not my awesome ones.) But I did go see New Moon last weekend with Bonnie as a pre-birthday day out. It was great to see her, and even better to see one very buffed up Jacob! MEEEOOOW!

I did go shopping Black Friday with Ryan's mom, Aunt, sisters, and cousins. (the good side of the family) We got up at 1:30, were at Old Navy & B&B Works by 3 am. It was a madhouse! But it was fun. We always laugh a lot when we go. So many nuts to make fun of, and the sleep deprivation makes us slap happy & giggly.:rotfl: I got back around 2:30 pm, and they all went out again! Crazy.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend! I promise to get on more this week!

Hi Sassies! I have decided that I am too old to pull an all nighter anymore. We went shopping at 11:30 on Friday. Toys R Us opened at midnight and it was a madhouse so we skipped it went to Walmart. It was so quiet in there since the big deals weren't starting until 5, however there were lots of things that were all day deals so I snatched up Brendan's big gift then. Then on to Old Navy, another madhouse! Then Kohls, Target and Kmart. Didn't get much, but still had fun with the company I kept!

Happy late Birthday Shannon!

New Moon was substantially better than Twilight and wow Jacob was yummy! He was perfect in the role and the special effects were pretty good too. The actor that plays Jacob is from Michigan, about half and hour away from my house. I wonder if he goes home for holidays.;)

Good Morning Sassies, it's back to school day for the kids. It's always hard after having them home for the week.

Becca I'm so sorry to hear about Brian and your brother and his family. How are they all doing?

Shannon happy birthday a little late to you my friend. :cake::bday: I hope you had a good day and bought a little something special for yourself in all that shopping madness.

I went shopping with my girls on black Friday. We left home at 3:30 AM and were back home by 8:30. We got lots of good deals and I must say that all the people I came in contact with were very friendly. I think my best deal of the day was at Shoe Carnival. Kendall wanted a pair of boots that were originally $50.00 but on sale Friday for $19.99. Being one of the first 100 people into the store you got a $10.00 off gift card. So I got her the boots for a grand total of $10.00.:thumbsup2

My Thanksgiving dinner was very nice. We only had 21 people so I wasn't nervous at all. The day and weather was beautiful so the kids all played outside most of the day while the men watched football and the ladies enjoyed the best rum punch I've ever made.

Thanks ladies. Had a nice birthday (spent with my in-laws-- there are limits to how much fun it could be!;))

I went out on Black Friday too, at 2:30 a.m. I go every year that I am at Ryan's dad's in Ohio, as there is nothing else to do there. It's nice for a day, but I am not cut out to live in the country!

We hit Bath & Body Works at 3 am, then Old Navy, Kohl's, Target. After breakfast went to the mall for Sears, JC Penney, & Macy's. I didn't buy a whole lot, but got great deals on what I did get. Especially the boys' coats from Kohl's.

Having a rough week so far... Nasty cold & pink eye, no doubt caught from some horribly infested shopping cart handle on Black Friday. Thank you Unwashed Masses.:rolleyes1

Everyone needs to post pics of their Christmas trees when they get them up! Mine will be finished today. Needs another string of lights....

Good morning Sassies! Brian is back at work half days this week. All I can say is thank goodness. That man is not made for being at home and not being able to do much. Driving me batty, I'm super thankful he's okay though.

Shannon, I'll post my tree pic this afternoon. I love having it up! Although Brendan did a lot of the placing of the ornaments so its not quite as neatly done as previous years.

Have a fun and Sassy day!

Where's Wilma? Did she sink on her cruise?

I miss Wilma!:sad1: I hope she hasn't been eaten alive by two-year olds. Or Wally.

Bex, glad Brian is recovering quickly. Is he well enough now for you to give him the "Don't ever scare me again like that" beating?;) And how is your brother doing?

I'll post pics tonight of our tree. First, I have to have Ryan fix the star. It looks like someone who had been drinking a lot of Merlot put it up.:confused3

Oooo-purty Shannon!! Your pickle is big! :rolleyes1 And may I say your house is disgustingly clean. Can I send you some fur and dog drool? :teeth:

I'll have to post some pics of my tree if I ever get off my lazy butt and take some.

LOVE the tree, Shanaynay! It looks great! I have my pickle up too! My girls love that thing.

Tomorrow I'm taking Heather into DC and we are going to the National Holocaust museum (finally). She's been studying it in her history class and they get extra credit if they go to the museum. Plus we've been talking about going for a couple years now, but I was worried she wasn't ready for it yet. Then she goes an asks if we can take her boyfriend! I'm like, "Hello! I'll be sniveling! YOU'LL be sniveling! And there is nudity! Do you REALLY think that would be comfortable with Josh there with us?" She concurs, but she ain't happy about it!

Angus, how ya been, lady? I never see you post on FB anymore!

Angie, Angie, Angie... We all know it's not the size of the pickle that counts. It's how crunchy it is! And you cannot by any stretch judge how clean my house is by the freshly vacuumed corner where the tree is! Trust me. 3 men in the house= lots of clutter, pee-pee toilets, and dirt tracked in on carpet. The hair balls are all mine though.

Toots, how was the Holocaust museum? I've always wanted to go, but never had anyone to go with me.

Good Morning Sassies!

Today my baby turns "18". Where has the time gone? Kelsie is off of school today (exempt from exams) so I'm taking her to lunch to celebrate.

Angie your tree is beautiful. I still haven't taken a picture of mine yet.

Bonnie so nice to see you popping in here. How was the museum? That's one that we didn't see on our trip there years ago.

Angie do you have a pickle on your tree? That's something we've just never done before. Maybe I'll go on a pickle hunt and try to find one soon.

So how's the Christmas shopping coming along? I'm not done yet but I only have a few more gifts to buy and I know what I'm looking for so that's half the battle.

Have a great day everyone. :wave2:
