STILL no SW flights past May 10??

We are going May 25 thruogh June 2. Impatiently waiting! Will someone post here as soon as the schedule comes out?

4MC - like to hear that. I won't hold my breath, but I will hope we can get a rate almost as good.

I just started a thread about SW from Columbus. Hope to hear some more positive rates....;)

Judging by the past, I think about a million people will post once the new dates open up! :thumbsup2

We too fly out of Louisville most of the time and the prices are absolutely through the roof. :scared1: Our trip isn't until the end of September and all the fares are at least $300. We've always flown Delta but not this time I'm definitely waiting for Southwest to release their dates. Surely they'll be cheaper than what I've found thus far. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks fares from Louisville are outrageous!!!

I hope SW really does not rope us May flyers all in and then come up with a whammy of a rate! I feel like a sailboat without any wind and all the speed boats are passing by! I am a forever SW traveller and I am reassuring our other guests that they will come through but now I am wondering if they are increasing the demand and therefore increase the price! I pray to the travel Gods that this is not the case but if it is I may rethink my relationship with the orange and blue!

I was just going to post the same thing and you beat me to it.

I can't stand it. We are so limited here in Pittsburgh with our flights to MCO. Us Airways is expensive and Air tran changed their flight times and now they are soooo undoable.

Come on SW, we just want to finalize our trip!

We still fly AT down to MCO either rewards flights or cheap fare (approx $20 lower pp/1 way than SW) & arrival is decent (so far lol).

Switched to SW for last trip in Oct. back to PIT due to ATs crappy connecting flight offerings.

:offtopic: Qs (don't mean to :stir: )

1) Only complaint was how many people were preboarding.. large groups with kids, others who apparently must have had med. issues?; seemed as though the plane was 3/4 full before line A got to board:confused3 . Is this typical or did we just "hit a bad flight".

2) I need July 1st return...anyone want to guess if it will be included in the next round of releases?

3) Is there rhyme or reason/typical m.o. as to SW release dates (as what day of the week do they announce & for what period of travel)?

Air Tran used to have awesome flight times out of Pittsburgh to MCO and back. I can't believe they changed them. I can live with the afternoon flight going down but there is no way I'm taking a 9am return flight.

I have flew SW twice, last September from MCO and in November , LAX to PIT.

We didn't have the experience you did with half the plane boarding. Our DD is 3 , so we got to pre-board though but I remember only about 15-20 people pre-boarding. Actually from LAX-PIT it was worse. I had an A boarding pass, and had to settle for an aisle halfway through the plane.

No rhyme or reason for the release of dates. July 1st should be in the next round, I would venture to say. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Some say the seats are usually released on Thursdays, but I remember when I was waiting for SW flights last year for our WDW trip, they were released on a Friday. So who knows.

roliepolie - thanx...

btw, luv the avatar postscript...how 'bout the new boss man for the steelers...thought Grimm would get it for sure.:confused3

I've been noticing this, too. I think the gate agents really need to start examining who is preboarding. If it is truly necessary for someone to preboard (due to some condition), that's fine. But how can half the plane really need to preboard?

I had called Southwest and spoke with a lady on Monday. She said they normally work on a 6 month schedule, and since it's only up for about 4 months out right now they should release through July. They normally release at the end of the week, Thursday or Friday. She also commented that they don't usually let it get this close to release. She had said that if it didn't happen this week, she would guess next week.....hope that helps someone!

It should definately be by this Thursday since the schedule will be 105 days out by then. I wish we just knew it would be Thursday so I wouldn't have to spend each day waiting for it to happen. My kids have midterms this week and I have to pick my daughter up at 11:30am on Thursday since she has only one midterm that day, uggh. I need July 27th anyways and I'd be surprised if that date is included.

On the SW forum of Flyertalk, the word is Feb 8th for schedule extensions. Apparently this date is floated on the SW website, buried somewhere in the "SW Blog"..... :confused3 Lots of consernation over there on the very late release of future dates.

the later they're released, the better it might work for those of us needing early July dates...

as in a bigger chunk of dates opening up?:confused3

I saw the Feb 8th date on Flyertalk too. I'm going absolutely crazy.
:crazy2:
I just hope it is worth the wait. From Houston the best rate I've found is through Air Tran, but we would have to stop in Georgia. Southwest has always had the be best rates so if everyone is waiting for their fares then they can afford to wait. :crazy2:
