Does anyone have a picture of the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - Served with Macaroni & cheese and red wine sauce?

Just curious as to what this looks like. DH & I are both picky eaters but this sounds right up our alley & I really want to try Jiko since we will be staying at the AKL.

If you are turned off by it being served over the mac and cheese, then you can order the mac and cheese on the side. Over half of our party did this back in October and it was no problem at all.

The steak was fantastic!! (mac and cheese was good too, which surprised me)

I didn't take the picture, but I found one.

I LOVE  the Oak Grilled Filet Mignon at Jiko! I went back for a second time on this past trip to get it again. I'm a picky eater also and couldn't make up my mind on if I should ask them to keep the red wine sauce off or not. I'm glad I left it the way it came because it is so good!

What do you mean by "picky eater"

This steak is so melt in your mouth. The sauce gives it a rich, earthy flavor which is set off by the white Cheese in the mac in cheese.

In Heaven these thee flavors were set aside specifically for this dish.

I don't have any pictures but I had it back in Dec and it was awesome. We plan to go back in June and in September. It was melt in your mouth good. The only different then the picture below is mine didn't come on a white plate. It came in this red container that had a black hot plate that the steak and mac-n-cheese was on with a dome over it. The server took the dome off when it got to the table.

I definately think I will order the mac & cheese on the side. I'm not sure I would like the mac soaking in the red wine sauce. Doesn't it get kind of soggy like?

By "picky eater" I mean that we like very few things. We dislike most seafood & only like a few vegetables.

We went a few weeks ago with another couple, he's a picky eater. Both he and I ordered this (I've had it many times before) and I, as usual, loved it but he didn't care for it very much. He loves steak and he likes mac n cheese but he didn't like the wine reduction sauce at all and he didn't care for the combination of these items together.

JIKO is a wonderful place and I hope you can order your dinners to your liking so that you can enjoy it. I was so disappointed that our guests did not enjoy it the way DH and I do.

I wish I'd known before you went! I bet he would have liked it with the mac n cheese on the side.

No, it doesn't get soggy at all. I don't understand how.

I'm *hoping* we were there on an off night, but we ordered this three weeks ago, and the portion is about half what you see in the pic on this thread. You couldn't even see the mac & cheese under the filet. I would be surprised if there was a quarter cup of mac & cheese. And both DH & I ordered it, and it was itty-bitty for both of us.

And the beautiful flowers and microgreens weren't included with our plate. It was just some romaine lettuce and my guess would be watercress ... a couple sprigs at that.

We've had this meal 20 times, at least, and I've never been disappointed in the portion size ... except a few weeks ago. I should have taken a photo of it, but I didn't.

I will also say this was our first visit since Anette Gray left as head chef. I do hope this is not a sign of things to come for this most amazing dish at WDW.

I was going to post on the serving size also but decided not to because I thought it was just our night. Nope. We had so little mac n cheese under ours that it looked like worms. :rotfl: Since we were there also a few weeks ago, let's hope there was some mac n cheese embargo or something that caused the shortage and the servings will once again look like the photo above.

Anyone else have a current experience with the portion sizes?

DH just made our ADR there but, we can always cancel if this seems to remain a problem.

I'm also wondering if the edible flowers and microgreens are gone for good. We were there last February and had this meal, as well as the prior January (in addition to our warmer weather visits), and it's always had the edible flowers and most unusual microgreens. I do hope they're not gone for good. The combo of the flowers with the microgreens, the wine sauce, the mac & cheese with a little bite of steak is just pure heaven.
