We are driving to WDW later this month. We have reservations at a Disney Hotel. Do we have to pay to park at the theme parks if we choose to drive to them instead of taking the shuttles? I've heard some of the shuttles can take a long time (is this true?) so on the days we want to be somewhere at a certain time I'm considering just driving our own vehicle. However if we have to pay to park, we might as well just use the shuttle. Help?

:welcome: to the DISboards.

And enjoy your free parking at all Parks while a Resort Guest.

if you are staying on site, show your room key at the parking booth for the parks.

Actually... if you are staying onsite, they will give you a Parking Pass to put on your windshield with the dates of your stay.

We usually drive to disney and will drive to the parks. I personally like driving just because you can leave exactly when you want to instead of waiting for a bus. The only place where I would not drive to is the Magic Kingdom because the parking lot to MK is the ticket and transportation center and then either have to take the boat or the monorail to get to MK. With the buses you get dropped off right at the gate. So i recommend to definitely drive to all parks except MK it seriously saves time and you will be asked at check in if you have a car say yes and you will get a parking pass and will just need to show that when you enter the gate to the parks and they will wave you through

The only place I would recommend taking the bus to the park is at MK... it's a zoo to get in, around, and out of there.

Everywhere else, all you have to do is show the gate CMs the park parking pass you will receive at your resort.

Parking at the park is free for resort guests.

We have our car at WDW but we only use it to go to other resorts for dinner.

We have never had a problem using the buses and we have stayed at Spring Break a couple of times. I don't think we have had to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a bus. Where we park at AKL just getting to the car would take 5 minutes or so. I hear some of the other resorts have a longer trek to their cars.

Going to MK would be a pain to drive too. Going from AKL to AK is a very short drive. EPCOT and DHS is not too far.

We like the buses since we don't have to worry about driving. Just get on the bus and go. :thumbsup2

Later,
Dan
