Hi! I am from Florida and will be making my first trip to Disneyland Paris this July. Hurray, I am so excited! I will be staying at the Hotel New York for 5 nights. On two of the days, we're planning to travel into Paris itself and do some sightseeing. I've been reading up on the metro, but I have a few questions.

1. Is the train station within walking distance from the Hotel New York? I assume the front desk of the hotel will have a train schedule?

2. Is the train to downtown Paris direct from Disneyland? Or will I need to change trains at another station?

3. Do the trains run pretty late back to Disneyland? Or will we need to take a early evening train back each night.

Thanks for your help!!

Craig

Hi Craig,

no need to worry ;) This is Europe and in no way comparable to the distances at WDW where it really is necessary to have a car.

1) The train station is right between the park entrances and the hotels / disney village. So it might take you about 20 minutes from Hotel Cheyenne if you prefer to walk or take the shuttle bus.

2) Trains go directly into the heart of paris and there's even a stop right at the arc de triomphe / champs elysees which. I will take you about 35 minutes to the centre and about 45 minutes to the arc de triomphe.

3) Trains go until 0:30 a.m all 10 to 15 minutes.

So you can see absolutely perfect to go to Paris.

Have a great trip!

Chris

Chris, thank you so much for the great info! That sure helps a lot. I'm really excited about going for the first time! I know I'm going to get lost, but at least I'll have fun doing it!

Thanks again!
Craig

Don't worry to much, the system is very easy! The cheapest is to buy a "Mobilis" ticket, that allows you to use the metro in Paris all day. You'll need one for 5 zones (since DLP is 5 zones from the centre). You can buy one ticket for the two days.
I have to tell you that we don't like to take the train back very late. You'll travel along some suburbs and we don't feel very save there, especially when the trains gets more empty as you get out of the centre.

Just to expand a little on what others have said. The train station is about a 5 minute walk from the Hotel New York and is situated on the right as you leave Disney village.

When you arrive at the station you may notice that it is actually 2 train stations in one. There is a TGV/Eurostar station (this is for high speed international trains) and there is the RER station (this is the regional train). You want the RER part of the station! It will be clearly signposted as RER and also "Paris". When you approach the RER you will notice a ticket sales counter. The clerks normally speak a bit of English so should be able to help you. You may also notice ticket machines (they will be labelled as 'Billet') These machines have an English option! They are easy to use.

As already suggested a mobilis (zones 1-5) ticket is the best value for a day trip to Paris. It costs about 12€ and will give unlimited travel in Paris on the underground system (METRO) the regional trains (RER) and also the buses (though not the tour buses). Make sure you buy a 1-5 zone ticket as there are different zone numbers. If you buy the 1-3 it wont work for you! Make sure you keep your ticket safe, you need to use it to exit the station when you reach your destination!

The Disneyland Station is known as Marne La Valle Chessy and is on RER line A.

From the station, ALL TRAINS GO TO CENTRAL PARIS, so it's impossible to get the wrong one! On the way back it's a little trickier! When you're on a platform for RER line A, you will notice (at most stations) that there will be a large board above the platform with lots of place names on it. One of the final ones will say Marne La Vallee Chessy. Make sure the light next to it is illuminated before you get on the train. If it's not the train isn't going to Disney. This is important to remember as RER line A forks off in 2 directions, if you get the wrong one you could get very lost!

If you're planning on visiting Paris, the best stop to get off at is "Charles De Gaulle Etoille" this stop is will bring you out next to the Arc de' Triumphe at the top of the famous Champs Eleysse. There is an English journey planner here

Hope all this helps
