We are going to WDW for Jersey week, and we're staying at AKV in a 1 BD. :goodvibes. Anyway, the kids seem interested in going to the Nick hotel and I was thinking that instead of actually packing up and moving for the night, I'd just book the cheapest room possible and we could spend the day there and come back at bedtime.

Has anyone ever done this? Thoughts ? I can get a room if I book it early enough for just around $110 - figure that is less than the cost of a day at the parks.

First, I don't know when Jersey week is. Keep checking the nick hotel for deals. We were checking and going to book 2 nights about 3 months before our trip (in Dec, so slow time) and rooms with no refund were $79 for the base room. About a month later they had a 1 day special for $79 a night!!! We were staying so the fact that this deal was a kidsuite instead of a base room and refundable was GREAT :cool1: But my point is keep checking the site, they have daily deals off and on you may catch.

Next, the Nick hotel was fantastic! I'm sure compared to your Disney hotel it won't matter, it was so much better than the Disney values where we stay... if we return we'll stay the entire trip at Nick. I think what you are planning would be great. The Nick pools are great, so much fun for the kids. We didn't experience any of the other thing since DS6 got terribly ill after half a day at the pools  (nothing to do with the hotel!!!) but there are many other things that sounded like a lot of fun... like the evening parties. I think it's well worth the price, even $110, for the family to experience. Go for it! :thumbsup2

It's really not a bad idea.

If you can get a $79 room, it is cheaper than a day at a disney water park.

How old are your kids? Is it going to be enough activity to keep them busy all day?

wtrmlnlabs - thanks for the info - I can't believe you got a $79 rate! I have looked into staying at Nick before and noticed that the further out you can book, the cheaper the price.

My kids will be 9 and 5 at the time of travel, so I think old enough to enjoy the hotel like they would a water park. I just really don't want to go through the hassle of packing/unpacking for 1 day and I want to get there before the boys get older and have no interest.

My kids are 9 & 5 now and we have been there twice. Both times it was nice to have the second bedroom, but I sure wish we could've gotten a one bedroom with the sofa sleeper just for that full kitchen!

It really is a fun place and the kids will have a blast!!!!! I will search my pics and post one of the slime bucket spilling out!

Enjoy!

Don't forget the 25.00 resort fee plus taxes they add per night. You might want to figure the "break even" point and just buy tickets to a water park.

Maybe pack just a small overnight bag with jammies and stay overnight as a "mini vacation" during your vacation. That place look like loads of fun!!!

The hotel was doing day passes at one time. You might call and check to see if they do that. We booked rooms on travelocity for $79/night and they included the resort charge.
