We have stayed at the AKL and the Dolphin before due to GREAT rates at both (after 9/11 for the AKL and a Teacher discount for the Dolphin). Planning a mid-October trip to WDW (and Universal) and are considering a moderate resort. Would appreciate ANY and ALL advice on any of the moderate resorts. Or in the other words, the good, the bad and the ugly!!!!!
Any suggestions on the best resort (we have 2 daughters of 11 and 7), the best buildings, hints, suggestions, etc.

Also, any input on a mid-October trip and if we do 2 days at Universal, would you do those first, last or in the middle?

THANKS, in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at the POR a few years ago. Nice resort, our room was in the Parterre Place building. Not too bad a walk to the lobby, close to a quiet pool. Taking the boat to DTD was always a treat. Could also take it to POFQ or just walk there. It was nice to be able to use the pool at both resorts. The one big pain for me was the transportation. The buses almost always stopped at POFQ first, so often times it was standing room only, or no room at all for some people. This is the one thing that would make me not want to go back there.

I suggest CSR. Your DD's will love the Dig Site. Check out pic on my website below.

My family love CBR, we have stayed there in June 2002, in the Trinidad South location, then in 2004 we stayed at CBR again and stayed in the Martinque building 26, which is where i would request to stay, it is the preferred room location, it is the closest to the food court and main pool. We are going back this June for 8 nights, but made our reservation to late to get the preferred rooms. You may hear a lot of negative things about this resort, but we love it and will continue to go to this resort until we can afford a deluxe resort. I love the tropical feel to this resort, and have never had a bad experience. I would suggest a preferred location, Trinidad South is the furthest from the food court and main pool. Each island has its own quite pool too. Hope you have a magical stay wherever you choose. :teeth:

We stayed at POFQ last June. My kids loved the pool! I don't think it really matters about what building since its small compared to the other Mod resorts. The food court was pretty good and the atmospere was alot of fun. My kids also enjoyed the game room. We never waited long for the buses. We would consider staying here again, we have stayed in POR & really didn't like it near as well. Complex was TOO BIG, after walking all day at the parks I would rather not walk alot at the resort!

with children your dd's ages, i would suggest POR AB section because of the trundle bed... it will give you a little more flexibility when it comes to sleeping arrangements... it's the only mod i would consider (and did, but ended up deciding to take two rooms at pop century) :flower:

I would not hesitate to stay there again! I prefer exterior corridors to interior corridors,so this resort was perfect for me. I stayed at AKL an Dolphin last year. I loved both. Of all the places we have stayed Dolphin is my least favorite. Those loooonnnnggggg narrow hallways make me dizzy!!!! Although,I have to say,I loved being so close to everything ! I think there's probably not a bad place anywhere at Disney!!!
