Stay Play Dine 2018 Calculation Thread

BREAKING NEWS

We have determined that the savings on the Stay Play Dine deal for 2018 at the VALUE resort level is 40% off the quick service dining plan. This discount remains the same from last year. HOWEVER since the dining plan, tickets, and room costs have all gone up the net cost to a family is significantly higher for the same length vacation.

There is no savings on the room or ticket portion. If you choose to upgrade the dining plan there is no additional discount on the cost to upgrade.

Ha! Posts crossed; yes, I think you're right about the 40% for value.
And I'm seeing at Yacht Club - 45% off dining PLUS $1.75 off per night (I know they've done this weird $1.75 per night thing before...so strange...)
My guess is that the managers of the deluxe resorts have the ability to put an additional room savings in place if they want to? That may be way off base but it's the only thing I can figure...

BREAKING NEWS

I believe we have determined that the savings on the Stay Play Dine deal for 2018 at the MODERATE resort level is 45% off the Disney dining plan. I haven't yet had a chance to confer with Don @ Mousesavers but I've run numerous scenarios all resulting in this same result. This discount remains the same from last year. HOWEVER since the dining plan, tickets, and room costs have all gone up the net cost to a family is significantly higher for the same length vacation.

I doubt it's the managers. Some revenue manager at Disney is just putting a bigger discount on certain rooms where they have a lot of inventory and/or they've been having trouble filling, that's my guess. Disney rate setting is highly centralized; I don't think a hotel manager would get any input.

Yeah that makes sense too! Are you in agreement with the 45% dining at Moderates?

I'm also getting 45% off regular dining plan for moderates, and I have not yet seen a room discount for any moderate.

thanks! I'm getting a lot of 45% at Deluxes, and the occasional small additional savings.

Keep in mind it may vary by room type, and maybe by date. I got $0 off standard view rooms at AK, but a whopping $54 off savanna view (plus the dining discount).
Yeah - I don't think we're going to pinpoint every option in deluxe. The 45% definitely holds in my examples and the Room Savings can vary wildly. I'd say...we've cracked it again!! Thanks for running scenarios too so we can double check each other!

Likewise! It's great to get confirmation that the calculations are reasonable. :)

You two are machines! Are you doing estimates for each level on DDP or just Quick Service? It looks like I am only getting 35% on DDP at Value. But my math isn't great.

The savings at a value resort is 40% off the cost of the quick service dining plan. You are paying the full difference between QS and DDP which is what "erodes" your savings but the formula holds - it's still 40% off QS.

Well that stinks! But thanks for clarifying.
