Well it is sort of a zoo but if you get there first thing in the morning you can get alot done before it gets really bad in the afternoon.Yes this is scheduled ever year at MGM... 3 weekends in May and 2 weekends in June. The early ones I think will be less crowded as many schools don't let out until after Memorial Day.

In the past we have been there before the gates to MGM open. When 9a.m. came the plaza swelled with the music we all know and love...dadada...dada da...Star Wars!!! <img src=http://www.tnfj.com/Images/Smilies/vader1.gif> Up on the roofs of the ticket booths appeared Storm Troopers and Boba Fett!! My boys,Erich and Jonathan, and even my big boy, Joe, were flipping out!! It was pretty cool! :)

If your DS is a real Star Wars fan I HIGHLY recommend this event!

May the force be with you!:teeth:

We just happened to be there last year - mainly we saw a parade. Other than that, I think you have to stand in some pretty long lines to see/meet the stars, etc.
The parade was good - not great.
Others may have a different take on it - we were there on a whim and I did not see that much Star Wars stuff going on other than the parade.

Disney mouse We went almost 4 years ago and we had a great time my son was 5 and loved it the lines were a little long to get auto graphs but he didn't seem to mind too much because there was just so much excitement in the air. Like someone else said it was totally cool to see all the stormtroopers and Darth Vader walking around the roof and here the music blasting o.k o.k maybe I was even more excited than he was and I was 38 at the time. We are going again this May and I am getting excited all over again so is my son David now 9yr. We also did the character breakfast at the Poly and all enjoyed that very much a got a ton of autographs there and it ws nice because they all come to you!
Hope you have fun if your big fans definetly do it. I'm now 41 and still looking forward to checking it out again!

thanks for all your input! ALEXANDRA, did you mean that the characters at poly breakfast were from starwars??? if so then we will have to go to that for sure.:bounce:

I'll admit to being as excited as my daughter (10). Baloo's post about the 'music swelling', 'storm troopers appearing' really gets to me! Almost get chills! LOL

Wish Disney would announce the dates but have changed my travel dates to Friday 5/14 - Friday 5/21. Hopefully we'll experience two weekends in parts.

May the farce, er force be with us!

Sharon

Sorry for the confusion disneymouse no the character breakfast was not star wars but disney characters.

hightown the star wars music swelling gave me chills and still does after almost 4 years and this is why I am returning this year.

We were there during one of the Star Wars weekends last year. We really enjoyed the Star Wars edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Half the shows that weekend were Star Wars editions, and half were the regular game.

It started with a cute skit involving a couple of Jawas in the audience, and then an interview with Peter Mayhew. The abbreviated game which followed featured special Star Wars Edition prizes. Peter Mayhew, btw, gives an excellent interview.

We didn't realize that we were going to a Star Wars edition of the game, but we enjoyed it very much.

I went last year for the first weekend and I wouldn't say that it was super busy, but if you are making the trip solely for the weekend or concentrating on all things star wars, you can get everything done in a day and a half (Friday and Saturday). If you are staying at a Disney resort, save all your shopping at Tatooine Traders until Saturday during early entry. We seriously waited in line for an hour to check out on Friday adn that was completely avoiding the pin line. The autograph sessions filled quickly, but if you are not interested in getting those, you can just go over and get signed up for the trivia events.

The WWTBAM is awesome with the Star Wars trivia. I went to several sessions, but I did see a 17 y/o boy rock through the questions using one lifeline on a stupid question that had nothing to do with Star Wars to win the cruise. They give out the normal prizes plus the extra stuff. It is totally cool and the questions are answerable if you have seen the movies a couple of times.
