Starting TODAY 11/15 you can Cancel Most Dining Reservations up to TWO HOURS in Advance WITHOUT a Cancellation Fee

So the cancel button is there, but will they still charge a $10 per person fee if it's not cancelled at least a day in advance? Need someone to cancel today and confirm, LOL.

Disney World Officially Updates Dining Cancelation & No-Show Policy

Here’s the updated wording on the Disney World website:

There is a 2 hour cancellation policy. You must cancel at least 2 hours prior to the dining reservation time to avoid a $10 per person cancellation fee. If you fail to cancel at least 2 hours prior, or if you no-show, the credit card provided at the time of reservation will be charged $10 per person.

Your credit card will automatically be charged if you no-show or if you fail to cancel at least 2 hours prior to the dining reservation time.

The wording makes it seem this new policy doesn't apply to everything. What's excluded??

Starting today, November 15th, you will be able to cancel most dining reservations up to two hours in advance of them happening without any cancellation fee (note that this will apply to most reservations).

Presumably special dining like VIctoria and Albert’s.

Be Our Guest or SciFi will have little problem filling last-minute cancellations with those already in the park.

But some dining really needs to be planned in advance.

Question. I haven’t been to Disney in like 5 years and the last time we went the rule was that if at least some of your party shows up they won’t charge the fee right? Is it still like that? For example, I have a reservation for 7 people but my sister has little kids so she may end up not being able to make it depending how the day goes. My family will go regardless but say we show with 4 instead of the 7, they won’t change me for the 3 that don’t show right?

That’s correct, as long as one person checks in for the reservation, you won’t be charged.

Folks will hoard no doubt but they already did anyway. I see this as maybe increasing the chances of someone like me, who doesn't like planning where I will eat 60 days in advance, of getting a last minute table. I checked what was available day of this afternoon and saw a ton of places including California Grill and Topolino's ..........

Yes, I think this means there will be more same-day reservations available.

I wonder if Genie+/ILL is the reason for this. ADR needed to be canceled the day before, but what happened if you got a paid-for ride return time smack-dab in the middle of your ADR time? You couldn't cancel your ADR without a fee, but if you take the time to look for a new Genie+/ILL time, would there be any left? I'm sure you could get a CM somewhere to juggle this all for you, but maybe this is Disney's "easy" way around the situation; just let you cancel the ADR without penalty, without taking up some CM's time (and your park time) to do so.

Its good and its bad....gives the person who has to cancel time but also throws out the 24hr rule that I used a lot to snag day before reservations

I made my ADRs for January the day before Disney announced this new 2-hour cancellation for *most* restaurants, so most of my confirmations say cancel the day before. Which restaurants are not included in the new 2-hour cancellation policy? The Fantasmic package I booked in December does say the 2-hour cancellation rule.
