Well its a new year and i am bound to lose weight this year. My name is Sarah. I had my daughter 2 years ago, and when i left the hospital after i had her i was able to fit into my pre pregnancy clothes.:scared1: Now 2 years later, I have gained 50lbs in those 2 years. so today i went to our local anytime fitness center, took a tour, and signed myself and my husband up. My hubby is a truck driver so he wont be my work out buddy very often. I'm sure it would help if i had a work out buddy, but for now it'll just be myself. I currently weight 180 pounds, and want to lose 50lbs to get back to my 130lbs. I am 25 years old, and 5'5" tall. Not sure what happened after I had my DD 2 years ago, i just slowly began to gain weight. I have tried lots of diet pills- relacore, lipozene, and right now i have been taking stacker 3, just for the energy. Hopefully exercising will help out with that. So tomorrow morning at 10 i go to my local anytime fitness and have an appointment with a personal trainer (they provide 3 free appointments with a personal trainer)

My motivation for it all? To look good again, gain back my self esteem and confidence, and also my career goal of being a police officer. I have one and a half years left of my schooling, and then 7 weeks of police academy after that, so its time to get back into shape so i can pass the physical testing of any police applications i fill out.

Any advice? How often should I weigh myself in? I dont want to get obsessed with doing it on a daily basis. I plan on working out 3-4 times a week, along with going to school, and taking care of my 3 children.

Welcome to WISH!

You are beginning this in a positive way. My suggestion is to keep it positive. Pick small goals to help you succeed along the way. Make it as much fun with your exercising that you can. It is not always so, on those times, just do it!

Make healthy eating choices for yourself and don't consider the negative "D" word.

I'm sure you will get great advice from the trainer. I've used one and found it very helpful.

Everyone has different thoughts on what works with weighing. Do what you feel is best, but I would definitely not advise more than once a week, I like to pick mid to later in the week. Whatever works for you.

Know that you can do this! You will!

Good Morning!!

I am new to WISH as well. I started exercising the last week of December and was doing great. We had a death in the family this last week and I have fallen off the wagon. Your e-mail was a pick me up to start again. We are so similar - I never could fit back in my clothes but after 3 children, I have 50 pounds to lose as well. I am 5'4 and weigh 190 lbs. I am shooting for 140 but that would still be 15 lbs lighter than when I got married. I am very large busted and I have to consider that into my heavier weight.

I wish you the very best of luck. Keep me informed - you got me ready to get started again.

Have you had your thyroid tested???

You could have a problem with that, just reading your post. My situation was the same thing 8 years ago, and something close to "stacker" did it!

Just a thought, but those pills are never any good and they are dangerous too.

I did have my thyroid tested. My dad had to have his removed years ago. I had all the symptoms and they kept telling me that was not the problem. I finally asked for it to be tested again after my third child when I could hardly get out of bed in the morning and was ready for a nap by 10:00 AM. Yup, They checked it twice because they thought something went wrong in the first test. It was barely working. I am on synthroid now and have the energy back - just have to jump-fire the metabolism to start losing the weight. I have felt stronger everyday this week.

I have not weighed in at all this month. I don't want to be let down. I am going to try to go by how clothes fit and how I feel. Plus I know that muscle weighs more than fat and it will need to be built back up.

Does your DR. know that you are taking those pills??

Also ask your DR if he uses cytomel? that helped me and it works with Synthroid. Also if you are not taking the name brand, try switching that may make a huge differance :)

No i havent been taking the stacker lately. Been to busy to even pop one into my mouth lol. I only took them because they gave me energy. but now that i have been working out i have alot more energy! Havent lost any weight, but still trying. I am starting my slimfast tomorrow, one in the morning and one for lunch with some healthy snacks of fruits and veggies in between. I am only working out 3 times a week mon, wed, and fri, i work out for about an hour, doing about half hour of cardio, and then some on the weight machines to tone up also. it gets so frustrating!
