Starbucks

Now I found the SB in DCA was sooooo slow. The coffee tasted burned and they were in a state of chaos. Now it could be because they had recently opened. I hope it is better. Blue Ribbon Bakery is darn good for pastries and their coffee isn't bad.

Thank goodness for Starbucks at DL. We were gobsmacked that DL cafes served the horrid nescafe stuff.

When you drink coffee amerciano, no sugar you can't hide the taste.

Thank goodness for the espresso cafe in the GCH!!! It kept me alive. :lmao:

Too excited...
But wish the wait wasn't so long!!!!

Did I hear that they stopped serving comp coffee in the DLH's for hotel guests. That sure was a nice little "perk"--- ya, I went there!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

LOL yeah I remember that. People were assuming they could be up to $7+. It was great to know Disney and Starbucks didnt fleece their customers with already overpriced coffee. I think the biggest difference is 75 cents for the most expensive stuff and if you have an AP like I do its actually cheaper than the regular stores so its actually a bargain.

And I think having a SB on BVS was a great move for the park. Its nice to have good coffee and I love just sitting in one of the outdoor tables at the cafe and watch life go by. DCA has really improved and SB is a part of that.

When SB makes it to DL this year, thats going to be great as well and nice to have two locations for it.

We found the StarBucks in DCA to have great Americana's and Lattes. Each of the drinks were also a dollar less at DCA, than here on the south side of Seattle. The table and chairs were comfortable and nice as well. We visit Starbucks at least once a day every visit. :yay::cool1:

It's kinda oddly spotty. That image says $2.69 for a tall brewed coffee, and I pay $1.65 in San Mateo. Even with an AP discount, that's a 40% increase, and I remember refusing to pay that much for a cup of coffee, then regretting the lack of caffeine. It was not my most sensible hour at DL. In my defense, I hadn't had enough coffee that day!

Isn't $2.69 the same price as all other Disney locations for brewed coffee? You can't really expect the Starbucks to charge less then other locations right?

Without googling, I have no idea what other Disneyland locations charge for brewed coffee. I never actually purchased coffee at Disneyland. I was just commenting on what I understood to be the topic of the thread - prices at the DL starbucks vs regular starbucks.

I do suspect that it has to do with minimum/consistent pricing and dollars/sqft, and I nearly said so in that post - but it seemed off topic. Clearly, the market will bear what they charge, and I don't begrudge them the profits, but that day it was just one expensive drink too many for me.

I figure that if the worst penny-wise and pound-foolish mistake I made at DL was to skip an extra cup of coffee, then spend the afternoon feeling vaguely tired.... I didn't do too badly.

How is discussing why prices are what they are are off topic in a thread about coffee? It seems right on track to me. it is actually one of the most informative posts in the thread, as it actually answers the question, "why is it more in DL than in other Starbucks?" which is what many folks really seem to want to know.

Right. I assume also that's why the DCA Starbucks' kids' hot chocolate is only 10 cents less than the regular. If they sold the kids' one at the regular discounted Starbucks price, the orders for that would be completely disproportional since it would be such a huge savings over hot chocolate throughout the rest of the resort. I thought it was funny that they even bothered to keep a kids' hot chocolate on the menu there for such a meager price difference.

Because IMO "why is it more in DL than in other Starbucks?" boils down to is "they charge what the market will bear," just like pretty much every other pricing decision Disney makes. That's a gross simplification of their forecasting and data mining, but that's the general goal.

We could talk all day long about sales per square foot, minimum pricing, upsell pricing, pricing consistency, dwell time, the psychology of pricing, etc - but that's the kind of thing that leads to statistical models and research papers. I find it more useful to know that there's an accordion affect on prices as compared to external starbucks. That is, the least expensive and most expensive options have the largest price disparities and the midrange items have the least. Larger drinks have less of a disparity than smaller ones.

It's not really "Starbucks", it's "Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe", a partnership between Starbucks and Disney. Disney is going to take their cut.

I noticed that, too. One of the few times the kid's size doesn't look like a deal!

So I still don't understand how talking about it is off topic.

That's a judgement call that everyone makes for themselves. :confused3 It's not like I said anyone else couldn't talk about it - just that I saw it as topic divergence.

Ok everyone... Let's just all get along!:love:

Question.,

I am a gold card member, I have been saving up my drinks and will use them in the park, my question is... one of the perks of course of gold card is free refills on drip coffee and tea, do they honor that there in the park?

Thank you!!!!

They do not accept the free drinks in the park locations. They also do not offer free refills.

You can use your card and earn stars but everything else is a no go.
