Starbucks

DH was wondering. If you use a Gold Card as payment, do you earn stars toward a free drink?

Yep you do earn stars!

At different points in my life, I have had a daily Starbucks addiction. I've never had a drink remade. What in the world is wrong with the drinks? (Or maybe you're just a lot pickier than me. ;) Oh lord, you're not one of those, "180 degrees fahrenheit" people, are you?)

There have been times where I've ordered a green tea lemonade and they didn't put any lemonade; or an iced coffee with Carmel syrup and they didn't add it. That kinda thing. I can handle a drink not being the right temp.

Maybe it's just because I'm in the "Land of Starbucks," but I wanna say I paid $2.15 (including a crazy 9.5% sales tax) for a tall Tazo tea earlier this week, but it's $2.69 on that menu. I think that's a pretty huge increase.

Isn't it more cost effective to go to Target and get a box of 20 tea bags for maybe $3.50? Of course the difficulty is in getting the hot water.

The local commuter train line I take actually sells hot water for a quarter a small cup but coffee for $1.75 for a medium cup. Obviously they do this knowing people are going to use it with tea or instant coffee. Not sure how Starbucks reacts to people asking for hot water.

I found myself in a fancy hotel which didn't have in-room coffee. I went to the lobby where it was $3.75 for a large cup of coffee. Then Starbucks didn't seem so pricey. I bought it and drank it, but found it a little bit bland.

I want a vent drip, a vent soy latte and a gran mocha with a extra shot

oh i thought this is the line to place your order:rotfl2::rotfl2::cool1:. We get starbucks everyday, yep its pricey but so worth it. I am so glad to hear the DL finaly bringing in Bucks. Is there just one stand?

Yes Only the one in DCA. Disneyland proper will have one by the end of the year though.

Yup, and it's also more cost effective to buy a dozen eggs and a loaf of bread rather than pay $20 for a breakfast buffet. ;)

Really, I do bring my own tea to Disney (DVC) and I make my own tea at home. I only get the Starbucks version when I'm meeting a friend for "coffee," because I don't drink coffee!

I did a search, and apparently a lot of places in DL will give complimentary hot water.

Hot water is free. Yes, you can get water all over the park from water fountains, but my family and I have found that the water all over the resort tastes terrible. We normally use a Brita pitcher at home, but always bring a case of bottled water to our hotel and use those in the park.

Cups of ice water or hot water are free in the parks. So this means you can bring hot chocolate packets for the cold nights to mix in the hot water and lemonade powder packs to mix with water during the hot days. When we want to save money on dinner, we bring in cup o noodles to eat using their free hot water.
Another tip is that they allow you to bring in snacks and food as long as there is no glass. We like to bring our packed lunches onto Tom Sawyer island to have a picnic on the benches there.

Be aware that if the cast member sees a kid with you, they won't give you hot water. We used to do it for bottles for our infant and they stopped cause someone got burned. I was asked a few times when I got some by myself but I just told them it was for tea.

You can always get cold water for free everywhere.

AP holders do get a discount!!! I have actually walked out paying less than at my regular Starbucks! :thumbsup2

That is great - they are cheaper than the prices here in Canada, so with the dollar around par and the discount for AP, my latte will be cheaper in a Disney cup!! :cool1:

But they'll still sell coffee to someone with kids. Makes sense. Not really.

The supposed $10 frappuccinos never materialized.

LOL yeah I remember that. People were assuming they could be up to $7+. It was great to know Disney and Starbucks didnt fleece their customers with already overpriced coffee. I think the biggest difference is 75 cents for the most expensive stuff and if you have an AP like I do its actually cheaper than the regular stores so its actually a bargain.

And I think having a SB on BVS was a great move for the park. Its nice to have good coffee and I love just sitting in one of the outdoor tables at the cafe and watch life go by. DCA has really improved and SB is a part of that.

When SB makes it to DL this year, thats going to be great as well and nice to have two locations for it.

It's not just Starbucks that will remake your drinks. I got an iced mocha from the jolly Holliday last week and it tasted like fermented cough syrup. I asked for a regular coffee to replace it and they offered to remake. I declined and they gave me the coffee and refunded my money. I wouldn't expect that all the time but cm's usually try to make you happy if you are nice and calm.

Yeah but people don't typically give their kids hot coffee. The PP sounded like they stopped because it was being used for bottles and a baby was burned with hot water.

All of our strollers with cup holders carry a warning message that they're not for use with hot beverages. I have used a stroller cup holder for beer though (I'm not kidding).

It sounded more like they simply didn't give hot water to people with children for fear that it might be spilled on them.

Honestly, the cup holder thing didn't occur to me. Do the DL strollers have them? I still think it may be the formula thing. Most strollers have some sort of barrier that could deflect liquids from where the child actually sits. Given, some of these may not do that great of a job. But it's a theory...

I love getting a tall vanilla steamer on a chilly morning. Can I do that in DCA?
