I just received the latest all ears newsletter and it indicated that the Star Wars weekends at MGM have been extended to include The weekends of June 17-19 and June 24-26, what does this mean will be going on there? The newsletter says there are no special guests those 2 weekends. Are there special activities going on? Where are they happening? I already know that MGM closes early on the 25th. Just wondering what it means for attendance. I hadn't really thought anything about it because thought it wouldn't be going on then. We're only in WDW for that weekend and am trying to make the most of our time there.

Not sure what special things are planned...we just got back today from WDW. We spent Friday and Sunday at MGM for parts of each day as DH and DS are SW fans...not huge, but fans. What I think you might expect are SW characters...we saw Annakin, stormtroopers, Imperial guards, various Jedi, Darth Sith, and this short, fat, slobbery guy that carried a club (I have no clue what his name was even though DH told me), and a few others. These were at various locations throughout the park where you could get an autograph and a photo...stormtroopers may not do autographs, only photos. If you wanted to meet Darth Vadar or Darth Mickey they were inside attractions at specific times...Darth Mickey was in Sounds Dangeous. They did have events for kids, Jedi Training, and for all...special WWTBAM SW sessions, and some merchandise remained...no Darth Mickeys though, have to get those online at disneygallery.com. Getting into the Tatooine gift shop was standing room only...we waited about 10 - 15 minutes to get inside. They did have a special SW parade at 11:15am...missed it though. Best advice is if you go to MGM, find out where the SW information tables are at...one was located across from Sounds Dangerous...and get a schedule of events for the weekend.

This is FANTASTIC news. We were going to have to get up very early Sunday morning in order to make it to WDW in time to enjoy the last day of Star Wars Weekends. With the extension, my wife and MIL will be able to experience the whole event from opening to closing on the following weekend. Yippee.

HI larua! Glad to see you made it home safely! I was the one who tapped you on the shoulder at the Lights MOtor Actrion show!

SW weekends were a blast for my kids! Even I really enjoyed it. WE do not consider ourselves to be huge fans, but enjoy the movies. It was really neat seeing all the various SW characters out, and I do not know whot the CM was playing Anakin, but OHMy he needs to be Hayden Christianson's double! He was very pleasant on the eyes! hubba hubba! LOL The jedi training was so cute!!!

Amanda...hey there yourself! :wave2: It sure was nice to meet a fellow DISser while standing in line for the Lights Motor Action show...praying that it didn't start raining again. Not sure about you guys, but right after we were seated it started to pour again. We thought the show was great!

We missed the Jedi Training...DS is 13 now so it wasn't a big deal for him...he just really wanted the SWW shirt that glowed in the dark something awful...that's the only reason we waited in the rain to get inside the Tatooine shop...luckily we found one in his size. :bounce: We went back on Sunday since we had PS/ADR at a couple places in MGM and the weather was better, but the crowds were a bit larger.

Glad to have met you and your gang and to see that you had a safe trip home as well!
:wave2:
