I feel this is more a cost cutting move. It wasn’t generating enough interest to justify the high cost. Same with Book of Boba Fett.
On another topic, I wish they’d announced something for SW animation . Not sure what or if there’s much planned .
It was really disappointing that they didn’t announce anything new at D23….at the Lucasfilm Animation panel. I really wonder if Andor S2 and Skeleton Crew are it for Disney+ shows going forward. On another topic, I wish they’d announced something for SW animation . Not sure what or if there’s much planned .
They should stick with the animation on D+ honestly. Even the hits liek Mando - it should probably end with the movie. It can't go on forever, nor should it.
Can’t believe I am saying this, but I completely agree with you Brian.
Star Wars will never be significant again in pop culture if you constantly make mediocre live action series on Disney+.
SW is not significant at all in pop culture right now, and no amount of hang ringing on your part will make it so. Part of the reason is it has been mediocre as of late. The last thing that really pegged the scale for super fans and normies alike was the Mando season 2 finale. I agree that everything can’t be that, but it can be a heck of a lot better than the Acolyte!
This was yet another bad decision by Lucasfilm leadership imho.
While the Acolyte ultimately didn't work for me, I like what Lucasfilm was trying to do with telling an original story and taking some risks. Risks don't always pay off and the current structure at Disney is making risk taking less and less of a feasible option. I think Skeleton Crew is the last original story we're getting for a while and that's a shame.
I'm so tired of everything be a derivative of the OT. Everything doesn't have to have member berries to be good content. It's my larger issue with Disney and their need to only do sequels and prequels now because they are so risk averse. At some point, you need new content to become the next beloved content that propels the franchise into the future. The problem is Disney wants hits and if shows don't immediately pay off, they get axed. And for all the love Filoni gets, not everything he does is perfect (Ahsoka, season 3 of Mando).
