Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** January 15-18, 2015

Got the list updated again. And I'm getting restless with my non running. I get this next set of stitches out of my mouth on Wednesday so I'm going to try and push myself to get out there even if it's just a short baby run. Hopefully I'm almost done with the worst of all my dental stuff and then I can really get back on track. I'm doubting I'll have all that great a time for the Disneyland Half next month, but as long as I finish, that's what I care about.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

My last non running weekend. Honestly it's for the best. I still get tired very easily. But I am anxious to get out there. In the mean times laundry and chores call my name!
Less than 60 days until my chances to provide better proof of time, what a mail biter!

Hi, I am registered for the Rebel Challenge and the 5k. My friend, Linda, is registered for the 10k! Thank you for adding us to the list!

Ouch!!!! I just had my gallbladder removed. It looked like junk I hear so that's oddly reassuring. I've been trying to run and completed my first 10k about 3 weeks ago but not gonna lie it's been rough! Hoping lots of things get easier now that it's out.

Set backs are a challenge. I start my training in September after I finish 6 1/2 weeks of radiation. The dr says I should be ok by mid September. It's great to have a goal! Got my running skirt with the rebel alliance symbol today. So fun!

I'm signed up for the Rebel Challenge too.

Just booked my Hotel, the Fairfield Inn.

I've never been TO Disneyland. I've been to several conferences at Marriott that is down the street. I've eaten at Downtown Disney, but never BEEN to either park.

Any tips from people about the Fairfield INN and using it as a place to stay for run specifically. I've been running @WDW since the first ToT run (2012) so I know how things work at WDW.

My PLAN is to run the Rebel Challenge and then the Glass Slipper (which I'm reg'd for already via DVC) and get my Coast 2 Coast Bling.

Hang in there. My gallbladder was removed 2 months ago, and next month I'm going to lose part of my left kidney. But I'll be there 5am in January to start the 10k then the next day to do the 1/2.

Praying your treatments are curative and that you have no side effects. I know when we line up in January I'll be thinking of your journey!

Good luck next month! I am in awe of people who fight so hard to be a part of these events. Praying for an easy recovery for you!

Thank you.

But this is about the bling ;)

I figure if Lance can get the maillot jaune, I can atleast get my coast2coast. But I'll be there with my yellow LiveStrong bracelet

I haven't stayed at Fairfield Inn but I have stayed at Hojo's which is one property further away. To get to the race and expo you'll walk down Harbor to the crosswalk that takes you to the DL entrance and esplanade. You'll walk through the esplanade and Downtown Disney to get to the expo at Disneyland Hotel. And most likely the race start will be right around there somewhere too. On your way to the race in the morning you'll be able to walk through the esplande without having to go through security. But it will most likely be open by the time you are walking back. There will be lots of other people out there walking with you to the race start so you wont be alone. I did this for Tink in 2013 and I felt very safe.

And to everyone that is injured/sick/recovering I hope you're all back on your running feet soon!

Great it sounds like it really is "Walking distance" from things. Which is what I wanted. Didn't want to trek 2 miles to the start line.

For people who have done RunDisney events @wdw do things basically work the same? Different location I understand but the same overall procedures, head to the main area, with a dance party, hit the port-a-potty, and then head to a holding corral then when they are ready for us we head down to the start line?

While I haven't actually run at both parks yet, from what DF tells me, the only difference will be scale. Everything is closer at DLR. The main area is closer to the corrals, the corrals are closer to the start line. The whole thing is in the parking lot outside PP, so no need to drive, bus, or taxi to the start if you're staying close to the park.

The hike from Epcot parking lot to the road where you start is long. Laugh that sounds great that its closer.

I ran today! Granted it was only 1.5 miles and only 20 minutes long. But I. Ran. Today! Did 30:30 intervals and didn't push too much. Soooo thankful for those miles, and the neighbors with sprinklers that I got misted by. Sorry for being overly enthusiastic. But it's been a long journey to today's miles. I am back!

Wow, I checked in over on the WISH board to see how today's registration for the Princess Half was going. It seems to be plagued by issues. I know we had a few for this one with the 10k not being available right away but that was still better it seems than what is going on right now!

Makes me nervous for Tink registration next month.

Based on reg for the last 3 half marathons at runDisney. I think the best strategy is to book mark the link the day before, sit on your machine and start refreshing every few seconds about 3-5 minutes before. Register for what you want, pay full price, put in the minimum pace (15 minutes/mile.) Once you have your confirmation number.

Go to the RunDisney help/contact us link, and ask for them to fix the DVC/AP/Visa code and send them the time.

But I agree the tink is going to fill up at least as fast as the princess did.

Managed a 5K in the neighborhood only 30 seconds off my PR. Did it with my sister in law I am going to Star Wars with and introduced her to intervals. Getting slightly less terrified of being swept. Whew.
