I decided to surprise my husband by signing him up for the Star Wars Half Marathon and was completely bummed to see it's sold out!!! I know registration is still available through charity groups and travel groups but is there any chance they'll open more spots??

No there isn't any chance. Your only hope to get registered would be through a charity group or a travel agent that may still have spots.

Last I looked about a week ago Jim Stone at Acclaim Travel had bibs for the half. He helped me get two bibs for the half and one of my coworkers is set up for the 10K with him. That's a nice gift! I bet your husband will be thrilled! Mine thinks I am nuts.

Do they have 5k bibs as well?

My son, 5, has decided he wants to do a 5k with me. I know the ones at Epcot are pretty much Walking m&g (not swept) not timed if you don't care etc

So I heard back from the Disney Travel Company last night about my contest prize and I am all booked for Star Wars Weekend at the DL Hotel!! I didn't think I would be able to go into next year b/c of the taxes, but I could go out to next March. Here's hoping the staging area and race start are the same as DL and Tink so I just have to go downstairs. We go down Fri and are there through Mon; I'm debating flying down just b/c really don't want to sit in a car for 6 hours pre race and post Dopey. Plus, I'll get there and the expo/parks earlier.

Question for anyone in the know ~ even though I'll have my AP, as long as I'm at the DL Hotel, I can still get the MM/EE right?

PS ~ not sure if it's sold out already or not, but I'm cancelling a room at BWPPI w/ 2 doubles if people are still looking for hotels.

I'm hoping to stay on site for this one, but it's been a pain waiting for the hotel to officially open up so I can try and book a room with my discounts - my aunt really wants to stay at PPH. So I've got my fingers crossed that I can get us a room pretty soon.

And YES! As long as you are a guest of the hotel, you can get in for the EMH at both Disneyland and DCA, even as an AP holder.

You are going to have so much fun!!! Parkwise and runwise.

For the ChEAR squad, I found, at least w/ the DL races, it's a matter of personal preference. If you want your family to see you while you run inside the parks, they have to buy the package. If you don't mind them not seeing you inside the parks, there are tons of places they can watch you w/o having to buy a package. We don't have the course map yet and it'll be easy to pick out points once we see it. But for both DL and Tink, they can watch you when you cross the promenade from DCA to DL or vice versa, and w/ Tink we run through DTD w/ plenty of spots. There are plenty of places close to the finish line where they can watch you as well on both courses. On the Harbor side of the course outside the parks, again w/ both existing courses, there are places to watch whether we're coming from Katella or Ball. W/ the DL course another place to watch is coming down Disney Dr into the parking lot behind DCA and that is around mile 11.5-12. For the Tink course, we come around on Manchester which is the street you enter for HoJo's across from the corner of DL and that's also 11/5-12.

If it's like the DL course coming down Disney Dr and your family is fast enough and the security line isn't long, your family could make it from seeing you enter the backside of DCA to the finish line in the DL Hotel parking lot.

I held out as long as I could, but if you think about it, it makes sense ~ I was going to use a 1/2 day vacation and go down Fri afternoon, but now that my trip is being used then I'd have to take the full day off anyways. The weekend outside of the registration will be free and the flight down will be on SWA points, so I'm really only paying for the hotel Thur. So why not just go late Thur and do the 5k right? It's crazy Disney math but it works.

I just checked the lady I went through for you, but she just has SW bibs. If I hear anything I'll let you know. I know Jim Stone from Acclaim Travel got some more bibs this week, but I think it's just for Princess and Tink.
