Star JOnes is leaving the view...

I totally agree and watched that show....I didn't feel she was out of bounds, but I never have been a fan of Tom Selleck's either!!

Is Tom actually doing anything these days...? I am not a fan or a follower!

The only reason he would be on in the first place would be to promote something anything from a movie to a book to a tv show to a charity???

If he is laying low and out of the limelight then chances are the View will not be having Tom on anytime soon!

Tom was on Ellen today but i had it turned down and really wasn't paying attention. I thought he looked pretty good, lol. :thumbsup2

Alright, I'm watching her on Larry King and I just want to HURL from all her fake nicey niceness :crazy2:

IMHO, she was very upset and yelling at him and cutting him off quite a bit. She came across horribly in this interview thus the appology.
That's how I remember it.

I'm watching it too. She's saying the highest ratings the View ever had was when she was planning her wedding. I have a hard time beliving that. Who in heck cared?!

I heard this as well on another show. This could be correct. It was probably about the time that people were getting wind of all the freebies Star was demanding for her wedding.

Edited to add: People probably wanted to see if Star would admit to all of this on the show.

Boy, did she ever prepare herself for this interview. She's remaining calm, pasting that fake smile on her face, not getting excited and not slamming Barbara. The problem is......she comes across as very insincere.

Exactly. She's just as cool as she can be for everything she says and my DF (who doesn't know anything about her) is sitting her saying "What's with this woman and that *crap* eating grin she's got?" :lmao:

You know, you're probably right because there was a big to do about her plugging her wedding to do that over the top wedding for a serious discount. People love to see some drama.

I don't think she came across as insincere. She's hurt, who wouldn't be?
I believe she handled herself well tonight.

I agree disneyjunkie. Although, Star and I have different opinions - I really felt sad for her. She is clearly hurt. And, if what she said is all true, I would be very disappointed with ABC too. I always thought the ladies of the View were like family - every family argues and has disagreements - but the way this whole situation played out, is down right sad. I think that loyalty means honesty. I wish Star well and hope that she can move on.

" Our purpose in life is to help others. And if you cannot help them, at least do not hurt them." :grouphug:

I watched the interview. I admire Star for telling the truth and not making up some fake story about "moving on for professional reasons".

Sounds like ABC and Barbara Walters told Star she could go out on her own terms...and then when she chooses to tell the truth to whoever will listen as her own terms they cry foul.

ABC thought she'd make the announcement on Thursday, so she made it on Tuesday...good for her...her own terms.

I think what they're really mad about is her talking to People magazine. I guess they didn't really mean she could go out on her own terms.

I think it's refreshing that someone on network television is actually telling the real story. I'm sure Star is hurting in real life and I'm glad she didn't cry on TV. You go girl.

She didn't seem insincere to me either. I just don't get why BW and ABC is so ticked - they didn't renew her contact (that is fired) and they wanted her gone which is exactly what happened. Why was Thursday the magical announcement day? What harm did she bring on Tuesday by saying the show was going in another direction and that she held her own future. I must be missing something. I'm not even a fan of hers but I just don't get how so many of you think she looks bad.

I personally thought she sounded a bit insincere. She was more soft spoken and deliberate of what she said than I've ever seen her before.
I really couldn't watch the whole thing. I tuned back in at the end and Larry seemed very glad that the interview was over!!

I do feel for her, but I see both sides. I'm getting to the poingt where I'm just sick of the whole thing and who cares.

Anderson Cooper just imitated her with the fake smile. He said it was very starnge how she smiled through the whole interview .

I haven't watched the View in years and tonight was my first time seeing the "new" Star.....I find she looks strange & creepy....like her skin was stretched tight over her face. After 10 minutes, I turned off her soft spoken blah..blah,,,blah... :sad2:

I just saw that.

I believe people wanted to see her break down and cry or ***** about being fired. That way they'd be able to talk about how emotional and out of control she was. Since she didn't do either one, they now feel the need to label her behavior as "strange".

I wonder who will replace her on the show.

My aunt and I were talking last night, she read or saw (can't remember which - this drama's coming from every direction, LOL) that Star is already looking for the next move in TV and apparently said she has a lot of friends, like Oprah, that will help her out.

I can't imagine someone like Oprah touching her right now. Barbara Walters pretty much plucked her from obscurity and gave her a tv career, and tried to make this contract non-renewal as easy as possible for Star, just to be burned. Why would anyone with the power to help her out put themselves on the line after seeing how she just feels entitled to get her way and will turn on those that give her a helping hand?

Together, I think all of the View ladies were sometimes too much.

Star & Joy always seemed to be in a constant battle for loudness. I enjoyed Star's intelligence at times, but all the talk about Al, and the dogs, and her girlfriends trip to where ever, and the wedding of the century, and on and on was overboard.

Joy has too many bad jokes and really needs to stay quiet. Poor Elizabeth never gets a word in edgewise, she probably could significantly contribute to the talk if she just got the chance.

The thought of Rosie joining actually makes me think that this will be the end of the View. Not "as we know it" but the end. Rosie IMHO has become too much in your face with her views and lifestyle. I seriously don't want to hear about it. I can't see her sharing ANYTHING with anyone else, especially the spotlight. I also can't believe that she would go back to daytime talk tv after so publicly leaving a few years ago. It looks like her flops in the entertainment world have led her back to exactly where she doesn't want to be. Money quest, I guess. Got to replenish all the coffers after such big losses.
