Star JOnes is leaving the view...

Tom Selleck is well liked by the view hosts (God help you if they don't), so i wonder if he'll want to bother coming back on the show once Rosie is on the couch.

That's one benefit to having Rosie as a host. He's a bag of hot air and I'm sick of him. Much preferred him when he was making Marlboro magazine ads back in the 70's!!!! Then we didn't have to listen to him talk, he's not all that smart. Himbo anyone?

Reading this post and watching all of the entertainment shows tonight :happytv: , I started to wonder if this was a publicity stunt to try and increase ratings and further push the cat-fighting between Star and Rosie for a further boost in ratings. I'm not sure whether I believe it is a publicity stunt or not, it was just a thought I had.:confused3

P.S. Even though I watch the View a few times a week, I tend to zone out Star when she starts talking about personal stuff and I pretty much stopped watching when Star was being a bridezilla  , so I wanted to know where the belief that her husband Al is gay?? I missed that and was curious.:scratchin

They keep talking about it on MSNBC... someone trying to say Star is "good TV" that we tuned in to see what she had on and how her hair was done...NOT! LOL she actually just said if Paris can get a job in TV so can Star!! And she is a Star fan LOL LOL dumb new ladies :lmao:

Yes, I noticed it. Many a time she would just sit there with downcast eyes. I'll bet the tension there was real high.

I noticed that too. I knew something was going to happen.

After all his psychiatry-bashing and post partum depression pooh-poohing last year, I'm pretty sure Tom isn't on Rosie's list of people she likes or respects anymore.

I actually saw an interview Rosie did recently where she talked about the Tom Cruise thing. She said something to the effect that she had been star struck over Tom Cruise since he first started and always would be. She disagreed very strongly with his views and some of his recent actions but that didn't change that feeling she'd had all these years. She said "he'll always be my Tommy".

I didn't think it was weird with the whole gay thing at all. She was sort of the same way over Barbara Striesand - only didn't call that a "crush". She obviously didn't really feel "hot" for him or she wouldn't have been discussing it with his wife, etc. many times over the years. She was star struck and just played it up.

I attended the June 8 taping of The View to see Kelly Clarkson (was disappointed she didn't sing..sat through an hour of The View for nothing....but I digress). There was definite tension on the set. At one point, Star even yelled at a production assistant because she needed her cell phone "RIGHT NOW!". Another thing that was very telling was after the show ended, they filmed a promo for some guy's birthday, presumably some exec at ABC. Well, after the show was over, Star immediately left the studio while the others filmed the promo. I thought that was rather interesting.

Here's a couple of pics taken during commercial. In the first you can see Meredith and Elisabeth going out into the crowd while Joy and Star stay behind...they didn't talk to each other through the entire commercial.

I saw some "entertainment news" on the 'net that she didn't announce it the way ABC had asked her too so they dumped her immediately instead of waiting for her contract to finish. I haven't see the show the last 2 days....is she gone already? The gossip was that she was out the door this week.... :confused3

She made her announcement tuesday. in fact, she interrupted a story Joy was telling and said, i'm sorry, i have to get this out or something like that. joy said, it's ok and then star just let loose, very nicely i thought at the time. i tuned in on wed., and only the 3 came out and barbara opened with "and then there were 3" and went into her side of it and how star chose a "different way", even though they said they would have backed up any story she wanted them to. she said "in fact, star has known for months now" that her contract was not being renewed that ABC did not ask her to come back in the fall. she said it was too uncomfortable for everyone to pretend any longer.

the publicity stunt thing is an interesting thought!

Star is handling this poorly. I feel that she thinks the viewing audience will rally around her. That they will boycott The View because she was let go. It isn't going to happen. She is seriously damaging her career. Now she's going on the talk show circuit to discuss it. Where are her advisors? :confused3 You don't play smack down with Barbara Walters! :teeth:

I need a bit of background. What happened between Rosie and Tom Selleck (sp)?

Since I teach all year and do not know all the "stuff" that goes on unless it happens in summer....what exactly is the problem with Tom Selleck and Rosie.

People are right about Star doing the talk show circuit. She will be trying to do a mia culpa so she can get a job. As I said before...I am sure Payless will hire her..they are always looking for new cashiers!

She invited him to her show to talk about some upcoming movie he was starring at the time. Then, out of the blue, she decided to ask him about his stand on gun control. He said he was there for the movie, but she went on and on attacking and questioning his support of the NRA.

The sad thing is that she did it in such a way that even people like me (that agreed with what she was saying) HATED the way she decided to get her point across.

i know star was a lawyer before (still is) but how in the world did the VIEW find out about her, i mean what qualified her to be a talk show host and how did she even GET that job? :confused3

She was on one of the cable news shows I think she made her mark during the whole OJ thing. I could be wrong.

IIRC, Star became somewhat well known during the OJ trial. She was one of the "legal experts" providing commentary during the trial on one of the news stations - maybe CourtTV?.

The saga continues....

The war of words between Star Jones Reynolds and Barbara Walters over the former's dramatic departure from The View this week continues to sizzle.

As PEOPLE.com reported on Wednesday, Walters told PEOPLE she felt "betrayed" by Reynolds's comments to the magazine, referring to Reynolds's statement saying, "I feel like I was fired."

In response, Reynolds tells New York's Daily News: "For Barbara to say she felt betrayed is the height of hypocrisy."

The statement echoes what she told PEOPLE: "I thought the audience deserved to have their Star tell them what the deal is. To now be accused of betrayal by someone I looked at as a mentor, when I was finally speaking up for myself instead of letting the executives and tabloids speak for me, is disheartening.”

Reynolds also says she hasn't spoken to Walters since Tuesday's show. The call to say she was should not return for Wednesday's episode went from the network directly to her agent – and that "If anyone should feel betrayed, it should be me," Reynolds tells the News.

It was not out of the blue, before the show she asked him if he would talk about it and he said yes. Then when he really couldn't defend his support of the NRA (at the time he was doing commericals for the NRA) he decided to make her look like an idiot. I think Rosie got a little carried away and was to emotional, but it was hardly an ambush. The thing that upset me the most was the next day on The View Selleck made such a nasty remark about Rosie, implying that she was just some dumb emotional female with no right to an opinion that disagreed with him that I have never really be able to watch him without thinking how patronizing he is to women. JMHO

I just heard Al Roker say he will be interviewing Star Jones tomorrow. Should be interesting. popcorn::

Yes, I saw that woman from a Phil entertainment magazine on Tucker Carlson last night and Tucker said to her "I think you are the only one supporting Star"....she chuckled and said "no, people love Star and they always tune in to see what she is wearing and how her hair is done".........WHATTTTTTTTT.......NO WE DID NOT.......

NOW my question is at the end of that interview Tucker had asked her about something HORRIBLE Star had done...???...and the reporter agreed it was horrible....something about "shaking down" Sponsors..Sponsors would give her FREE stuff and she would mention their name on the VIEW...........
Does anyone know what that was all about........??????????????????

I think that was about her wedding. She had sponsors who paid or gave her stuff for the wedding and then she would mention them on TV.
