I signed up for grocerygame.com and do couponmom.com. I cut my coupons and use the lists. I honestly have found that places I would have thought were more expensive are cheaper when you know how to read the ad, use a coupon, only buy what you need on your list at that strore. I don't get lured into a store and just do my shopping there. I spend time planning my trip out, organize things by store and list and off I go. I might run to Kroger for the milk, eggs, pop because they are cheaper there, hit Walgreens for the free shampoo or body wash or glade air freshners, then hit Meijer for the remaining groceries on sale. Last week I save $65 on my weekly bill at one store thru coupons and sale items. I know not to buy the non-sale items at the store or pay full price. I have a stockpile of things.
Don't assume because a place isn't Walmart or Target they are cheaper. There are bargains to be had at all stores but you have to take the time and educate yourself on when/where to buy things. I drive my family crazy doing my coupons and shopping but we are saving weekly. One afternoon and I can get my shopping done for the week. I did the same on school items...buying supplies at stores I normally wouldn't.
OP don't assume Staples or any other store is more...in some cases Walmart is the cheapest and in other cases they are not. I pull ads and compare them...guess I notice that Walmart DOESN'T have a weekly grocery ad. My catfood is cheaper at PetSmart with a rewards discount than at Walmart. I can buy things in bulk at Sam's cheaper...they even have clearence there (yes I know Sams in part of Walmart). I am buying name brand items...not having to buy the off brands.
Shop where you want and be happy with it but know that if you open your eyes and expand your store shopping you will find cheap bargains at places other than Walmart. You don't have to do ALL your shopping at one store either. Plan ahead and you can save...if it is only a small savings I will not drive to a cheaper store because of the gas and time.
I do it too...I rarely buy anything but the loss leaders at Staples. I go in with my kids, we get whatever the limit is for the item/s that week and leave. If Staples binders are more expensive than Walmarts, then I won't buy them at Staples, but you can't argue with the fact that Staples weekly specials blow Walmart's prices out of the water.
