Stand-by line for Rise ***NO SPOILERS***

As this is the new 'hot' thread for RotR, it will be a *NO SPOILER* thread. OP has been contacted to request that this information be added to the title.

Thanks for not posting anything (words or pictures) that contain any sort or ride or queue information.

Sadly, I fear that when IA$ opens there will still be a quick 7AM celebration or disappointment. The main difference will be that those celebrating will be paying a stiff fee for it.

Sure hope I’m wrong!
Politely, I hope you're wrong too but I can totally see what you're saying becoming the new normal. :(

At this rate, all the IA$ will be snatched up in seconds of the 7 am drop. This is just adding a whole new level of anxiety to an already stressful “vacation”.

i seriously doubt that.
1) at 7am IA$ i assume will only open to hotel guests,
2) Disney will make sure that there is always availability to send more money their way ;-)

MDE already has it down to 75 minutes. Since this was the first day of predicting the wait, they might have been off/wanting to detract that giant mob of people from joining the line while they got things sorted out.

My understanding is it's going to be open to everyone. Maybe I'm remembering that wrong though?

I can't even imagine waiting in these lines.

Right now the RotR standby line is only 10 mins more than FoP. I'll admit I didn't see that happening at all!

Happy to say I wildly over-predicted (so far) how long the wait time would get for RotR. Here's hoping I continue to be wrong. ;)

i could be wrong.. i thought i read somewhere that only hotel guests will be able to start making IA$ reservations at 7AM. i would be more than happy to be wrong on this. we are staying offsite for our visit in December just before Christmas and are in no way interested in waiting in 3-4 hour lines for 1 ride.

Further thought, I'm thinking I might be mixing it up with the $15 Genie :). That's open to everyone when the window opens, right?

me too - however, when I look at MDE right now, Rise is at 180 min, Slinky is at 45 and Mickey RR is 50....is that "less" than before???
All those people will be there until at least 1:30 since they can't hop until 2pm. Makes a crowded park even more crowded. Just got back from a 10nday trip. Thankfully I didn't have to deal with this nonsense from disney.

I have clients in the park now. The line was crazy at RD, which is to be expected. But then almost immediately, waits were drastically inflated by MDE. Although MDE at one point claimed a wait of over 3.5 hours, that was never true. MDE is now much more in line with the actual wait, and TP has it at 64 minutes which my client says is pretty accurate. With BG's not filling up/being available until late in the day recently, this all makes sense. The actual situation on the ground is much less chaotic than it seems.

That's good to hear. I know park crowds are very low right now, so I wouldn't expect the waits to be too crazy. I'm sure those numbers will rise as crowds increase around October, but hopefully it stays somewhat manageable.

I’m curious if they keep it running in Disney’s typical way of making sure everyone gets a ride as long as you’re in line way. If DHS closes at 9pm and I get in line at 8:59, can I ride? Or will they shut it down early? It’s my understanding that it’s a finicky ride that is prone to downtime but perhaps they got some of the bugs ironed out.

Right, like Flight of Passage is around 60 mins on low crowd days and then gets crazy around the holidays. But then so does everything else. This will work out to be the same. The advice as per usual is go during lower crowds if you want lower wait times, or if you want to go for Christmas or whatever (as I do so I’m not judging), just be prepared to wait. It’s not a big deal, and this is a much fairer system than the boarding groups.

MDE wait times are almost never accurate.
This was our experience last week. As an example, the other night (a Boo Bash night, so overlapping crowds), I stepped onto 7DMT right before fireworks knowing it would be a shorter wait since many would go to the hub. Said 45 minutes, it took about 15. Fireworks started when I was getting off the ride and I was able to watch the show from Fantasyland easily.

Hopefully, Rise waiting times will be manageable going forward. That initial rope drop crowd was way worse than when I RD Galaxy's Edge in late June. But it seems to be pretty organized now based on photos.

They really do need to bring back shows. It's long past time. (Plus I miss them! :))

Yes, we have had the same experience over and over again. I am convinced that MDE wait times are more of a crowd control tool: if a line has been steadily building, wait times will be inflated to encourage guests to go elsewhere and even things out. Also, I think it makes sense to under-promise and over-deliver. If a wait time stays 75 minutes but it's only 55 minutes in actuality, people are going to be super happy. When the reverse happens, people get angry. We just follow TP Lines app: if BTMR says 55 minutes on MDE but 15 minutes on TP...we run over there lol. Works like a charm almost every time.

I personally wonder if wait times/demand will actually go down a bit for this ride now that it doesn’t require a boarding group. There was such a “stigma or allure” about the elusive boarding group ride that whether you liked Star Wars or not, you didn’t want to “miss out.” It is a super neat ride/experience but is actually not my fav of all time by any means! Sure the demand will still be there, but once the hype on social media goes down, at some point Disney will come out with something bigger and better. I don’t know, just my take on it....

I wondered the same thing. The “price of admission” to get a boarding group was nearly zero, other than getting up early and having fast fingers. I think someone people got them just because they could and it was essentially a free ride where they didn’t need to stand in line. Perhaps fewer people will want to actually wait in line for it.
