Stalking DISers.... continue here

I just wanted to check in...I'm sitting here on the couch Dising, watching Island TV and looking out the glass doors at the beautiful Gulf of Mexico! We will be going out to the beach in a little while. The weather is beautiful today. It's supposed to be 91. I will check back in later.

Sounds heavenly! Send us some pictures! :beach:

It was in the high 90's here yesterday and more of the same today and this whole week. poor Dana... finals in this weather with no air conditioning in school! :headache: (and a terrible case of allergies, too!)

Today we have our theatre tickets - going to see "Little Shop of Horrors", then bring home some dinner and sit by the pool this evening. (last show was "Kiss Me, Kate" and it was terrific - not sure what I'm going to think of this show.. lol)

It has been wonderful so far. I think it has gotten our minds off of Paul's work situation. I will try to post some pictures later but we haven't even gotten the camera out yet...we should be ashamed! I should have taken it down to the beach this afternoon. Paul and Amanda were catching litte fish in the ocean and bringing them up to a bucket that Alyssa had. It was a clear bucket so the fish looked like they were in an aquarium. I think we ended up with about 20 fish, 1 shrimp, some other kind of creature and a small crab! It was amazing! Amanda caught 5 little fish in her net at one time. Alyssa was pretending to be Ariel taking care of her "fishy friends". It was so cute & fitting because of course she had on an Ariel swimsuit. When Paul put them back in the ocean Alyssa told them that she would see them again tomorrow night.

Oh my goodness I can't imagine a school with no A/C!! Of course down here we run ours 9 to 10 months out of the year. I'm sure she will do great on her finals in spite of the heat. I hope her allergies don't have her feeling too badly.

Let me know how the show was. I hope you had fun!

What do the girls think of "swimming with the fish"?! Dana is not a fan of ocean swimming! She enjoys the waves until something brushes against her, then she sort of creeps out if she thinks it's alive. lol :scared1: Of course, the problem is sometimes there are jellyfish in Cape May and she's afraid of getting stung. She would much prefer the swimming pool! :hippie:

"Little Shop of Horrors" was very good - in a campy sort of way. Not particularly my taste - I like the traditional musicals much better - but it's fun to have the theatre subscription, because it gives us the opportunity to see shows we might not have chosen. We have fantastic seats - 2nd row center orchestra, so you can see such detail in the actors faces. Next year's line up is very ecclectic, six shows in all, some I'll love, some I'm not so sure!
Bob is a great sport - he goes just for us.

Felt terrible sending her off to school today - she doesn't feel well, stomach & throat were bothering her (I think from the allergies dripping down her throat, etc) but it's technically the "last day of classes" and it was really important that she hear everything she needs to know regarding finals. No fever and her throat didn't look bad. She rarely complains, so I know she doesn't feel good. I told her I'd pick her up at dismissal so she doesn't have to ride the bus in 98 degree heat. :worried:

Just checking in! Hope everyone had a great week.

Sonya... I am seriously jealous that you spent time at the beach. We haven't been in over a year, and I am missing it. Of course, right now the NC beaches are full of smoke from the wild fire, so probably I'm not missing much. Yesterday the smoke was blowing inland all the way to Raleigh (3 1/2 hour drive) and was thick enough to reduce visibility. You couldn't be outside without your eyes and lungs burning. :(

Renee... How did Dana's finals go? I bet she is glad to have it all behind her, and get to some serious relaxing for summer. Are you all packed and ready for your trip?

Kari
We have smelled the smoke all the way up here in Va beach. They said the wildfires are 100 miles south of here. A few nights ago, the smell was really bad around here.

Hey Jackie!! You will probably get it again this weekend, as they are saying the wind is shifting northward later today. Today I can barely notice the smell... thank goodness!

When is your cruise... early August? I know you all are getting excited! We are still planning on going in October, but it is going to be very tight getting it paid off, and saving the spending money. The other day the radiator overflow tank on Wynn's truck ($75) on his way home from getting new tires ($700). He was able to fix it himself, but dropped a socket down into the engine and couldn't get it back out. Normally, the socket would fall out along the road somewhere... no big deal. However, this particular socket fell into the fan, and flew up into the radiator, knocking a hole in it... $600. I SO did not need this crap right now!

English & History finals today - and then FRESHMAN YEAR IS COMPLETED! :cool1: WOO HOO!!!!

I am picking her up at 11am with three of her friends, and they are spending the day here in the pool and I'll call for pizza. She had such an amazing year - maturity-wise, new friendships, new experiences, good grades - we are so proud of her! :lovestruc

Sorry to hear about the wildfires - what a shame. :(

Bob & I have all our things spread out on the guest room bed for over a week now - Dana needs to decide what she wants to bring. I am SO DETERMINED not to overpack this time... but I just never succeed! :rolleyes1 I DID take a few things off the bed already, so maybe there's hope for me yet! ;)

Well, my girls don't actually swim in the ocean. They will get in about knee deep but when it comes to swimming they have to be in the pool. They like to play in the sand. Paul builds a sand castle and always makes Ariel tails for the girls.

It has definitley been fun but now Alyssa and I are sick. The dr phoned me in some antiboitics on Wednesday and now Alyssa's dr just called her in one and some cough medicine. It's just the crud but we are coughing so much that it's hard to sleep. Maybe you can get to the beach sometime after your cruise. I hope everything works out where you can go on your cruise!!

Renee - I'm glad that school will be over for Dana today. It sounds like she had a wonderful year. I'm sure that she and her friends will have fun at your house this afternoon.

Dont things always happen like that, when we are planning on saving money for vacation. 2 yrs ago we went on a cruise, Aug 2006. It took us all yr to pay it off and save for spending money. 3 1/2 weeks before the cruise, my golden retriever hurt her back leg, she needed ACL surgery on her back knee OUCH!!!, with surgery and xrays/tests, it cost us around $1400::yes::

So I had a strict talk with my golden "no hurting yourself before vacation";)

Our cruise is Aug 21. We paid it off 2 weeks ago. We were hoping our stimulus check would be here first, but its not due until next week or later. So We had to charge the balance, which I hated, but we will pay it off with the check.

Just checking in, we're at the contemporary facing the way towards Wilderness lodge. We can see Epcot from our balcony. I however am in Disney on a sprained wrist.

I'm jealous!! I hope your sprained wrist doesn't slow you down!!

Glad you had that "talk" with your Golden! LOL :lmao:

How did you sprain your wrist?

I went into the gas station on Thursday morning in my crocs and the floor had a very bad mop job that it was still wet and I slipped caught myself spraining my wrist and hitting my knee and bruising it.

Who was it on our thread that slipped and fell last year right before the trip? Renee maybe?

Hope you are having a wonderful time! I am SO jealous of everyone right now! ::yes:: (That's me green with envy!)

Tomorrow will kick off our first day. I had my first taste of white wine tonight and it was well yuck.

I think red wine is better than white, but not by much! Order a Tom Collins sometime... it is gin with sour mix, tastes sort of lemonade-ish. But just drink 1, because they are strong!

Yep, that was me... scrapped up my knee and hand very badly crossing the street the day before the trip...
Here's proof of my nasty knee... and my favorite rummy drink at the Dolphin!

MUCH prefer Red to white.. and I love a GOOD, dry champagne!

I'm starting off slow that was my first drink ever, tomorrow is a frozen margarita.
Mai Tai at Blizzard Beach is REALLY GOOD, too! Oooo... I can't wait for a week from Tuesday!!!:cool1:
