We are interested in the St. John Island tour with the visit to the Annenburg ruins. Has anyone been on it before? I noticed it was 5 hours with no mention of a meal. Do they stop at any point for people to get something to eat?

I'm pretty sure that's the one we took a couple of years ago. It is that long because of the boat ride from St Thomas to St John. There is no meal provided, but you do have time to pick up snacks before during and after the tour.

We really really enjoyed the tour, but we usually like those over view type of tours any way. We found St John to be breathtakingly beautiful and each stop along the way up the mountain seemed to produce a more spectacular views.

We would highly recommend it.

We too took this tour several years ago and enjoyed it very much. The island is breathtakingly beautiful. I do remember stopping along the way where you were able to purchase snacks. We had brought our own along with bottled water so we were all set. One thing I do remember was that there wasn't too many opportunities to use the restroom.

The excursion says 7:15 am to 1:50 p.m. but the itenerary says we don't gop ashore until 8:00a.m.. What is the deal?:confused3

It looks like in your case they need to update the meeting time for your excursion to better fit the all-ashore time.

Don't forget that you'll meet your group onboard probably before they have the all-ashore time. So if port time is 8:00 am, it isn't unusual to have a meeting time of 7:15 or 7:30. They have to check everyone in, hand out towels and sometimes consent/release forms. Then you'd walk down all together. That usually does kill a good 45 minutes all told.

They list the times of excursions, from the time you meet onboard, to the time you're dropped back at the ship usually.

Forgot to say, we did this tour and really enjoyed it alot. The island is beautiful.
There is at least one little store along the way that they stop at, where you can pick up a drink and a snack.

This is an amazing tour. We loved it!

If you're concerned about eating, take something from the ship.

I did this last year. No Meal. the ruins were not what I really excepected it to be. Skip the tour, take a water taxi on your own to St. John then a taxi to Trunk Bay (rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world) and spend the day there. TRUST ME you will have more fun the island tour!

happy sailing!

We loved this tour. I agree with others that the island is beautiful and not to be missed. Trunk Bay is very nice, but if you're interested in more than just a beach day, I would suggest this tour. You do stop for snacks (bring cash) and get lots of chances for some amazing photos. We enjoyed it so much that we've been back twice on our own renting a villa each time. Have fun!

Does anyone know where else the tour stops other than the Annenburg Ruins? Does it stop by any beaches, like Trunk Bay, for photo ops?

bumping...

Also, does anyone know which ferry they use to return to St. Thomas: Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook?

Trying to plan my day after the tour...
