After reading the thread about the bugs...
I'm terrified of snakes. I actually request top floor at Old Key West to avoid them crawling in the patio door even though it means hauling all of the luggage up 3 flights of stairs! In all the trips I've only seen 1 small one in EPCOT's parking lot. Children saw one on Tom Sawyer's Island and at Fort Wilderness.
What about the rest of you????

I've never seen any live snakes at WDW except in the Pocahontas show at AK.

I have seen 1 snake on the walkway to Tarzan Rocks. however, the only reason I saw it was because there was an animal control person taking it away.

I have seen an alligator in the pond close to ASMu. It was a little more frightening to me than the snake.

We encountered two snakes at BB, not on our last trip, but the trip before. One was in the Ketcchikidde Creek (Lazy river ride that encircles the park) and the lifeguard was trying to scoop it out. The second one was geting pinned by another CM in the bushes between the pathways.

Ick, I hate snakes!

Schmeck, who can't go a lazy river ride anywhere now without worrying about getting bottom-bit by a snake, LOL!

Nope, no snakes...just alligators, bunny rabbits and armadillos!!!

We saw an armidillo on our way to Epcot as we were driving to the parking lot! He was the most adorable thing ever! I love the way they walk! Too cute!!

I have seen 2 snakes and an armadillo. We were in the lazy river at BB and I saw one floating down the water. I couldn't get off my tube fast enough and under my butt it goes. Did not get back in the water the rest of the day. The other snake was in the pool at CS. The armadillo came out of the bushes at CBR one night walking back from the bus stop.

As for the bunny rabbit, that's horrible! I'm deathly afraid of snakes and that's why I have never been to a water park in WDW. I've heard that they often get into the water, especially the lazy river. Actually heard reports of CMs with snake sticks. True or not, you won't catch me at the water park, even though I'd love to go.

I saw two thin black snakes while riding around Fort Wilderness on a bike - but I like snakes and think it's cool to see some Florida wildlife!

Also saw a tiny green snake smushed on a sidewalk at Port Orleans Riverside. Poor snake!

Okay - I live in Florida, so I'm used to the occasional snake, BUT we have been to lots of water parks in Florida and have never experienced a snake in the water parks. This will be our first trip to Blizzard Beach in May, so now I'm a little nervous, as the Lazy River is exactly where I would want to hang out. Are we talking just black snakes or green snakes, or are we talking poisonous snakes?

Notice the tag-I hate snakes. Haven't seen any but tons of geckos (sp?)

A deer crossed our path one time as we drove in to the Grand Floridian Parking Lot and an otter played in the lake outside our room at Wilderness lodge. But no snakes

We saw a small snake at Blizzard Beach - not in the lazy river but on one of the paths up to the slides. I hate snakes but this one was not very threatening. I certainly would not avoid a fun day at a water park because of the slight chance you might see a snake. Even if you saw one in the lazy river it would not really do you any harm other than give you a little fright - just think of it as a "thrill" ride.

We saw a snake at Animal Kingdom in 2001. It seems kind of fitting doesn't it?;)

Vanryan-looks like we'll be WDW neighbours!!

One fell out of a tree at my feet while sitting on the verandah at GF. One slithered just ahead of my foot while leaving the Volcano pool and heading into the concierge building. We saw one pulled from the lazy river ride at BB and the pool at Polynesian. Yep, I screamed two ofthe 3x I saw them! Bet you can guess which. ;)

I don't think I've seen any snakes in WDW. The only creature's I've seen are an anole and many bugs of various sorts. What kind of water snakes are we talking about? In Michigan, there are water mocasin's (sp?) and they are poisonous! Of course, all snakes can swim (I saw that on Animal Planet). I own a snake so I don't think I would be overly afraid if I saw one, even if it was in the pool. Odds are - I don't look like food, and I wouldn't fit in it's mouth.

You saw a snake eat a bunny? How big was the snake? Or was it a small bunny?

Everyone has their phobias. While I am not afraid of snakes, alligators or apparently armed robbers (as I had occasion to scare some off once) I am deadly afraid of dogs and believe me that sure do hamper my lifestyle. Poor pooches wonder what the crazy lady is up to when I start shaking and sweating.

Being afraid of 'what ifs" is a hard thing. Wish I had the answer and I would gladly share it with you. Maybe if you concentrate on things at least three feet high and above you will not notice a snake wandering around?
