If you're afraid of snakes, you might want to avoid golfing (and DH wonders why I don't golf?). One time when he was at LBV golf course, they had a "snake alert" posted. It seems that there'd been heavy rain recently, and all the water encouraged the snakes out of their holes. Yeck! I'd be outta there so fast! And he did see "a few", he said.

I've seen little garden snakes on the sidewalks at CBR and at BC. They don't bother me at all because they are really small and harmless! Now, the snakes I've seen when running on the gravel road near my house in Missouri, scare the living daylights out of me.

Encountered a snake near the top of the climb to one of Typhoon Lagoon's slides. The thing slithered across the path and under a rock. I was paranoid the rest of the day.

October 5th..2003 Wilderness Lodge Pool...me sitting out in a chair next to the pool sunning myself....all of the sudden my kids jumping around saying whoa, whoa, whoa....What did that mean? I didn't bother to open my eyes..let their dad figure out what whoa meant......well it meant, MOM there was a big black snake about 3 feet long starting to crawl up the leg of your chair. It slithered back to a bush by the time I figured out what had happenend. Next time I told my family to yell..." SNAKE !".. not whoa

We we stayed at VWL we had a ground floor studio. I was just about to go out and sit on the patio when a snake went past the door! :earseek: I stayed inside!

Guess that is one of the reasons VWL is not one of my favorites - a little too much Wilderness for me. :D

At the tables just outside the Roaring Forks exit. Sunnin' himself on the sidewalk....

Anyone know exactly what kind of snakes these are? I'm sure Disney doesn't have dangerous snakes wriggling around, but I'd sure like to know what kind are swimming with me in the lazy river:eek:

About the snake we encountered in the water at BB - lifeguard told us it wasn't poisonous, but did like to bite! All I could think of was all of the tushies stuck through tubes, like nice little (or big?) offerings, LOL!

I would like to know too!! Anyone know for sure what kind we're talking about (black snakes don't sound friendly in any respect). Little green ones scare me to death (BTW I'm not real fond of worms either).

We saw about a 4 foot brownish-yellow snake cross the path while we were in a golf cart at FW. I was intrigued (it was huge :earseek: ) and wanted to investigate. But my sister (snake phobia  ) who unfortunately was driving, would have none of that. Any Floridians know what that was?

Never seen a snake, but we did see a panther driving from FW to Downtown. Crossed right in front of our car.

I've seen 2 of them. 1st time when walking in DD it slithered right across the sidewalk. 2nd one was on the Trumbo Ferry @ OKW it went right across the water.

But now I'm petrified to go to BB. Yikes!

Anyone know what kind of snakes we are talking about?

My advice, stay away from the snakes and they will stay away from you. Take it from someone who spent a lot of time as a kid trying to find and catch snakes, they know you are coming well before you see them. So it is unlikely that you will step on one.

Besides, the CMs will capture them pretty quickly. No one gets in the parks without paying $52 - - even snakes. :)

saw the best kind of snake right in front of our FW campsite......dead. Squished like road pizza.

sorry to offend some of you snake lovers out there and yes, i appreciate their place in the circle of nature, but i detest them. (and mosquitos, and wolf spiders, and those little green/brown lizards. all these things are great - as long as they stay Way far away from the interior of my camper.)

Your best bet is to treat them all like they're poisonous!! When I worked for the FL Park Service there was a park visitor who came running out of our swimming area (a natural spring) screaming she wasn't coming back until we got rid of all the snakes!! It was hilarious! :D

The snake that ate the bunny was quite big. it took 2 CM's to remove it. they put it into a black bag and it looked as if it was a large snake as they took it away
