SSR vs OKW

Hello, folks. Just found this board after being told about it from a conversation at had a the pool at the Boardwalk while there on business last week.

We own at OKW but just purchased some add on points at SSR and are looking at staying at SSR this summer. For any of you that either own at both or have stayed at both, can you compare and contrast the two for me? What will I like about SSR after having spent most of my DVC time at OKW? What won't I like. We are looking for a change this time, just for the variety, but I'd be curious anyone's insights! Thanks!

The main differences we found, none of which were big postives or negatives:

smaller units at SSR...no big deal for two of us
parking at SSR was more congested..could be due to construction impact
SSR furnishings are more "formal"...we were aware of it...
Walk to DTD was much shorter at SSR
Prefer the larger kitchen/dining area at OKW

I'm sure there are several things I forgot; but we've stayed at all the DVC
places in WDW and have never found anything we considered a serious detriment--we don't look for things not to like; which I'm sure has helped.

I think all of SSR is more formal than OKW.

OKW relaxed, lay back -Florida style.

SSR uptown NY style.

to me they are very different.

What I found I missed most at SSR was that nice big balcony at OKW. What I liked the most was the view from my (smaller) balcony. That's not a good combination!

We've stayed at OKW about a million times, (okay, maybe that's an exaggeration.) We also stayed at SSR.

In addition to the differences that you noted, we liked having elevators at SSR. At first, we were a bit disappointed that we didn't get the view of DTD, but then we realized that we had a perfect view of Wishes from our room on the opposite side of the building.

DH and I love the Turf Club. It's a great place to relax with a drink and have a snack. The Saratoga Potato Chips with warm bleu cheese dressing is fantastic.

The construction didn't bother us. We went through the same thing when we joined OKW as it hadn't been completed yet.

Still love OKW, but SSR has plenty of good points. I would stay there again.

We are OKW owners, but recently stayed at SSR. SSR has much nicer pillowtop beds! That's a big plus for us.
