Now that my family has grown a little, I'm finding it harder to book DVC rooms. I've known that a lot of studios only sleep 4, but a few sleep 5. I always thought that 1-bedrooms slept 5, but now that I'm trying to book I'm getting a notice that "5th guest can be accommodated, but please note that NO ADDITIONAL BEDDING, LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED."

So they only give you towels and linens for 4 even though the occupancy is up to 5? Seems a little ridiculous to me. Does anyone know if there are plans to add either a sleeper chair or one of those entertainment center pull down beds?

In the 1 bedrooms no there simply isn't room. You can book a 5th person but they won't supply a bed or bedding or towels

We always found for 5 a 2 bedroom was much better

If you book 5 in a 1 bedroom for SSR, BWV, BCV, or VWL, you will be on your own to provide for the 5th person. Many here will bring an aero bed (or something similar) for the 5th person. You can purchase an additional towel package for $6 - .believe that includes 4 bath, 2 hand and 4 face cloths.

As Minniesgal says, there simply isn't room for a sleeper chair or the combo Murphy bed / entertainment center in the 1 bedroom villas in those resorts, so it is not at all likely that those rooms will ever officially sleep 5 (plus a baby).

THis is why when we have 5, we generally will book OKW, AK-K and BLT (the last 2 give you 2 full bathrooms in a 1 bedroom) which increases the towels available too! We had no real problem at the others while the grandkids were toddlers and slept with mom and dad in the king bed. Now that second full bath is a must for us.

This is great info to know. We are still new so have not even booked our first trip, but are a family of 5 and are planning future trips to VWL, Bw & BC. I guess in those trips we will have to make sure we fly SW and use the free checked bags for an air mattress. Are there other options for renting an air mattress/cot and linens from somewhere in orlando? I know there are places where you can rent baby items when traveling.

Ironically, the studios in VWL, BWV and soon BCV (renovating now) officially sleep 5 with a Murphy bed under the TV.

Unfortunately, the 1BR to studio connecting door (combined, they are a 2BR lockoff) is in the living room, and there is not room for the extra sleeper in the 1BR.
It is a little silly on the 1BR side. It used to be a WDW value tip that a family of 5 could stay in a deluxe standard hotel room for less $ than connecting rooms at cheaper resorts.

VGF also has a fifth bed as there is a murphy bed in the living room of a 1 BR. That means when you book a 2BR lock off at VGF it will sleep 10 because both the 1BR and the studio have a murphy bed.

If you have your heart set on a resort where the 1 bedrooms still are 4 bedding/5 book, buy an air mattress on Amazon.com and have it delivered (best kind are the self-inflating), then get the extra towel package for $6. Ask for a spare blanket when you get there. Put the mattress against a wall when not in use. It is still a lot cheaper than the 2 bedroom.

Just as not all studios sleep 5 there are also 1BR's that do have beds for 5 while others have 4 beds. It's just picking out what is more important. The location you prefer and bringing a bed if it doesn't provide beds for 5 or booking a 2BR or else to book where there are beds for 5 even if it wouldn't have been your preferred location.
