SSR...This Bother Me!!!!

If you look at the map location shown in the article, you'll see it is not really Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa (SSR) but an offsite hotel with a similar name. And the one report showing for OKW, interestingly enough, was for a freshly rehabbed room as they are talking about the pull out chair in the living room, so I rather take that report with a grain of salt.

We were at SSR less than a month ago and there were no bed bugs! :thumbsup2 Going back in 10 days to BC, so I hope there are no bed bugs there either! :scared1:

I stayed there for a week in August, and again for a week in October -- both times the rooms were immaculate. Because of all of the bed bug hype, as soon as we got into the room we checked the bed, headboard, mattress, under mattress pad, etc. No sign of bed bugs. We had a great stay, in a great resort. We absolutely love SSR!

Plus, if a Disney resort did have bed bugs, by the time you saw it posted on a website somewhere, Disney would have taken proper action to resolve the problem.

This same issue with the SSR sounding hotel was discussed a year or two ago. We have never found any bed bugs at Disney, but anything can happen.

I certainly hope so!! However, bed bugs are very difficult to get rid of.
This is becoming a nightmare no matter where you go. I think that it is important to be vigilant when checking into a hotel/resort etc., but it is pointless to become obsessive about it, or your vacation will be ruined.

Forced heat can kill bed bugs. Professional exterminators use forced heat and heat the room to 120-130 degrees. This kills the bugs and the eggs. It does not leave any insecticide residue. I would not be surprised if Disney has a contract with this sort of service.

With the amount of traffic through Disney, they are at risk and not immune. I am sure they have a plan and one that works. They may even have a regular maintenance schedule for this treatment.

Bed Bugs!! I'm an owner at SSR and if the place has bed bugs I want it cleaned up right away.

I'll pay the extra .5 cent in my dues to get it sorted out!!!

It is not a hotel problem, it is a guest problem. The resorts will take care of the problem, and new guests will bring more in. It will never be sorted out until bed bugs are gone for good, and that won't happen because we no longer allow the use of the pesticides that kills them effectively.
The only thing you can do is be proactive by searching your room before you completely inhabit it to avoid bringing them home and spreading more.

We were there in October in a 2 BR and just returned yesterday from a 1 BR. We saw no signs of bedbugs. Trust me, I looked because I have been very concerned about these critters and will stay concerned. DH laughs at me, but I don't want the expense of having to remove them from our home that is less than six months old. I hope that makes you feel better.

Just left this morning, no bed bugs in our one bedroom. Room was clean and quiet. Love our SSR.

Just got back from a two week stay at SSR, no bed bugs to report!
