Just curiuos...
Saw a drawing of SSR's bulidings and pool.
I never saw DI so I was wondering about the construction.
Are they using all of DI's old buildings? Same theme or totally different? Just changing the facades then? Are rooms being redone?
Is the main pool the same? Looked neat from the pic, maybe zero depth?!?
Isn't this right beside DD? Is there a walking path?

Thanks ahead!
:)

The DVC resort and pool will be all new construction. The spa and golf facility are remnants of DI, but the DVC portion will be brand new when it opens in 2004.

It is near DD and will be an easy walk. SSR Resort

Enjoy!

The Disney Institute core complex — containing the spa, dining facilities, check-in-facilities, and other public spaces — is fairly new, and was designed by a famous architect, Thomas Beeby. It opened around 7 years ago. This complex will become the core of the Saratoga Springs Resort. In fact, the former Spa at DI is already doing business as the Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.

I don't expect too much to change in architecture of the core complex — there's really no need for new facades. Beeby's buildings have a timeless, classic small-town look that should go fairly well with the Saratoga Springs theme. Plus, I doubt that Disney (Eisner, in particular) would want to deface the work of an esteemed architect.

But the old, unthemed Villas at Disney Institute substantially predate the Disney Institute core complex, having been built around 30 years ago. Those buildings are being torn down (in phases) to make room for shiny new DVC accommodations.

Here's an old thread with more details at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=266324
