I am going to WDW early next September. We are traveling with family that hasn't been in years. They will be doing a lot of park hopping. Would it be better for us to stay at our home resort SSR or should we look into ressies for BWV or BC both of which are near lots of things to do? Opinions appreciated.

While it is very convenient to walk to EPCOT and MGM from the BWV and BCV resorts, I don't know if that convenience is that much of a big deal for you. You can get to the parks pretty easily from any of the resorts, and once at a park you can hop to any other park easily...that has no bearing on where you started from.

I'd stay where you think you will enjoy it the most. We find the Disney transportation system to be very good in general, making resort location less critical to us.

Of course, if waiting 20 minutes for a bus is considered unacceptable, then maybe choosing BWV or BCV would alleviate some of that. It really depends on the person.

Good luck, and enjoy your trip! :)

Although I have sentimental ties to BWV and like the freeodm you have there, we always end our day at DTD, as it's open later than anythign else. I cannot wait to walk "home"!

I agree exactly. We are always conflicted between our homes, because we may not do a park every day, but we always end up at DTD. Especially when the parks close early, DTD is open until at least 11pm and 2am for PI.

I think for mixed groups with varying levels of WDW experience (1st timers to Veterans) and budgets, the SSR location is more forgiving.

No you cant walk to any parks, but there are direct busses.

There are alot more eating options at DTD for all types of budgets. If you have family that will be on a limited budget, they may balk at the prices of the Boardwalk restaurants or even Beaches N Cream. For them, there is McDonalds and Earl of Sandwich at DTD.

The pools stay open later at SSR and the quiet pools are lit all night for all levels of enjoyment. We found that SAB closes before the parks close and the BCV quiet pool turns out the lights by 11pm. We like to stay up late and swim or sit in the hot spa and others in your party may want to also. We love being in the Congress Park Pool at midnight for MITS (Mediocrity in the Sky) :rotfl: But hey at midnight, We'll take it!

When it is just the 4 of us, we will stay at BCV and SSR or other. But when Im planning for family or others, It will be SSR because they can be more in control of their time, budget and touring style. Less work for me and less complaining about things I have no control over!

SSR would be my choice for the reasons listed. We found bus service at the BWV in June to be extremely slow and quite an ordeal. So, we walked a lot more. We've never experienced that at the other resorts to that degree. And we are not an impatient family and rarely find fault with WDW transportation. IMHO, too many resorts share the buses.

If that Irish Pub is open at Pleasure Island go with SSR and you can stagger "home"!!!!

I don't see as how BWV/BC is more convenient to anything really, except it is a short walk to the International Gateway. But then SSR is a short distance from DTD!
