I just got off the phone with DVC and am pleased to announce we can now call SSR our home down south!!!
Also, I asked my rep about the service bar for food at SSR at that I was suprised it would not have a formal resturant. He said that in the future plans there may be a service bar for food but there definatly will be a white linen and china resturant there!!! I was soo excited it closed the deal. He stated the golf course resturant - I think it was called Seasons is going to be SSRs formal resturant!!!
Tomorrow after 1pm I can plan our trip home!!! For all of you thinking about membership, I also heard a rumor that prices will be going up soon - we all know that, however, I think they are selling really good and he said there is an announcement tonight so make sure to ask your reps for how long you can save $5 per point!!!
Wow, I am really excited!!!

Welcome Home...

Will Season's be re-opening (I assume it is still close) as soon as SSR opens, or will it be delayed until several more buildings are opened?

Or do we know?

Hi Chuck,
My rep did not say about when it will open or re-open, just that it will be SSRs formal dining. Hopefully it will be there in July!! I will update if I hear more.

hmmmm.....this is different from what I heard.

We toured the SSR unit at DVC Sales three weeks ago and they showed us plans for a food court similar to CBR. They said there would be no formal dining since SSR is in such close proximity to DTD and WS which offered a wide number of dining options.

A formal dining option at SSR would be nice though.

Welcome home!

Yep, it will be called The Artist's Palette. IIRC, Seasons was the full service restaurant at the Disney Institute. If they do re-open it, as lclrml was told, I'd bet that they wait for more bldgs to be completed - at least the first four, maybe more.

When we visited for our tour 10 days ago we were told there was only going to be a food court. No formal dining. DTD was there for anything more than a food court. So I wonder whats up?

This sounds a bit dubious to me. Perhaps it's in the long-range plans, but I can't see it making sense immediately.

The first Phase of SSR (4 buildings) represents fewer than 200 guest rooms. A food court, table service restaurant AND all of the Downtown Disney eateries within such short proximity seems like overkill to me--especially with kitchens in every single unit.

I could see it being a bit more feasible in 2005 when the remaining two-thirds of the resort begins to open.

Even still, I wouldn't trust such comments from a Guide until they are in print from DVC. The Member Clubhouse newsletter has been running stories on all aspects of SSR for 6-8 months now with no mention of an additional dining option. Perhaps it is a very recent decision, but additional confirmation would certainly lend credence to the claim.
