Just a quick question. I've read several posts that say when you check in at SSR they ask you to take the bus to your room. Is this correct? :confused3
I really hope not. I'm not too good to take the bus it just seems that taking you to your room should be part of the deal in a resort such as the DVC. :moped:

Thanks for any info you guys can provide.

never heard of this. they have golf carts and vans they use. just tell them :thumbsup2 you need a ride if they don't offer.

Just back from SSR 10/27. Our room wasn't ready until about 3:30 so we went to Epcot and just took the bus back to Congress Park after I called for the room #. For check out we requested luggage assistance the night before and they picked us up with a 3 seat golf cart.

1) Sometimes.
2) If bellmen are not busy, they can take you in the golf carts or van.
3) If bellmen are busy, they tell you to grab the bus or WAIT and WAIT.
4) If really busy, the bellmen wait can be more than 1-hr.

Thanks for your information. I know no matter what we'll have a great time staying at this resort for the first time.
I really hated it when they took the Disney institute away and hope this will be just as good. :wizard:
Thanks again

dizzygal, your in for a great surprise! SSR is beautifull, laid back, place to relax. Dont worry youll love it.

Staying at SSR for first time and wondering how check in works if you are renting points? Also if you drive and have your own vehicle you don't have to take the bus to your room from check in right? Can you can just drive to your building and park? Also since we are renting the points are we also elgible for free parking at the parks? Or is it better to use the bus?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I figured it was an appropriate title.

Thanks

You can drive your car to the villa. There is ample parking near each building.

Free parking at the theme parks is not a DVC perk, it is a Disney Resort Guest perk. Since DVC is also a Disney Resort, the free parking applies, no matter if you are the DVC owner, guest, renter, or paid cash for the room through CRO.

Thanks Caskbill. One more question, when renting points do you also get a Disney Resort ID (room key) that can be used for EMH? Sorry if its a dumb question butI have never stayed at DVC before.

1) These are "tipped" positions.
2) The bellmen certainly do appreciate tips.

Just returned from SSR and OKW too. We were told that tips are included in your DVC membership at 18% .

18% of what?? I think the person told you about the dining Package. I can't imagine bellboys getiing an 18%tip of our membership?? If so, sign me up!!!

Either they misspoke or you misheard. Tips for bell services and other services are not included in our DVC dues. I think Lady V is correct and the person was referring to the Dining Package.

I agree with Granny. From my experience, DDP includes the 18 percent tip as well as the meal tax.

As for the bellpeople and the houseskeepers, tips are extra.
