I called my Guide, Marc Turner, who is a senior guide and been with DVC since it started. Marc has never ever given me any incorrect information. I specifically asked him about the ability for SSR owners to start booking reservations. He said that it does not matter what building you have ownership in whatsoever. He said all new SSR owners will be able to make reservations on Dec 1 for stays starting May 17--understanding that the May 17 date is all based on construction completion, etc.

I think this could be good and bad. It means that a lot of owners will be competing for that first building that opens up, if they wish to go in May when it first opens.

I have total faith in what Marc has said. That being said, please don't shoot this messenger for the information I am sharing.

It appears that DVC Mgmt has monitored this post and asked Marc to call me back. Here is what he has told me:

It appears that Marc's original response to me was regarding my particular situation and the nuts and bolts of the booking situation is as follows--

Since Bldg 1 is is to open approximately May 17, those owners can book for trips starting on May 17 or later at SSR or any other DVC resort.

Bldg 2 is to open approximately June 1, so those owners can book for stays starting June 1 or later at SSR or any other DVC resort.

Both situations require following the 11/7 month booking windows.

Aren't you impressed that DVC saw this post and responded so quickly? It seems that the best way to get erroneous information corrected is to have someone quoted. Not saying that is what should be happening, but this one sure turned around quickly.

Marc, if you are reading, hope this didn't cause you too much stress.

I agree with that last post...our guide Kim (senior rep) also told us during our preview that the day was May 17th, and he did not qualify based on which building assigned. I know we bought in the second building ( I asked that!), as the first was already sold out.

Thanks for the info! It's always nice to hear information from an experienced guide. I assume when he told you the above information, he was talking specifically about reserving at SSR. Correct? Did he comment on the procedure for making reservations at other DVC resorts using the 7 month booking window...especially if we are currently within the 7 month window? That's where the big question is right now. Those of us who want to travel to other DVC resorts from May 17th through June are kind of in limbo based on our unit.

Thank you SO much for the update on that information RweTHEREyet. It is very much appreciated! :)

RweTHEREyet - thank you for taking the time to talk with Marc and for posting here! Yes, I am impressed that DVC is monitoring the posts here and replied with an answer so quickly!

Marc - thank you for working with us to clarify this! Great work...and very much appreciated.

I don't think anyone on here that posts would be the person checking out the posts, I think maybe someone in DVC Mgmt may be a lurker that checks out what is going on and being said here. Don't know that from anything Marc told me, just my opinion.

Sounds like a good assumption. I'm glad they lurk. They have a good sample to work with here on the DVC DIS.

Can you guys imagine it. Someone is getting paid to read internet discussion boards. Sign me up for that job. I already spend so much of my time doing it anyway. Might as well get paid for it.

I am also glad they are doing it. It is not just DVC though. All of Disney are reading these boards. I remember reading where one of the Transportation Cast Members got a talking to for something they had in their post. I think it was a picture that was proprietary.
