Was making my ADRs on tuesday and I found it odd that there was apparently zero availability for my family of 5 at shiki-sai 60+8 days in advance. I modified the search to a party of 4 and there is tons of availability. Do they not seat parties of more than four? Does anyone have experience booking a slightly larger group there?

Any chance you tried 6? I know the restaurant is set up with many tables for 4 and some 2. But that far out it does seem odd they can't give you a reservation for 5. You might need to consider getting another member of your reservation party to help you, and one of you book for 4, one book for 2 - around the same time. And then when you check in at the restaurant (a few minutes early, if you can), request to be seated together or very near each other. We've had great success with restaurants doing that. But if you can get a reservation for 6, I'd go for it - then check in at the restaurant with your 5. That should not be an issue and should not affect their table set up.

I thought of that and it came up empty. Still lots available for 4 so I thought maybe it was just a weird policy not to have larger tables. Maybe I will try getting my wife to book a 2 top while I book 3. thanks.

And then perhaps check now and then to see if a 5 is available. It's worth it - it's a nice place to eat! Hope it works out!

I've always had to book a party of 4 and a party of 2. Then at the front desk let them know that the 2 parties are together. They've always accommodated us. Is it annoying yes. But once you know this annoyance and work around the better off you are. We always enjoy our meal there.

For that specific restaurant I have to split parties of 5+ and ask to combine at check in desk.

I don’t know how new this is, but shiki-sai now has bookable tables for 5-6 people! But it seems only for the 5-5:10pm slots on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sunday's for some reason.
