We've decided on our trip dates and we're going back to SSR in February. We stayed there when it was practically brand new in September '04 and it was beautiful. Very impressed. Just wondering if anyone here has made it lately and could tell us if it's all been kept up well. Want to make sure we don't run into any disappointing surprises like the rooms being worn. We're requesting to stay in the Congress Park section because we stayed there the first time and really liked the views. If anyone has any comments I'd like to hear them...

We were the opposite - not that impressed with SSR when it was still in construction phases, but blown away this summer with the beauty and elegance of the "almost" finished resort. It was the cleanest and most well-kept of any DVC or non DVC resort we have stayed in thus far.

I've posted lots of photos here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1187054
You can see how the landscaping is starting to mature a bit. I imagine it will be breathtaking in 5-10 years.

We stayed in Congerss park, 2 bedroom and loved it. It was our first stay. Great view of DTD. The ONLY thing we were surprised at was how worn the carpet was. The rest was in great shape. We noticed 2 lights out in the foyer by the elevators one night and the next night they were changed.

Enjoy your visit!

we stayed in the Springs section twice, fantastic - we were close to the pool, restaraunt, and the main desk. I'm concerned that the construction is causing the resort to spread out too much and certain buildings may become inconvenient. Plus there are already four bus stops in the resort, they don't need to add another

I've stayed in Congress Park twice (one of those was during opening week May '04) and most recently (May 06) stayed in The Paddock. The resort itself is much more developedk, lush greenery, etc.

To be honest, Congress Park was nice, but I think we liked the Paddock more. It was remote, closer to the entrance, and just a general all-around good location. I don't know why, but compared to our placements in CP, we enjoyed our location in the Paddock much more.

We were in the Springs this May and it was perfect! In terms of location, you couldn't beat it as far as we were concerned...close to AP, the Pool, etc. Room looked to be in perfect shape to us...no stains or wear showing on any of the upholstery or carpets. The coffee table was fairly scratched, though. Still, it was beautiful enough to convice us to buy in.... :thumbsup2

I'm torn between the seclution of one of the other sections and the views that Congress Park offers. Also, it was so new last time I'm hoping that we won't be bothered by things like worn carpet. We just loved the views so much last time and it was really neat when PI shot off the fireworks every night. Maybe it won't be AS appealing this time since they no longer do that but I do love seeing DTD lit up every night from bed.

I just want to add that last time I requested DTD view as first choice, The Springs as second choice but had to wait all day to get into either of these. The only thing available at the time of checkin was The Paddock (we needed to get our baby down for a nap so we couldn't wait for a room).. I was leary about staying so far away in The Paddock, but SO GLAD we decided to go with that section anyway. I was not disappointed in the least.

My advice (and you probably know this already) is to check in early and if you are really set on a certain section you might have to be willing to wait all day for it.

lucki bunny,

Unfortunately, with the rehab of Pleasure island, the nightly fireworks are gone. Just wanted to let you know in case that made a difference in your choice of view.

I agree that Downtown Disney lit up at night is just beautiful. And if you get a room with a view of the gorgeous quiet pool........... :cloud9:
