SSMC2006 cruise friends

Cool pictures, Steve. It looks like it was a good trip and everyone had fun. No denying that the girls are sisters as they look a lot a like. You forgot to post the one of you after Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. ;) It's amazing how well the princesses turn out after a visit.

I was just coming here to post some Hilton Head pictures myself. It must be picture day. :)

The kids favorite - sitting in the waves. This was pre-jellyfish stings as we didn't venture too much back to the beach after that.

We went out fishing with our friend Scott and this one dolphin kept circling the boat. I said to Scott, I'd really be impressed if he was able to get the dolphin to dance like they do in dolphin shows. Scott tapped the side of the boat and whistled and the dolphin came along. Scott put his hand up in the air and this is what happened:

Cameron caught "JAWS"

Jeff's brother Rob pulled two of these turtles out of the creek. They are diamondback tarripins. Walker couldn't resist the urge to see if it would eat a shrimp. We also found out that even if it's in its shell, seeing the sight of a crab will make it come out rather quickly and bite the crab.

Anyone know this guy?

While hunting for shells on a sandbar - where there were a lot of jellyfish and not only Walker got stung, but so did Jeff, his dad and his neice and our friend Scott, Cameron came across another kind of jellyfish which didn't sting - a moonjelly.

This is a huge welch that Walker found:

There's that guy again ;)

This was a 14" catfish that I pulled out of the creek on a little tiny line:

Jeff's brother Rob and his dad went into Walmart and bought a shrimp net. Seeing it, Walker wanted one as well. This is Jeff's brother teaching Walker how to throw it. They pulled up a lot of little mullet fish and shrimps - which we didn't cook, although Walker caught enough to make a "cocktail" as he called it. Mom had her thoughts on another kind of cocktail.

Here's Walker with his shrimp net. Notice that boat marker out there?? That's about where the alligator got before a man on a balcony behind us yelled that it was heading right towards Walker. I had seen it but thought it was a log.

See the alligators head sticking up out of the water?

We followed it as it headed towards the pier at Disney. This is as it swam past the fishing area.

A croaker fish - they really do croak!

That little boy in the top picture is Walker from 3 years ago. It's used in the display near the main pool. I was rather surprised to see it there.

Bike riding is a favorite activity of ours. Walker & I rode all over every morning. Cameron was still sleeping but we did manage to get him on the bike occassionally. This night was our last night there when we rode bikes off Disney's little island to a nearby restaurant.

Great HHI pics Cindy! We really liked our visit there a few years ago. Coleen loved going down to Savannah Ga.
Glad to hear the alligator was spotted before it got too close to Walker:scared1:

The photos are great Steve and Cindy!!!

Mary - where in Iowa did you venture? I am also curious which town in MO was bad as we often stay overnight when driving up from Texas.

Julie...the name of the town in Iowa was Albia. It's about 20 miles west of Ottumwa.

We stayed overnight in Moberly, MO. It's about 40 miles north of Columbia.

Since I was whining on Friday I felt I should give equal time to having a better day.

Today has been a wonderful day. Right now I am finishing a fine cigar while sitting on our back deck. We have a fire going in the fire pit. There is a chicken on the rotisserie and I am sipping a virgin margarita ( Chief call tonight so no booze) .We are going to have potatoes and veggies in an iron skillet along with the chicken. Dessert is tropical fruit in a light caribbean sauce.

AND the best part is I am sharing it with my lovely wife!

Yes indeed life is good today!

Oh Steve we don't think you were whining, having those days happens to all of us some time or another. Looks like today is looking up for you and the chicken sounds really yummy!

The weather is perfect out, when John gets back from his uncles we're going to light a fire in the pit and sit out there maybe even with a glass of wine or 2 or 3.

Yesterday we went with our motorcycle riding group (19 bikes) to a little town in Ohio. Round trip it was a 276 mile drive. That's alot of miles sitting on that seat and boy do you see alot of corn in Ohio! It was odd seeing all the bikers in Ohio not wearing helmets. Next week we're going to the Cheeseburger Festival in Caseville, MI. That should be another decent ride.

Mary - I've heard of Albia as a classmate growing up had family from there!

We are VERY jealous of everyone who can enjoy an evening (or actually any time) outside... it's 107 degrees here today and our electric bill just proved how flippen HOT it has been all summer long. Can't wait to move north to cooler weather!

Great pics Cindy and Steve - thanks for sharing them.

Julie - any pics of Ethan to share yet?

We have gotten our BUTTS handed to us the last 12 hours. Storm after storm, heavy rain and lots of wind. We have a big part of a tree down in our back yard. I left for work this morning in a monsoon. My dad called and he has a big limb down at is house and Heather had to drive way out of her way to get to town. Power is out all over the area. These were some doozy t-storms

I heard about them on the news. They were headed this way, but are expected not to have the same severe impact. I hear some guy was building an ark in your area :rotfl:

Seriously, I hope you all weathered the storm (as it were).

Yikes. :headache: It sounds like your area got the brunt of the storm. I couldn't believe how quickly they came through. I was surprised we didn't have any damage or power outages in our area. Let's hope they are gone now and Sandy, I hope if they are headed your way, I hope they have diminished. If not, barrel down the hatches!
